Financial assistance

Ask privately for a scholarship for a Tawasaw program or for support from the Tawasaw Zakah Fund.

Program scholarships

Tawasaw invites families who need a partial or full scholarship for any of its programs to ask. You can now ask here instead of by email, and name the program the request is for.

If a program page sent you here, that program is filled in for you.

Based on the scholarship note on tawasaw.org.

Tawasaw's Zakah Fund

At Tawasaw, we care deeply about the wellbeing of our community. We understand that individuals and families may experience periods of financial hardship and unexpected challenges. Through the generosity of our donors, the Tawasaw Zakah Fund is available to help support members of our community who are in need, particularly students and new Muslims (converts) who may be facing financial difficulty.

If you are experiencing hardship and believe you may be eligible to receive zakah assistance, we encourage you to complete the application form below. Our team will review each request with care and respond as soon as possible. We ask Allah to ease your circumstances and place barakah in the support provided through this fund.

New Muslims: the new to Islam resources point here too if you are in financial need.

How review works

  1. You send a short private requestYou sign in so you can see its status privately. We ask only what is needed: the kind of help, the program if there is one, a few sentences about your situation, an amount if you know it, and how to reach you.
  2. The assistance lead assigns a reviewerEach request is read by Tawasaw’s assistance lead and one designated reviewer.
  3. The reviewer may ask a questionIf anything else is needed, you will see the question in My Tawasaw and can reply there.
  4. A person decidesZakah eligibility is decided only by designated human reviewers. No automated system scores, ranks or decides any request.
  5. You see the outcome in My TawasawIf support is approved, the assistance team follows up about next steps.

Who can see your request

  • You, the assistance lead, and the reviewer assigned to your request.
  • Other members of your household cannot see it.
  • General staff, program leaders, volunteers, finance staff and site administrators cannot see it.
  • Emails from us about your request say only that there is an update. They never include what you wrote.
