Tawasaw Chaplaincy

Tawasaw's chaplaincy sessions offer students the space to seek confidential spiritual guidance and counseling. Students can ask questions, seek assistance in navigating various situations, or simply reflect on their experiences with a chaplain who is able to provide them with relevant, faith-centered guidance.

Examples of topics students have used our chaplaincy services for include:

• Practicing Islam as a student
• Navigating personal relationships
• Questions about Islam
• Islamic leadership and activism

Our goal is to empower Muslim students through a combination of sincere counsel, mentorship, and spiritual care. Our chaplains can also connect students with other resources, including our zakat funds for financial support and consultation sessions with our scholars for fatwa services.

Why chaplaincy?

The essence of our mission at Tawasaw is the notion of collaborative growth. As Allah (SWT) tells us in the Noble Quran, the believers are those who urge each other (tawasaw) towards truth, patience, and mercy. As such, we believe in an education that goes beyond online videos and lectures where attendees merely receive information. Rather, we believe that some of the most transformative experiences come from one-on-one engagement and conversations between students and teachers. Our chaplaincy program aims to bridge that gap: alongside providing local MSAs with educational programming, we want to ensure that individual spiritual needs of each student are met.

Logistics

Our chaplaincy services are available to all college and university students in the San Francisco Bay Area. Students can sign up using the Calendly calendar below for virtual sessions held through Google Meet.
