Agreeing to these terms

These terms apply when you use tawasaw.org and the programs, bookings, forms and messages of Tawasaw Institute ("Tawasaw", "we", "us"), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization at 3349 International Blvd, Ste 3, Oakland, CA 94601. By using the site you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Using the site and our services

• You must be 13 or older to create an account. A parent or guardian registers and is responsible for a younger child.
• Give accurate information and keep your sign-in link and account to yourself. Tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
• Bookings, tickets and payments are handled by Ticket Tailor and follow its terms as well as ours. Our refunds and cancellations policy explains how to cancel or ask for a refund.
• Programs, dates, teachers and prices can change. We will tell people who have booked about any important change.
• Counseling, chaplaincy and guidance are spiritual and personal support. They are not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and are not for emergencies. In an emergency, call 911.

User conduct

When you use the site or take part in our programs, please do not:

• Break the law or help anyone else do so.
• Harass, threaten or harm anyone, or post hateful, abusive or indecent material.
• Pretend to be someone else, or give false information about yourself or a child.
• Send spam, advertising or sales messages through our forms.
• Try to get into accounts, data or parts of the site you are not allowed to use, or interfere with how the site works.
• Copy or scrape the site, or reuse our teachings and materials for commercial purposes, without our written permission.

Donations

Donations are made to Tawasaw Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 85-0949909), and are tax deductible to the extent the law allows. Online donations are processed by Zeffy or PayPal under their terms. For questions about a donation, email contact@tawasaw.org.

Our content

Teachings, recordings, publications, text, images and logos on this site belong to Tawasaw or to the people who shared them with us. You may watch, read and share links to them for personal, non-commercial use.

Other services

The site links to and embeds services run by others, such as Ticket Tailor, Zeffy, PayPal, Calendly, Google Meet and YouTube. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.

Disclaimers

We work hard to keep the site accurate and available, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will always be available, error free or free of harmful code, and to the fullest extent the law allows we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Tawasaw, its volunteers, staff and teachers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the site or our services. Where we are found liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the program or service involved, if any. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Text message (SMS) terms

Tawasaw Institute may send text messages to people who choose to receive them, such as program updates, event reminders and, if you opt in, marketing and promotional messages.

• You opt in by checking the text message box on our newsletter form and giving a mobile number. The box is never checked for you, and agreeing to texts is not a condition of any registration, purchase or donation.
• Message frequency varies.
• Message and data rates may apply.
• Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time. You will get one message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and no further messages after that.
• Reply HELP for help. You can also email contact@tawasaw.org or call (408) 837-3325.
• Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
• Mobile opt-in data and consent will not be shared or sold to third parties for marketing purposes.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The new version takes effect when it is posted on this page with a new date at the top.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
