  1. Assalaamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
  2. and welcome to Ramadan's series,
  3. As-Sirat al-Mustaqim "The Straight Path"
  4. In this station
  5. that we are in, we're trying to recognize, understand,
  6. and know who are our enemies that will sit for us on
  7. The Straight Path, and try to knock us off track
  8. or to deviate us from it altogether.
  9. The worst enemy that Allah SWT mentioned for the human in the Quran
  10. is the Shaytan "Satan" Shaytan belongs to a specie called "Jinn"
  11. They were created before us.
  12. They existed on earth before us. Among this specie,
  13. if there is a Jinn that is a non-believer
  14. and aggressive, that's called Shaytan.
  15. If there is a believer Jinn, which there's many of them,
  16. that's called Muslim, Mo'men, Mohsen, depends on their level of faith.
  17. Also, a very strong Shaytan that can do things,
  18. Allah SWT mentioned him in the Quran as "Marid" and "Marada" (plural)
  19. and it is the Marada that the Prophet PBUH
  20. said that will be chained in the days of Ramadan, during the month of Ramadan.
  21. The Marada, the leaders of Shayateen "Satans" and the strong ones among them,
  22. they are the one that they will be chained.
  23. As the scientists said,
  24. not every Shaytan will be chained, but just the leaders.
  25. Amongst the believers of the Jinn
  26. If there is a strong one, it's called a "Ifrit" (One mighty jinn)
  27. Nevertheless, Satan is the first enemy,
  28. and an avowed enemy, literally, when Allah SWT
  29. asked the angels to bow down to Adam and he refused.
  30. He literally took an oath
  31. (Satan said, “By Your Glory!)
  32. Oh Allah, I swear by Your Glory.
  33. I swear by Your Majesty, that I will try to mislead
  34. every one of them. In another Ayah,
  35. قَالَ فَبِمَآ أَغْوَيْتَنِى لَأَقْعُدَنَّ لَهُمْ صِرَٰطَكَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
  36. Oh Allah, by all the powers of
  37. perception and deception that you have given me,
  38. I will sit down in The Straight Path
  39. That's why learning what Satan is very relevant to our series,
  40. because he literally took an oath to be our enemy
  41. and to sit for us in The Straight Path. Most of us
  42. do not think of Satan on in our daily lives.
  43. We don't put him in calculation, when Allah wants to remember that
  44. we have avowed enemy,
  45. (Surely Satan is a sworn enemy to humankind)
  46. Truly Satan to the human
  47. is a sworn clear enemy.
  48. Now this Satan, starting from Iblis, may Allah curse him,
  49. the biggest one of them, the one that took an oath in front of God
  50. or his children and his followers of his kind.
  51. They have strategies, and we need to be aware
  52. of their strategies so that it doesn't work on us.
  53. The first way method and strategy is Waswasa
  54. Allah tells us to read, to protect ourselves from Satan, Surah Al-Falaq
  55. and Surah An-Nas, and in Surah An-Nas, Allah says:
  56. (Who whispers into the hearts of humankind)
  57. Satan comes to you
  58. and puts an idea in your head.
  59. You will notice that that idea was not in your head before
  60. until Satan spoke it in your consciousness.
  61. Now that's number one.
  62. Next, he will make this idea beautiful in your eyes,
  63. beautify it, decorate it, make it appealing, attractive
  64. Then he will leave the rest for you.
  65. Because what are you going to do?
  66. You're going to take this idea and adopt it yourself.
  67. It's going to turn into an intention.
  68. It's going to turn into a plan.
  69. It's going to turn into action.
  70. And once you do the action, you know, you're about to do the action, Satan
  71. makes sure that you don't think about the consequences
  72. of your action after you do it, because he wants you to do it.
  73. Once you do it, Satan will come back at you,
  74. humiliate you, tell you how dare you could do this?
  75. You're not a good believer. You're a sinner.
  76. You're so far away from God's mercy.
  77. This faith and religion business is not meant for you.
  78. You should just depart ways. Why?
  79. Because through guilt, you know, unhealthy guilt, and through regret,
  80. he will put you in a depression to a point.
  81. Where do you say, I can't take this anymore?
  82. I can't be depressed for the rest of my life.
  83. And then you feel you want to move on in your life.
  84. That's when he comes again and inspires you to do something
  85. wrong again, to catch you in a vicious cycle.
  86. This is one of the most effective strategies of Satan.
  87. We need to be aware that if we follow the steps of Satan
  88. and we ended up doing that. Never believe Satan, all what you have to do, ask
  89. for forgiveness, repent to Allah, follow a bad deed with a good one, and move on.
  90. Don't get stuck in unhealthy regret and guilt
  91. because that in itself is one of the strategies
  92. and the tricks of Satan. My dear brothers and sisters, Satan said I will come
  93. from the four directions. The scientists in the books of Tafsir
  94. have said "From in front of them" Satan means the future.
  95. He will give you a dream
  96. like a Satanic dream in the future that you never had, and you start,
  97. you change your whole direction in life to go in that direction, or
  98. he will beautify in your eyes
  99. something that you should do in the future.
  100. Or he will put a fear in you from the future.
  101. But that we will come to in the next strategy.
  102. Then he will come to you from your right.
  103. What does it mean when Satan comes to you from the right side?
  104. Satan will start praising you when you do a good deed.
  105. He says, you're amazing, you're great, you're righteous, you're perfect.
  106. You're better than everyone else.
  107. Oh, my God!
  108. No one is like you.
  109. People should bow down to you. Satan
  110. I will get to you through your good deeds by making your head,
  111. you know, and boosting your ego.
  112. You should not fall for that.
  113. Then he will come from the left side through your sins.
  114. You are a sinner. You cannot repent.
  115. Then he will come to you from the back, meaning from the past.
  116. Why did you do that?
  117. It's because you were praying
  118. five times a day that you missed that opportunity at work.
  119. It is because you were fasting
  120. that you couldn't go with your friends to this fun place.
  121. It's because... You start regretting what you did right in the past,
  122. or you start living in the sadness.
  123. Most of the sadness comes from something that happened in the past.
  124. So he makes you live in a miserable life.
  125. All of this to drain your energy
  126. so that you don't have any more energy to obey Allah and do great things in life.
  127. The third strategy that Satan will deploy to mislead you
  128. is to strike fear in your heart.
  129. Allah SWT told us in the Quran:
  130. (The Devil threatens you with ˹the prospect of˺ poverty and bids you to the shameful deed ˹of stinginess˺)
  131. Satan promises
  132. you you're going to become poor and commands you to be a sinner.
  133. This is interesting because Satan is telling you
  134. if you give charity, you're going to become poor.
  135. So Allah said in the Quran:
  136. (That ˹warning˺ was only ˹from˺ Satan, trying to prompt you to fear his followers)
  137. That is Satan that is striking
  138. fear in the hearts of his followers.
  139. Subhanallah, we find the effect of this is that we start developing
  140. even more panic, anxiety,
  141. fear and worrying so much, above the normal
  142. because Satan loves to make us live in the state of fear, again, why?
  143. To drain your energy so that you don't have any more energy
  144. to worship Allah and do good deeds in your life.
  145. Insha'Allah,
  146. tomorrow we will continue with the methods, strategies,
  147. and ways Satan attacks you in your daily life.
