  1. Assalaamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
  2. and welcome back to Ramadan's series,
  3. "As-Sirat al-Mustaqim"
  4. Today, we want to talk about the humanity in general.
  5. Yesterday, we spoke about people
  6. as individuals, including ourselves.
  7. Today, we want to talk about
  8. and us, mankind in general, the people that we know.
  9. One of the things that is a desire for the human is to be famous,
  10. to be known, to be recognize wherever they go.
  11. Even though if many people know you, they cannot help you
  12. and they probably envy you for what you have.
  13. But Allah SWT wants to stop
  14. this feeling and urge in us that we want to impress people
  15. and we want the confirmation of people.
  16. And we want people to be happy with us and we want to please them.
  17. And it is a goal that is never attained.
  18. No matter what you do, you will not be able
  19. to satisfy everyone in this world.
  20. Now, a few facts are Allah us about people in general
  21. that we want to share from The Noble Quran
  22. Three statements.
  23. (But most people do not believe)
  24. (But most people do not know)
  25. (But most people are ungrateful)
  26. Most people will not choose faith.
  27. So choose faith and stick yourself to it
  28. and move on.
  29. Because if you are waiting for the masses to confirm your choices, it's
  30. not going to happen.
  31. Most people will not choose it because they will not see their interests in it.
  32. Most people want instant gratification.
  33. Right here, right now, Allah SWT
  34. builds us on the long run to get the ultimate prize in Jannat Al Na'eem Insha'Allah
  35. And most people will not be thankful
  36. to Allah or to you.
  37. So instead of, you know, chasing
  38. people and their approval,
  39. they will not be thankful nor they will give you their approval.
  40. (But most people are ungrateful)
  41. (But most people do not believe)
  42. and the third one
  43. Most people do not know.
  44. You see, people sometimes portray themselves
  45. like they know what they're talking about, but most of the time they have no clue.
  46. They're busy with their lives, they're busy with their jobs and with their families
  47. and with their pleasure and whatever they built in their mind for themselves.
  48. And they have no time for you.
  49. So you better invest in yourself and improve yourself, Insha'Allah Rabb Alameen
  50. Now, having said that, Allah SWT instructs us in the Quran
  51. to choose our friends carefully
  52. and to stay away from people that will mislead us from the path of Allah SWT
  53. Prophet PBUH said:
  54. "One of you will have the same faith as his friend or companion,
  55. so let one of you choose his friend carefully"
  56. You see, I have seen it again and again and again,
  57. that sometimes there's a very good person that living a good life.
  58. Then someone comes in their life,
  59. they're bad influence, they're bad news,
  60. and this person suddenly becomes attracted to this other person
  61. and they see them confident, daring, and all out.
  62. And they say: "Look at me, my life is boring,
  63. I need to just accompany this person for more fun,
  64. and to get more out of life and more excitement"
  65. They don't realize that people who portray confidence on the outside,
  66. usually from inside, they are hiding so much
  67. and they don't realize that these people that are popular
  68. and up there and doing everything, they usually don't care about you
  69. and they don't have time to care about you or about your friendship.
  70. And the third thing that people don't realize
  71. that when you accompany someone, even though you are not very close to
  72. them, whatever they're doing rubs on you and whatever their habits are
  73. become your habits, their way of thinking becomes your way of thinking.
  74. The way of talking
  75. and walking and interacting, becomes your way of talking and walking.
  76. Why do you want that for yourself?
  77. Now, many times you don't realize that
  78. these people that you are looking up to and you want their company.
  79. They're actually jealous of you.
  80. What are they jealous of?
  81. They see you simple.
  82. Living in peace, having a good time with so little.
  83. You don't need much to have a good time and you have a focus.
  84. You have a purpose and a goal.
  85. So they want to take that away from you.
  86. I've also seen it with my own eyes, people who have chosen the wrong path in life.
  87. When they see someone who is pure and good.
  88. It's like it becomes a threat to them.
  89. And they start feeling, What do you think?
  90. You're better than me?
  91. What do you think?
  92. You're an angel and I'm the devil?
  93. I'm going to rip that innocence out of you.
  94. I'm going to rip that goodness and righteousness of you.
  95. And I'm going to prove to you that you are as evil as me.
  96. I have seen many people go and destroy
  97. other peoples' lives just because they're jealous of them.
  98. So be careful of who your company is.
  99. And lastly, when you see people that do whatever they want,
  100. maybe you are in high school or college and you see them.
  101. They're not studying, they're just having a good time
  102. and now they're influencing you to live your life like them.
  103. Let me tell you something.
  104. People like that never go anywhere in life.
  105. And if you meet them after ten years, you will find yourself
  106. so much ahead in life and they are still where you left them.
  107. Therefore, stay focused
  108. As the Prophet PBUH said:
  109. "Strive to Do That Which Will Benefit You"
  110. be keen to attain that which benefits you.
  111. Look at what benefits you and be keen to achieve it and attain it.
  112. Your benefit is with Allah.
  113. Your benefit is with copying the life of the Prophet PBUH
  114. Your benefit is with the believers,
  115. your benefits is in you studying and gaining knowledge.
  116. The knowledge of this world and the knowledge of the hereafter.
  117. Your benefit is in working hard and making wealth and spending
  118. from that wealth in for the sake of Allah SWT
  119. Your benefit is in bonding with the good people
  120. and doing good things in the name of Allah, for the sake of Allah
  121. May Allah the Mighty and the Majestic bring in our lives,
  122. good people that will have a beautiful, long-lasting influence
  123. and may Allah protect us from bad company
  124. and from the negative influence of the masses.
