1 moment mention “Mercy”:

  1. Last episode, we learned about knowledge,
  2. its importance,
  3. how it honors us,
  4. and we started tackling some of these types of knowledge in The Noble Quran.
  5. Today, we will continue
  6. and complete the list of ten types of knowledge.
  7. May Allah the Mighty and the Majestic benefit us from all of them, Ameen
  8. The fourth type of learning comes from learning from a teacher,
  9. and that teacher could be like math, science, sophisticated knowledge,
  10. or it could be a teacher in life.
  11. Our first teacher was our mom, then our dad, then our older brother,
  12. uncles, aunts.
  13. Then we went to school and we found a teacher.
  14. This teacher not only teaches you what we call like information,
  15. but could also teach you lessons in life
  16. that saves you a lot of time and energy.
  17. The next level of learning is, we already mentioned,
  18. the fifth one is reading, so we can read and write,
  19. and that reading is very, very, very important.
  20. That Allah SWT invited us
  21. to read all the types of knowledge,
  22. but in his name, so that whatever we manufacture
  23. out of that knowledge will not lead to mass destruction,
  24. to wiping out humanity, to wiping out life on planet Earth.
  25. But when you learn in the name of Allah and apply in the name of Allah,
  26. whatever comes out of you will be
  27. merciful, compassionate,
  28. kind, and in service of the creation of Allah
  29. Subhanahu wa Ta'ala
  30. The next level, the sixth level of learning
  31. comes from Revelation,
  32. Allah SWT sent for us, a revelation,
  33. and that's in the Ayahs I read:
  34. (The Most Compassionate, taught the Quran,
  35. created humanity, ˹and˺ taught them speech)
  36. Allah mentioned His divine knowledge,
  37. before mentioning the knowledge that He gifted you
  38. the ability to speak and read and write
  39. because that knowledge is higher
  40. from the Wisest SWT "Al-Hakim"
  41. from the All Knowing, All Hearing Omnipotent, The One Who's not limited
  42. by time and space, The One That doesn't have to learn from trial and error.
  43. The one Who is the source of all knowledge.
  44. You learn from Allah SWT through the revelation,
  45. and that revelation becomes the guidance to your life.
  46. As we said, As-Sirat al-Mustaqim in The Noble Quran
  47. is defined as the book of Allah
  48. Also, it's defined as whatever the Prophet PBUH taught
  49. That's why this is a very important source of knowledge.
  50. The seventh type of knowledge that we learn, is what we call
  51. experiential knowledge.
  52. Allah will make something happen in your life
  53. like you go through a car accident.
  54. You say, I should have been dead, but I was saved and I'm still alive.
  55. And you see the work of God in your life or you go through
  56. an experience that you know that this is not normal.
  57. This is not your average
  58. or logical things that happen in life.
  59. It has no explanation.
  60. And Allah always makes us go through these experiences.
  61. Maybe we will wake up and say: Who made me live?
  62. Who saved my life?
  63. Who healed me?
  64. Who supported me? Who saved me from my own
  65. demise and me, you know, destroying my own life?
  66. And that's another source of knowledge that Allah gives us.
  67. Maybe we will take heed of it.
  68. The next source of knowledge that Allah gives us.
  69. The eighth is inspirational.
  70. Some people, Allah SWT, inspires them.
  71. Like and this doesn't, you don't have to be like a very high special Muslim.
  72. You actually when you make "Istikhara" prayer, you say your Allah, show me
  73. if this is what I'm about to do is good for me or not.
  74. And Allah SWT either inspires you
  75. through a dream or Allah make something happen in your life
  76. that will show you the answer to your question.
  77. So inspirational.
  78. Also, the Prophet PBUH told us
  79. that there are in his Ummah, in his nation, people
  80. that Allah inspires to do good
  81. and Allah inspires with some answers.
  82. And the scholars of this Ummah, throughout the ages, they have been blessed
  83. with inspirations directly from Allah
  84. that goes with the divine revelation, not against it, obviously
  85. The ninth type of knowledge
  86. is a knowledge that we learn from dreams,
  87. you know, these visions and dreams.
  88. You don't even have to be a muslim.
  89. Look at the king at the time of Prophet Yusuf PBUH, Joseph,
  90. the son of Jacob.
  91. What brought him out of jail?
  92. It's actually because the king who was not a Muslim, saw a dream.
  93. Yusuf PBUH, Joseph, was the only one that was able to interpret the dream.
  94. That dream turned to a policy for the entire kingdom
  95. in Egypt for the next 14 years.
  96. Seven years of ease followed with seven years of drought.
  97. A whole nation and its policies,
  98. and its economy was built on a knowledge that was learned from a vision,
  99. a dream.
  100. And when it comes to vision, it's always recommendable to go to someone
  101. who's knowledgeable,
  102. who's righteous, and who loves you before you reveal your visions to them,
  103. he will give you more accurate interpretations of your dream.
  104. And the final type of knowledge that I love mentioned in the Quran
  105. is a knowledge that Allah teaches some people, specifically,
  106. the story of El-Khader with Moses PBHU,
  107. Allah said that he was one of Allah's servants
  108. (A servant of Ours,
  109. to whom We had granted mercy from Us
  110. and enlightened with knowledge of Our Own)
  111. Allah said that He taught that man a knowledge from Him SWT
  112. Now after the coming of Prophet Muhammad PBUH
  113. this knowledge has to be in adherence with the Quran and the Sunnah,
  114. but nevertheless, again, Allah SWT,
  115. sometimes inspires, the scholars of this nation,
  116. the sincere ones, with a knowledge that will help them understand
  117. the divine revelation even deeper and better.
  118. And that knowledge will help the rest of us.
  119. Insha'Allah, Lord of all worlds
  120. Having said that, after learning these ten different types of
  121. ways of learning, Allah
  122. encourages us in the Quran to seek knowledge,
  123. and He asks a question that we all know the answer to:
  124. (Say, "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?”)
  125. Are they the same?
  126. The one who knows and the one who don't know?
  127. We human beings, honor
  128. the people who know more than the people who don't know.
  129. And the more what you know is rare, the more you're honored.
  130. Like, okay, there're doctors,
  131. not everyone is a doctor because it's hard to get there.
  132. And then amongst doctors, if someone is a brain surgeon,
  133. oh my God! So sophisticated, they are more rare.
  134. Or a spine surgeon, more rare.
  135. If someone is an astrophysicist, if someone is
  136. an astronaut, oh my God! Only a few people on planet Earth.
  137. The more rare the knowledge, the more we honor the person higher.
  138. Also, the more the knowledge is important in itself.
  139. Like if someone knows how to fix your radio, which one you honor more?
  140. The one who knows how to fix the radio or the one who knows how to heal you
  141. and give you medicine?
  142. That's why we honor knowledge
  143. based on how crucial it is to us,
  144. how important, how much life and death it is for us.
  145. And that's why we ask the question,
  146. is there more knowledge out there
  147. that is more crucial, more important for your existence
  148. and your eternity than the knowledge of Islam?
  149. The answer is no.
  150. It's the highest knowledge and you're learning about the most important One,
  151. Allah, the creator of the creation, the God Himself.
  152. And then you learn about His angels, you learn about revelation,
  153. you learn about the Prophet. You learn about your goals.
  154. You learn how to walk on the Straight Path.
  155. May Allah grant us that knowledge
  156. and the energy to follow knowledge with action
  157. (Except those who believe and do good)
  158. This is the month of Ramadan, the month of intentions and the month of actions.
  159. May Allah accept from all of us and make us from those
  160. who know the truth and follow the truth.
  161. Ameen Ya Rabb Alameen
