6 moments mention “Repentance”:

  1. Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
  2. my dear brothers and sisters welcome back to Tawasaw's Institute Ramadan series for the year 1446
  3. Praise be to Allah Lord of all worlds, in the last episode we talked about how Allah
  4. in the verses of fasting said that He wants for us ease not hardship, exposing what Allah
  5. wants for us, makes the relationship with Allah clear. It's fascinating to me in Surah An-Nisa
  6. that Allah SWT in verses 26, 27 and 28 each verse Allah tells us what He
  7. wants for us and I think we don't pay attention to these verses
  8. in verse number 26 Allah SWT says:
  9. (It is Allah’s Will to make things clear to you, guide you to the ˹noble˺ ways of those before you,
  10. and turn to you in mercy. For Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise)
  11. Allah SWT wants to explain things to you in detail, by the way this verse came
  12. after the verse of how to choose a spouse, how to get married, who you're allowed to marry, who
  13. you're not allowed to marry, how we should not have boyfriends and girlfriends
  14. with open relationship for years but we should get to know and get married and that's
  15. the honorable way, then Allah says Allah wants to explain things in you. One thing about Islam
  16. that it's not a mysterious religion, it's clear it's crystal clear and that makes practicing
  17. this faith easy, you don't have to really figure things out because they're complicated, there's
  18. so much room for reflection, for depth, for understanding but at the end of the day
  19. the message is clear and what is demanded of you, what is wanted from you and what is wanted
  20. for you is clear, Allah SWT says Allah wants to make things clear for you and
  21. He wants to guide you and He wants to guide you like He guided the nations before you
  22. and Allah wants to bestow His repentance upon you and Allah the Mighty and the Majestic is all-knowing
  23. all-wise, this verse really strikes me as very beautiful and clears so many issues for me personally
  24. how Allah the Mighty and the Majestic set up this religion clear guidance and if you break the law, if you
  25. make a mistake, commit a sin that there is an open door for repentance and for forgiveness
  26. It's not the end of the road, it's not a dead end but rather there is a way back
  27. and a way to recover because Allah does not expect from us that we never make a mistake
  28. and we never sin but Allah expects from us that we're quick on our feet that we will
  29. turn and stop what we're doing wrong and turn and stand on our feet. Repentance in Islam is
  30. one of the most practical issues and teachings of Islam, first stop what you're
  31. doing wrong, second, intend not to do it again, because if you don't stop, what's the point
  32. of repenting? You should stop, you repent, you should show Allah some remorse, you should feel bad
  33. Why did I do that? How in the world did I do that? I should have not done that!
  34. When you show Allah that remorse and regret and you follow that with the prayers "Please, oh Allah
  35. forgive me" Oh Allah, please forgive me, the most beautiful prayer
  36. on the night of Night of Al-Qadr
  37. "Oh Allah you are a Lord that loves to forgive so forgive me oh Lord of all worlds"
  38. then the best part about repentance is that you follow a bad deed with a good one, I love
  39. how Islam invites us to move forward not get stuck in the past, Satan comes to you and makes
  40. you stuck in the past, how bad? Makes you feel guilty, makes you feel regretful, makes you
  41. feel stuck and he doesn't want you to go to the next step in which "Okay, I did what's wrong
  42. now I'm gonna do what is right" Satan will not let you do that, you should tell yourself:
  43. "If I had energy to do what's wrong, I should have energy to do what is right" and you should
  44. move from there forward. Now in the next verse, verse number 27, Allah reveals to us
  45. another thing that He wants for us
  46. (And it is Allah’s Will to turn to you in grace, but those who follow their desires wish to see you deviate entirely)
  47. Again, Allah in this verse repeats His want for us
  48. that we should repent and that the people around us who follow their desires, they want
  49. us to lean far away from the straight path and from the path of Allah, in this verse, Allah
  50. exposes one of the obstacles and the enemies of the believers, bad company, do not surround
  51. yourself with people who are always indulging themselves in fulfilling their desires
  52. with no limits thinking that that's an achievement, anyone can indulge themselves in fulfilling
  53. their desires with no responsibility to a point that it will kill them that's not an
  54. achievement, the one who rises in life even in the financial world is the one who says
  55. "No" to himself "No" to comfort "No" to laziness "No" to ignorance, "Yes" to hard work, these are
  56. the people who succeed in life, people who just indulge themselves in comfort and
  57. in desires they go nowhere in life, and that's why Allah says:
  58. (And it is Allah’s Will to turn to you in grace)
  59. and Allah wants to grant His repentance for you so then you have to engage yourself in
  60. the five steps of repentance, stop what you're doing wrong, intend not to do it again
  61. show remorse and love, make prayers and follow a bad deed with a good one, Allah SWT
  62. in this verse warns us of bad company and environment as it will take us far away from the path
  63. of Allah SWT, in verse number 28, Allah exposes to us and tells us something
  64. else that He wants for us
  65. (And it is Allah’s Will to lighten your burdens, for humankind was created weak)
  66. Allah wants things to be lighter for you, why? Because the human has been created weak
  67. So look, Allah is acknowledging for you, on your behalf, that you're weak, that you're not
  68. this ultimate superman, no, you are weak, so Allah wants things to be lighter for you, this
  69. determines the relationship between us and Allah, do we see Islam as something light
  70. and make things lighter? Do we see Islam as something beautiful and it makes things more beautiful?
  71. Do we see it something that gives us energy, that gives us enthusiasm, gives us purpose
  72. to do good things in life? If you look at your religion and at your faith like that
  73. your relationship with Allah will be such a joy and such an energy and such a source of synergy
  74. and happiness and peace Glory be to Allah that we are all looking for. It strikes me that Allah
  75. says in the Quran, Allah wants things to be "light" for you this word "light" has made it
  76. to so many languages even in Urdu, in Persian, in Turkish, in so many other languages "Light"
  77. you know, Glory be to Allah, when you become a practicing believer you feel lighter, you feel lighter
  78. with the love of Allah, lighter with what Allah wants for you, lighter with no sins
  79. lighter with good deeds, energetic, floating, flying, soaring, reaching to new levels
  80. May Allah SWT grant us that energy
  81. Ameen Ya Rabb Alameen
  82. May God’s blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and all his family and companions
