- very beautiful allah bless your health
- your wealth your time your energy
- your parents your brothers and sisters
- insha'allah
- and uh
- it is it's a surah you know just in a
- nutshell
- at the end of it it has an offer that is
- not mentioned anywhere else in the quran
- it says that allah would
- painfully punish one who associate
- partners with him
- one who commits murder
- killing and the fornication
- and adultery except those who repent and
- follow
- themselves with good deeds this is what
- allah said this is
- mind-blowing this is you know we know
- that if you sin and you ask forgiveness
- allah will forgive you
- but here is another one there's another
- offer of forgiveness in the quran
- and in the hadith which is forgiveness
- you did the sin
- it's on your record and the forgiveness
- is on your record
- you will not be held but it's on your
- record then there is afu
- which rasulullah told isha when it's
- night of uh
- al-qaeda if you think it's a night of
- al-qaeda
- what is afu is that the sin gets wiped
- out from your record completely
- when you're resurrected on the day of
- judgement nobody you cannot remember you
- made a sin
- nobody can remember you made a sin the
- angels don't remember it it's not in
- your book
- it's omitted from history it's literally
- as if you traveled back in the past
- and took that part and threw it out of
- your record
- this surah offers a third mind-blowing
- forgiveness
- not only allah will forgive you not only
- allah will expunge it from your record
- but allah will go back to that bad deed
- and turn it into a good deed on your
- record
- so when you wake up on the day of
- judgment you see yourself that you did
- something
- great and you forget that actually what
- you did was
- a great sin now that is called
- time travel you get to go to the past
- you get to change the past and turn the
- mistakes into good choices
- and put that on your record and move
- forward to the future on the day of
- judgement
- and meet allah with an amazing record
- you can't beat that this is unbelievable
- three different levels of forgiveness
- each one of them
- is mind-blowing so what's the format for
- tonight
- um we are going to have uh
- if you put your request for dua on
- social media
- between the speakers we're going to
- promote your dua inshallah
- for you so you can do that
- that's one option and then we're going
- to hear
- recitation of the quran from different
- people and
- some performances inshallah but the
- first one that i thought masha allah
- would
- enlighten us tonight is sheikh
- yasir who is masha'allah have been
- leading
- efforts day and night with al misbah and
- he has a surprise for us because he's
- not the only one who's watching
- he's actually having a whole they call
- it the warehouse it's in sacramento
- it's a it's an unbelievable group of
- brothers and sisters who actually do
- volunteer work community service they
- speak the same language we speak
- at tawasa and in at mca
- so alhamdulillah we're all on the same
- bandwidth
- almost the same thing that we teach the
- community service and all of that stuff
- alhamdulillah
- the mic is yours
- i appreciate
- [Music]
- you know to be told to speak here uh
- this evening on the suspicious night
- is
- respected brothers and sisters in islam
- i want to share
- three points short and simple that we
- can ensure
- hold very close to our hearts that will
- take us very
- far in life and ensure
- it will raise our statuses in the
- hereafter as well
- number one is the sunnah
- with all the different advancements that
- we see in society
- technology and this thing is coming out
- this vehicle
- and and we see the world is just
- you know racing with each other you know
- within itself to
- be the next big thing
- alhamdulillah that allah gave us the
- sunnah
- that we are to remain grounded in the
- sunnah
- we have to have this conviction that
- every any other way of
- life that we are to adopt and we believe
- that is that is the type of lifestyle
- that's going to lead us to success
- which is besides the sunnah our
- conviction
- should be that any other
- lifestyle and methodology of doing
- something which is against
- the sunnah is guaranteed
- going to lead us towards destruction and
- that is something that we
- need to you know internalize
- regardless of how advanced everything
- else is going our methodology is within
- the sunnah and
- it may seem like okay there's this
- paradigm or there's this
- uh uh you know conflict oh as
- if the sunlight is backwards no no it is
- not don't don't you know don't think
- that's the case
- we need to do our part
- and study the seerah under masha'ikh
- under mustand
- because we we need to believe that all
- of our problems
- that exist today the solutions are found
- in the seed of rasulallah
- the different incidents that took place
- what are some points that
- this author of that wrote aceta
- is able to derive from this point that
- from this incident
- you're able to derive this point and
- from that incident you're able to derive
- that point
- so this is something that i want all of
- us to hold on to
- is the sunnah of rasulullah now
- my next point point number two is from
- the sunnah of rasulullah i want everyone
- to
- hold dearly to your heart i believe
- which is which is one of the forgotten
- sunnah of rasulallah
- and what is that sunnah that is the
- sunnah of
- having worry and concern for the umba
- it's that flame as i like to say that
- creates this pulp the zeal
- to do more which is the motivating
- factor which pushes a person
- to do whatever that needs to happen for
- the ummah
- to deliver a food box to counsel someone
- to answer someone's phone call that we
- know is going through problems
- to assist someone in any way possible
- that
- requires motivation and
- the motivating factor should be the
- sunnah remember
- and one of the forgotten sunnah of
- sunnah is to have
- legitimate worry and concern for the
- ummah so much so
- that rasulullah sallam he would stand at
- night and he would cry for the ummah
- he would lose sleep because of the ummah
- he would lose his appetite because of
- the ummah
- he would toss and turn at night you and
- i toss and turn because
- we have exams coming up or we lose our
- sleep because of
- you know different challenges that we
- have the man
- would experience these emotions and
- challenges regarding the ummah of
- rasulullah
- and number three respected brothers and
- sisters in islam my third point and i
- will conclude here inshaallah
- is all of us want to
- have the keys to be able to draw from
- the trenches of allah subhanahu ta'ala
- we recognize who allah subhanahu wa is
- we recognize how
- amazing he is and how vast his kingdom
- is it is beyond our imagination
- combined allah with his
- treasures is like infinite treasures
- we need to be the smart ones intelligent
- ones to be able to tap into such
- treasures
- and the one of the keys to tapping into
- those treasures
- is by being sincere sincerity
- is that key to unlock that lock to draw
- from the treasures of allah
- it is to be doing it for the sake of
- allah wa
- so i remind myself first because i'm
- listening
- i'm able to hear and listen to myself
- first before the audience
- number one the sunnah of rasulullah
- sallam
- just because i don't know the solution
- to a problem does not mean it does not
- exist it is my weakness and it is my
- shortcoming i need to do a better job to
- understand the seat of rasulallah
- number two we need to hold on to this
- amazing sunnah of
- having worry and concern for fellow
- human beings
- i'm not saying fellow muslims i'm saying
- fellow human beings
- because islam came for the world islam
- did not come
- for an exclusive group of people and
- number three
- in order for us to draw from from the
- treasures of allah
- what is this verse talking about you
- boil what
- if you boil this down if you may it
- comes down to ikhlas may allah grant us
- these amazing qualities
- may allah accept everyone's efforts and
- my dear respected sheikh
- al-awlin as i was telling him over text
- messaging
- you gave me the umar and i'm here uh
- you remind me what we learned in the
- books uh
- for an action to be accepted by allah
- you need two things sincerity and
- following the prophet sallallahu alaihi
- sallam
- and as long as it is you know within the
- guidance of the quran
- are you speaking on your phone or this
- computer i wanted you to show us
- the the people because you know
- sometimes the numbers on the facebook
- does not reflect
- please go ahead unmute yourself so that
- you go back on the screen
- okay so they see me coming because
- they're also watching inside
- but uh
- [Music]
- masha'allah
- [Music]
- from that corner right there so we'll
- pray we pray our jumrah here and
- we have some shabbat here masha'allah
- and uh
- on the sister side and the warehouse as
- well but yeah
- i mean thank you very much bless your
- effort and the youth
- brothers and sisters and may allah give
- you tawfiq
- and success in dunya
- um yes
- um what better way to reintroduce our
- theme
- that we are focusing on this night which
- is that the empower that we are
- empowered by the quran
- and insha allah as you guys see the rest
- of our guest lineup
- that we are really bringing this theme
- to life our next speaker is one of our
- own very youth amina mahadeen who is a
- fellow middle schooler
- and has a passion for public speaking
- insha allah she will now be taking the
- floor to talk about her
- identity in faith
- his face can easily be fixed if they
- look at the crowd
- everyone my name is amina and today i
- would like to talk about how to quran
- empowers me
- one problem that many people face is
- that they aren't happy with the way they
- look
- they want to lose weight measure up to
- society's impossible
- yet in the quran allah tells us in surah
- 95
- ayah 4 we have indeed created men out of
- the best of worlds
- this empowers me because i know that on
- the day of judgment i'll be judged based
- on my character
- how i treat others not by how i look or
- the way i dressed
- the quran is also empowering because it
- has answers to every problem that i face
- whenever i'm faced with a situation or
- question i look at the crime for answers
- or what the prophets peace be upon him
- did in similar situations
- the quran is a guide to how we live our
- lives
- in conclusion the quran empowers me
- because i know i can turn to it whenever
- i feel anxious
- afraid or i simply need a boost of
- confidence
- the quran is advice on every possible
- situation
- and i'm and most of all it empowers me
- because it shows me i'm perfect just the
- way i am
- i'm special because i was created every
- day i try to remember
- thank you
- what are your thoughts on that i think i
- need to take some uh public speaking
- lessons from uh from sister amina
- yes she is she is always killing it
- masha'allah
- may allah bless her bless her parents
- who raised her
- and she has been with us from the first
- class
- at the tawasa alhamdulillah
- her and her sisters are amazing so
- go ahead inshaallah brother bismillah
- all right
- um that was refreshing to hear to start
- off from one of our youth our middle
- school or sister amina
- but i want to shift gears a little bit
- introduce um um our next
- speaker uh sister amen who uh
- has who is actually dr eman faraz should
- introduce she has a
- doctorate in psychology she's the
- president and founder of iman network
- um she has masala a list of diff you
- know other degrees and certificates
- um and she's she's also teaching she
- teaches at a
- university she's very active with the
- mca and i've actually had the pleasure
- of working with her
- in the last few months without further
- ado let me just
- introduce her and give her the mic uh dr
- iman farazella
- and i'm going to be talking about
- inshallah the quran and
- what the quran means for me in my life
- um
- uh i am a firm believer that the best
- word that allah gifted our beloved
- muhammad sallallahu alaihi
- wasallam uh on behalf of his ummah is
- basically the revelation of the quran
- which was revealed to him in the 23
- years
- and uh subhanallah jibrin and when he
- used to come to the prophet sallallahu
- alaihi wasallam
- every ramadan he would actually
- um recite the quran or review the quran
- with the prophet sallallahu alaihi
- for that month and then um
- subhanallah after that uh in the day
- when allah chooses the prophet
- sallallahu alaihi wasallam
- to be with him he is he actually
- reviewed the quran with him
- two times at ramadan um and that was an
- indication for the prophet sallallahu
- alaihi sallam
- for for the agile for the time that is
- the time to go
- um and uh why i'm saying that because
- subhanallah during the month of ramadan
- we compete among each other like we
- we try to see how many times did you
- recite the quran how many
- times did you finish the quran but do we
- actually
- reflect upon the quran that we recite
- every um
- every uh ramadan do we do tadaburg
- this is really very important it doesn't
- matter how many times you read the quran
- what matters is the tada
- that you do when you read the quran
- and subhanallah um you know for me
- one of the greatest areas that actually
- um
- subhanallah affect me a lot and
- um it plays a huge role in in who i am
- or achieves who i
- am the ayah 14 of surah
- foreign
- we have believed say you have not
- believed
- but say we have submitted for faith
- has not yet entered your hearts but if
- you obey allah
- and his messenger he will diminish none
- of your deeds
- allah is forgiving and most merciful um
- you know subhanallah the reason i i this
- ayah touches my heart is because
- i think we need to revisit all the time
- ourselves
- we need really to visit our hearts and
- to see
- um are we from the group of the muslim
- mean are we from
- from the menin are we a group of them
- and the top iman is the son
- and subhanallah a lot of us we say that
- we are
- menin or we actually claim that we have
- iman in our hearts
- and this is why i am a firm believer
- that every now and then we need to
- revisit our heart and we value
- our relationship with allah subhanahu wa
- ta'ala in order insha'allah to reach the
- the the time of isa or that
- the top relationship which is uh you
- know
- when it was revealed in the hadith uh of
- uh
- the prophet sallallahu alaihi man
- you know and his uh the levels of iman
- the other point i would like to um point
- out
- is and i know like i am i have only
- three minutes and three minutes you
- cannot say too much
- but you know the uh you know the other
- ayah that really uh always uh
- remind me uh of also the the phase of uh
- visiting the iman as we are familiar
- with the story of the
- muhallabhina and rasulullah they have
- that when he went to yarmouk to fight um
- the room
- and uh a lot of the arab
- said to the prophet sallallahu alaihi
- salam we will not join you because
- they said that we cannot join you
- because we are worried for our
- families and we are worried for our
- women but unfortunately that wasn't the
- reason really
- and they left the prophet sallallahu
- alaihi send them to fight that battle
- when he came back
- there was only three faithful sahabah
- who told
- rasool allah that we have no excuse that
- we left you in that battle we should
- have been there
- and then allah revealed
- um the other thing that i want to say
- for the quran that we not only that
- adapt and see the
- the uh the meanings of the ayat and at
- the same time we try to work by it
- is that basically trying to make
- sure with ramadan or without ramadan
- that we have
- always we always have to make some time
- of our day or our night
- to basically especially in in ramadan
- also
- to read the quran as we say in arabic
- um always make birth of the day
- or the night for three the quran but
- also make
- part of the day for your dicker for your
- a better for your pm
- for your work for your sleep as the way
- you put
- time for to sleep or visit your raheem
- or to to
- to work also made a little bit of time
- for the quran
- allah
- uh that was a good two points
- from al-quran because the whole point of
- today is to be
- empowered by the quran so the question
- is how can we have
- iman enter our hearts and how can we
- not make excuses that don't hold off
- they don't hold any grounds we can
- live and die making excuses and that
- will not get us
- um anywhere subhanallah we have people
- mashallah watching with us
- from malaysia from indonesia there's
- we're multi-streaming into many channels
- and one of these channels actually has
- 750
- 000 uh participants obviously not all of
- them are watching
- but alhamdulillah maybe you cannot see
- them on the
- um on the channel that you are in but on
- other channels we see
- all the feedback here and alhamdulillah
- for every um one
- participant is having a whole family so
- right now inshallah you know we're
- around maybe four or five hundred people
- watching alhamdulillah i mean from all
- the channels
- uh distributed on small and large ones
- um alhamdulillah we have here
- um our brothers
- the band from uh malaysia
- our brothers against masha'allah

- brother shafiq you can introduce our
- next middle schooler
- yes so i will take it away because i
- think
- away from the camera but alhamdulillah i
- had the pleasure of introducing another
- one of our tawaso youth we have
- another youth by the name of farhan who
- will also be speaking
- and i am excited to see what he has in
- store for us
- has empowered me in many ways the quran
- has always been kind of a beacon of
- inspiration for me i've always been able
- to look to it
- whenever i am sad or when i'm angry or
- i'm just not completely
- i'm completely feeling like i can't do
- anything and i can't get anything right
- um the quran has always been kind of um
- the paragon of inspiration for me where
- it kind of tells me that oh
- um don't worry you know everything will
- get better allah gives us to everyone
- it's not just you
- uh everything will be easy for you after
- this and
- um the ayah that highlights this that i
- thought would be great to share would be
- [Music]
- um
- will give us all hardships first but
- then after that he's going to give us
- ease and he's going to give us rewards
- for all the hardships and the struggles
- that we went through
- masha'allah brother very outspoken
- and he was nervous because we told
- everyone not to exceed two minutes
- so he was trying to fit so much in a
- very so little
- alhamdulillah that's an
- excellent reminder um let's hear another
- reminder from one of our youth inshallah
- uh sister
- now if we can roll that
- everyone my name is nina and today i'd
- like to talk about why built what end
- empowers me
- the quran empowers me because it shows
- me that everything happens
- for a reason anytime something doesn't
- go my way something i
- really wanted doesn't happen then or
- something i really didn't want
- does happen i know it's for the best
- allah says
- and perhaps you hate a thing that is
- good for you and perhaps you love the
- thing that is bad for you
- allah knows what and with that
- i am content in the midst of this
- pandemic of people
- dying all around the world injustice all
- around us
- and people being evicted from their
- homes unfairly i find strength in the
- fact that with hardship
- comes ease last but not least
- do you not see that allah has made the
- heavens and the earth subservient to you
- astronomers say that there are over a
- hundred
- if sorry about that uh if you can give
- us just a brief moment i think uh the
- video was having some issues so we're
- going to go ahead and try to reload that
- for you all
- mashallah i uh make dua for all of the
- listeners
- meanwhile when you're sitting and
- enjoying the speeches make sure you
- hydrate you drink water you drink your
- tea
- you enjoy listening to our youth you
- enjoy listening to quran
- there is nothing that we're looking to
- accomplish tonight
- more than listening to the quran and
- enjoying the youth speeches and our
- scholars and guest speakers
- to be together in this environment of
- covid and everyone is distant
- so that's uh we're spending a night fee
- so um inshallah if sister sadia
- is the video um
- uh is the video ready alhamdulillah you
- can start it again
- with a sound and picture um
- these technical difficulties are
- expected to happen
- no matter what um
- please go with the next session
- inshallah i will rewind the video and
- we'll play
- after it no problem so
- let's see who we have next on the list
- actually i'm going to interject because
- um you know knowing that it's a
- difference of two to three hours
- my dear brother riyad shamma is with us
- from
- ohio masha'allah he also leads a youth
- organization
- he has a passion for creating
- mentors like teaching how our
- youth the older youth can mentor the
- younger youth
- when they mentor they themselves grow
- and they help the other youth grow so i
- don't know
- if uh brother riyad you're still with us
- here masha
- allah i am can you tell us a little bit
- about
- your organization 25 years ago when i
- met brother riyad
- we both did not have white hair now we
- both
- we were like a shiny redheads
- masha'allah
- and now you can see what time has done
- to us
- uh for inviting me i do remember our
- first
- meeting and how exciting it was uh to
- have you with us you brought so much
- energy masha'allah
- uh to the youth and that's uh always
- carried through for me
- uh i started the institute of youth
- development and excellence
- a number of years ago with the principle
- of
- enabling our youth to live to their
- fullest potential and that's our vision
- that every youth in the world will live
- to their fullest potential
- and we believe that happens by putting
- positive adults in their lives
- i.e mentors and that when mentors are
- trained they have the skills to best
- help the youth and help them grow and so
- about a club fake for all the work that
- you're doing
- there with the youth and inshallah we we
- really hope that
- others can start to step forward to get
- trained so that they're
- actually working with the youth in the
- very best of ways
- and of course people can check us out
- iyde.org
- or why transform dot com but uh
- insha allah i just want to share a few
- things about the quran however
- tonight and one of the key things was
- how do we make the quran impact our
- daily life
- and so the number one tip is read the
- quran
- every day of your life so you can't make
- it a part of your life if you're never
- spending time with it
- so number one is as dr iman had
- mentioned and some of the others
- make some time every day for quran even
- if it's just a little bit of time
- then make some day for all the quran
- number two i would say
- find a reciter that moves your heart you
- know mashallah we live in the digital
- age
- and any of us can get onto youtube and
- find a hundred or a thousand different
- reciters
- somebody out there will be reciting in a
- way that really
- moves your heart and and different types
- of recitation resonate with us
- differently
- but find someone with a beautiful
- recitation that
- that you particularly enjoy that
- connects your heart
- masha'allah our malaysian brothers uh
- what a beautiful recitation
- and and just subhanallah spend a little
- bit of time
- and what a great use of your time to to
- go through youtube and
- you're gonna get sucked down that social
- media hold but spend it
- being you know reviewing hundreds or
- dozens of different quran reciters
- uh and then figure out which ones speak
- to your heart
- then make sure that while you're
- listening to the quran you understand
- the quran
- so if you don't understand arabic and
- that might even be true even if you're
- an arab
- you're hearing the quran but you don't
- understand it read along in a language
- you understand
- a translation so as you're hearing the
- ayat and the verses
- you're understanding what's being said
- so that that
- movement of your heart is tied to an
- understanding
- and then ask allah to grant you insights
- and
- an understanding that moves you to
- actually taking
- some action in your life so have that
- again as dr eman said that to double
- that deep reflection and thinking
- so here in aya that for some reason it
- stirs your heart
- and then look at the meaning and
- translation and see
- what it's saying and then reflect upon
- why does this particular ayah
- stir your heart at this moment in time
- and understand that
- you might hear the same ayah 10 years
- from now and it moves you in a
- completely different way
- because allah opens a different
- understanding for you at that time
- and this is the beauty of the quran that
- you can never exhaust its meaning and
- its understanding
- and that's why you can keep going back
- to it over and over but really reflect
- upon
- that ayah read the tafsirs about it
- again you can find them online very
- easily
- and then most importantly take some
- action
- based on that ayah so
- inshallah this is something that all of
- us can do
- listen to the reciters that move our
- hearts read the meanings of the ayat
- and then reflect on them and figure out
- how you can take some action
- on that ayah whether it's motivating you
- to give
- or to volunteer or to forgive somebody
- or to turn back to allah or maybe it's
- to not lose hope
- or maybe it's something that gives you
- that
- sense of constant
- ease in times of hardship and difficulty
- but look for those ayats and then always
- keep them with you
- and implement them in your life
- insha'allah
- we have read the quran understand the
- quran
- in a language that you understand don't
- don't stop understanding the quran until
- you learn all the arabic language
- read english french persian urdu
- whatever you know you can understand and
- three
- take one concept implement it and enjoy
- it
- you know alhamdulillah we couldn't have
- a
- more concise precise advice on
- a night that could possibly be laylatul
- you know these words i grew up from age
- 13 growing up hearing them every year
- and you mentioned something absolutely
- profound
- you can hear the same thing every year
- and every year you will understand it on
- a deeper level because you're getting
- older
- wiser more experienced and life will hit
- you
- with so many things that you will always
- come back to the quran and find
- a deeper meaning uh masha allah what's
- the difference between us two or three
- hours
- three hours so
- you're almost having to eat your uh
- suhoor
- um we are um having
- uh and also another interjection uh
- we have uh uh alhamdulillah
- this will be a refreshing to remember
- tonight could be leila
- so i want to stop here and say may allah
- everyone that is watching
- your family your loved ones may allah
- give you
- health and wealth and barakah
- in your iman may allah give you a life a
- productive life
- a prosperous life a a a purposeful life
- may allah use you to
- serve humanity to serve his deen to
- serve the truth
- to honor allah's name on earth
- you know we can make dua all day long
- ya allah heal me ya allah finish my uh
- you know get rid of my financial
- problems ya allah get rid of my
- social problems okay let's say allah
- takes care of your health problems
- all of them financial problem all of
- them
- social problem all of them and now they
- have no problem
- you still don't have a purpose you need
- a purpose and a goal so that if allah
- will take all of this
- you're going to be and and that's why
- allah gave us
- a big problem so that when we get busy
- with the big problem we forget about
- the smaller problems the smaller
- problems will go away
- when you have a bigger problem so that's
- my advice to you and that's why i say
- allah make our concern humanity
- the planet muslims the truth
- allah goodness mercy
- enlightenment you know spreading justice
- peace eradicating
- poverty racism prejudicing
- all of these things that is why we're
- asking allah
- to take all of our problems away so that
- we can get busy
- with a bigger problem but we need to
- start getting busy with a bigger problem
- right now right here tonight
- make an intention that you want to give
- your entire life for allah
- and then go and conquer the world go to
- school
- go to college graduate
- open a business start your own company
- get rich and with that money turn around
- and change the world to a better place
- that's what we want to make dua with
- that may allah heal you from any
- sickness
- all of those who are sick including
- myself
- physically may allah heal us from all
- spiritual sickness
- from all the diseases of the heart from
- all the diseases of the
- mind and you know like the twisted mind
- may allah
- make us live a life of security and
- peace and happiness
- so that we are always busy and concerned
- how to guide people to the truth
- serve them give them justice give them
- mercy
- make the world a better place that's
- what we want
- make big dreams brothers and sisters
- only little
- don't make small dreams just yes just
- heal me
- okay and allah will heal you insha allah
- but then what
- make it make a big plan right make a big
- resolution
- uh with that we want to refresh
- ourselves with surat al-qaeda inshallah
- go ahead malik

- oh
- you have another program after this
- inshallah and
- it is our time here in malaysia it's uh
- 4 p.m
- already inshallah we are fasting
- thank you so much for the chance for
- opportunity
- that was a beautiful recitation from
- malik and now then
- she's from in team that really just you
- know revives us here
- who are in the pm i am very pleased to
- announce our next guest speaker who is
- also one of our thewalsa youth
- it is um her name is zaineb and she will
- also be touching on the topic of how the
- quran has empowered her so without
- further ado i introduced zainab
- and to nourish our souls assalamu
- alaikum everyone
- my name is zainab and today i'd like to
- talk about why the quran empowers me
- the quran empowers me because it shows
- me that everything happens for a reason
- anytime something doesn't go my way
- something i really wanted doesn't happen
- or something i really didn't want does
- happen i know it's for the best
- allah says and perhaps you hate a thing
- that is good for you
- and perhaps you love a thing that is bad
- for you allah knows while you know not
- and with that i am content in the midst
- of this pandemic with people
- dying all around the world injustice all
- around us
- and people being evicted from their
- homes unfairly i find strength in the
- fact that with hardship
- comes ease last but not least the quran
- empowers me because it shows me that i'm
- special
- in surah allah says do you not see
- that allah has made the heavens and the
- earth subservient to you
- astronomers say that there are over a
- hundred billion galaxies in our universe
- yet when you look at a map from a bird's
- eye point of view
- you'll see that in the grand scheme of
- things our universe is so small
- that we don't even exist yet allah has
- made the heavens and the earth and
- everything in our universe subservient
- to us
- and i find that so powerful in
- conclusion the quran empowers me to be
- content and more confident
- thank you
- subhanallah it is so amazing to hear
- these strong words of wisdom from our
- muslim youth who have really interpreted
- the quran in their own way
- as a reminder to us all and with that i
- would like to introduce our next guest
- who is also
- a fellow youth here at the wasa her name
- is maryam sirhan she is in college
- she has mentioned a lot memorizing the
- entire and with
- mca and so without further ado
- i'd love for her to take the floor
- today i'm going to talk a little bit
- about how the quran empowers me
- so as i was growing up the quran was
- really kind of like a homework right and
- so it was like one of those things where
- you're like okay you know medium if you
- don't finish your foot and you don't get
- to play on the tablet
- or whatever it may be but as i grew up
- i realized the importance of kind of
- getting
- these lessons and these meanings from
- the quran to relate to my own personal
- life
- and it would kind of come in random
- times so it would be like the sheikh was
- you know reciting
- that would be like wow you know that's
- kind of profound or even you know
- i was reading alone or whatever uh
- whatever it was and
- one of the really big lessons that stood
- out to me in those times
- was the concept of forgiveness in the
- quran you know so many times
- uh so much about how allah forgives and
- about forgiveness in general and even
- even you know the
- prophets when they made mistakes about
- how they also were forgiven
- and that stood out to me and empowered
- me as an individual because
- it was a matter of like also not only
- allah forgiving me i
- i realized that if allah can forgive me
- then i have to try
- to forgive myself as well because when
- you're kind of living in the past and
- you're living in the mistakes you've
- made
- and you know you're always thinking oh
- it's over for me like i can't do this
- you know i'm a terrible muslim
- then there's no growth you're not moving
- forward you're only staying
- in the same place if not if not moving
- backwards so
- that was a really big thing for me that
- i have to
- find it in myself to kind of
- move forward instead of kind of thinking
- okay like i'm done for
- or um you know there's no there's no
- going forward from here
- and so that was just a really big
- empowering moment an empowering lesson
- for me uh from the quran about
- forgiveness and
- sometimes you know when we think about
- forgiveness think about others but not
- only others but also being able to
- forgive yourself
- and learn from your mistakes as well
- two excellent video reminders from our
- youth from
- zainab and maryam being that uh the
- topic tonight is all about the quran i
- would love to
- um you know have one of our youth um
- recite some quran for us
- insha'allah so i'd love to welcome uh
- zainal abdeen for some quran
- it's all yours

- his parents are from iraq his father is
- a hafil himself
- he is a half of his sister is a half ira
- masha allah
- he also teaches quran and
- he is looking for more students
- masha'allah that will be taught by him
- which is unbelievable to see our youth
- not only memorizing but wanting to teach
- it and
- help others memorize alhamdulillah
- so it's good to have you and we make dua
- for you brothers in we make du'a for
- your father
- and masha allah talking about the
- empowerment of the quran
- the father of brother zen subhan allah
- went into a car accident on the fifth
- day of ramadan
- that no human can survive it can survive
- he was driving 65 miles per hour and
- suddenly the car in front of him
- stopped and he slammed into it and
- nothing he broke his thumb
- and the seat belt just pulled on the
- middle
- uh bone and which caused the crack a
- little bit
- but everyone is just wondering how is
- this man still alive
- his name is brother imam hafiz
- he was the imam of the greatest and
- biggest university in iraq the iraq
- university with all of its diversity he
- was the imam of the masjid
- in that university and it is uh
- alhamdulillah we make dua allah heal
- brother adele
- completely sooner than later give him
- his health back
- make him live a long life full of good
- deeds and bless his children
- and his progeny eliamine
- and may allah bless you brother
- he recited surah yusuf because yusuf is
- still alive in this youth
- uh yusuf said no to temptation
- yusuf did not answer hate with hate and
- revenge with revenge he did not
- do that uh and as a result allah made
- him
- the the prince of egypt the man in
- charge so
- we still have use of allah alive in our
- youth
- who are still alive today with that i
- would like to
- introduce my dear friend and
- like a confidante and consultant and
- brother in islam
- and sheikh masha'allah imam tahir anwar
- who masha allah after a long night still
- agree to come and join us
- the floor is yours insha allah please a
- reminder of the quran and any comment
- you would like to give
- him
- to everyone um i it's been it's been a
- very very long day for me
- uh alhamdulillah i i had uh
- three events earlier today and
- um just got done with the khatam at sbia
- and honestly
- i was climbing into bed
- and my wife reminded me and said don't
- you have something you need to do right
- now
- it's a good stuff sometimes i share my
- schedule with her
- and i had honestly i had like i
- completely forgotten and i was getting
- ready to climb into bed and i said yes
- absolutely how you know how could i
- forget and so
- here i am alhamdulillah by the father of
- allah
- you are you uh you were alluding to such
- a beautiful story of
- of uh use of alahi salatu
- you know when we look at the look at the
- quran
- you know of course every story from the
- quran is
- is an amazing beautiful one
- but you know when we when we talk about
- stories there's the story of musa
- alaihissalam there's the story of no
- hare salam
- but there's one that's just really near
- and dear
- to my heart of all stories
- is the story of ibrahim and isma'illa
- the the relationship between
- um a father and son the relationship
- between
- a parent and a child
- and the story begins you know so humbly
- and so
- beautifully um you know when when
- ibrahim alaihim ali
- and his mother in the middle of the
- desert in mecca
- and um you know and and
- and you know he when she when he started
- walking away
- she asked him and said has has allah
- command you to do this
- like is this the command of allah and
- at that point she realized that this was
- the command of allah and at that point
- she didn't
- question the fact that he was literally
- leaving her and her infant
- in the middle of the desert and and
- such a strong and powerful couple
- that you know they they had their
- complete this
- against all odds they had their trust in
- allah
- and then the mother performs an action
- just literally almost any any anyone
- would do this you know run from one
- place to the other like literally you
- know you're looking for food or looking
- for something
- and and she just she just you know like
- any mother would
- looking for water for herself and her
- infant you know
- climbs to a hill because it's the
- highest place in the area and says hey
- you know maybe i can see something from
- this hill and she
- she climbs the hill and looks around and
- doesn't find anything and then she
- strolls back down up to the next hill
- and looks for something there and
- the love the mother has for a child you
- know
- um despite everything you know this this
- is the love a mother had for
- for her child and then you know there's
- there's just just in this story there's
- so much that allah reminds us to make
- the effort
- but the result is with allah subhanahu
- wa right the results are always with
- allah we have to do our part
- and allah doesn't reward us based
- on the end result allah rewards us on
- the actions that we do to get there
- whether they end up resulting um you
- know in
- uh you know in our favor or not and
- and subhanallah this running of this
- mother from one place to the other
- literally becomes an act of ibadah and
- worship
- for generations to come
- until the day of judgment that
- it's such a powerful
- form of worship and then of course allah
- subhanahu wa
- allah blessed them with zamzam and you
- know we just as muslims we kind of go on
- umrah or hajj and just drink the zamzam
- and bring some back and
- you know we're reminded that there's
- shifa in this and so on and so forth
- but like just think of the legacy right
- something as simple as a well and and
- how it began
- right the love between a mother and a
- child
- is where it all began right the love
- between a mother and a child
- is is where it all began and that you
- know
- billions of individuals drink from it
- you know on on a regular basis on an
- annual basis and
- god knows bring you know take takes they
- take it back with them wherever they go
- we believe that there's shifa
- in the water there's acceptance of duas
- in the water
- but really while it happens to be holy
- if you come to think of it it's just
- really a well and and it started with
- the story of a mother and a child
- right and then the gift that allah
- subhanahu wa
- blessed them with of course we move you
- know they built the kaaba
- and they made dua to allah for
- acceptance but one of the things
- and you know we we when we think about
- all of this is that is that is the dua
- of ibrahim
- ibrahim the quran is filled with a lot
- of duas
- and many of those duas happen to be
- in the quran
- right the the dua that we make make for
- salah
- make you know make me amongst those who
- establish prayer and from my progeny
- oh allah accept my prayers there's
- another place where allah says and this
- is
- the two of us those who submit to you
- and our progenies until the
- day of judgment
- in other words that you know of all the
- things that we
- continue to do in life uh never
- ever forget that um
- we can never achieve success without
- certain foundations
- okay certain foundations and
- the first foundation is our
- one of the rights of allah and that is
- prayer
- right like no matter what happens
- whether
- our mind is present whether our heart is
- present or not
- whether we feel like it or not because a
- lot of times people feel like
- you know what's the point in me praying
- if my mind is not present or what's the
- point in me praying if i don't feel like
- praying or what's the point of me
- praying if i'm forced to pray
- it doesn't matter we we are a people of
- a tradition the ulama our pious
- predecessors the scholars remind us
- that even if you are forced to pray even
- if it's hard to pray even if your mind
- and heart is not present pray because it
- will eventually become a habit
- and then slowly that habit will turn
- into something that you enjoy it may
- take some time
- it's struggle but there's we can never
- achieve any success
- whatsoever without salah without
- establishing
- our prayer and if there's one thing that
- i you know if
- i can share this evening or this morning
- uh with with all of us and myself
- included
- and you know i like all of you uh you
- know there's a lot of young people that
- have logged on
- uh like all of you i i was young at one
- time
- you know there's days when i still think
- i'm young
- um but you know i was young and i
- struggled you know we all we've all been
- through this waking up for fajr
- you know is challenging sometimes you
- know the middle of the day there's a
- prayer that needs to be done and you
- know you're busy or at school or you
- know you're not in the most best place
- to pray
- in the evening you're home you're tired
- but we have to keep in mind that
- our success right literally our success
- the doors of god's mercy the doors of
- god's blessings open up for us
- with prayer and you know sometimes we
- feel like
- oh but no my life is still hard i mean
- think about it you know the terms easy
- and hard are very very relative
- right they're very very very relative
- i mean if if
- subhanallah i don't mean to say this but
- i just want people to think about this
- for for the vast majority of us if
- if our lives remain status quo
- we received nothing more than what we
- just have right now
- we would still be amongst the top one
- percent of the people in the world
- right just in terms of our
- you know access to luxuries you know
- health care hot wa water
- i won't even say hot water fresh water
- you know health care yes i understand
- the american health care system is
- messed up
- and you know and i know about this very
- well as as
- you know people who have individuals in
- our families who
- you know have uh health issues but
- despite that you can get it my family is
- from india
- my family is from india right now we as
- you know as india so so the mother assad
- that i studied at you know i studied it
- i studied there for seven or eight years
- they along with a local hospital came
- together and converted one of the large
- halls in the madrasa as a covid
- hospital okay um we all sent money you
- know i mean
- even i got a request you know please
- send some money we went so we all you
- know whatever we could do
- you know all of us students people from
- that town we all
- sent in money as we normally would
- subhanallah
- you we have all we have the beds we have
- everything set up
- but something as simple as oxygen can't
- find it anywhere
- the the supplies the supplies that have
- been sent
- uh as aid to this land
- um have not been distributed why because
- they're probably being sold
- in the in in you know in in this you
- know in
- in a market where you know whoever has
- top dollar will get the supplies in
- other words the poor and needy are not
- getting it
- if you happen to be of a certain faith
- background a certain ethnic background
- you're not getting those services
- there's no way you will ever ever see
- those supplies
- right and so you know subhanallah
- and i'm not saying that we ask allah for
- status quo all i'm saying is that
- when we continue to pray sometimes we
- may not
- get everything that we so desire but
- let's not forget that some of the things
- that we have in life
- right now could simply be with us as a
- result of the prayers that we're already
- doing
- right we may not have the luxuries in
- life but we may have the basic
- necessities in life as a result of our
- prayers
- the second takeaway from this entire uh
- you know story
- is uh the love uh between um you know a
- parent and a child
- um you know i i i'm you know i i will be
- the first one you know subhanallah the
- muslim community has grown
- um and you know you have a lot of youth
- programs
- events mosques mosques that have
- services in english
- you know when i was when i was a young
- man growing up here in san jose
- california
- in the 80s and the 90s you could forget
- about half of the things that you know a
- lot of young men and women have today
- and i don't i don't mean to say like oh
- my god you know you guys are
- no i'm just i'm just trying to state a
- fact here right just state a fact here
- that you know um you know immigrant you
- know immigrant parents were all the same
- like if if a lot of if a lot of you feel
- that your parents or some of your elders
- you know
- uncles and aunties at the mosque they
- don't understand our challenges
- trust me 20 years ago 25 years ago
- it was a whole different level of not
- understanding your challenges if you
- know what i'm saying like at least today
- our parents you know go to the khutba
- they probably walk away with something
- you know about modern day culture
- and you know um issues that young men
- and women have
- at the local you know in their
- communities 20 25 years ago
- you know that was like parents just went
- to the khutba just kind of heard
- whatever
- you know and i'm not i'm not trying to
- bad mouth to show you or the mosques or
- anyone that's not the goal that's not
- the intent that's not the point i'm
- trying to make
- it's just that if if some of us if some
- of us young men and women have a hard
- time thinking that
- you know our my parents don't get it
- trust me 25
- those of us that are in our you know 40s
- now that have lived here for this many
- years
- like 25 years ago if you think parents
- don't get it now they totally didn't get
- it
- but it was not it was not to any fault
- of theirs
- like don't blame them you know it's it's
- it's it's part of the immigrant
- experience it's just
- part of you know um cultures you're kind
- of not
- our parents are kind of not there but
- they're not here
- if that makes sense right they're not
- here they're not there when they go back
- home wherever it may be
- syria palestine pakistan egypt india
- you know indonesia wherever they go it's
- almost like oh you're not from here
- you're a foreigner you know what i'm
- saying
- and then when they're for when they're
- here it's like oh
- okay but you know yes we're americans
- but what does that even mean
- you know so they're even they're trying
- to figure this out
- so you know and it took me a little
- while to figure this out and i feel
- happy to be in a place where i could
- share this with you guys that
- you know um you know give our parents
- give our parents a break at times
- give them a break just because they
- sometimes don't understand some of the
- things that we do
- um does not give us the the hup or the
- right to disobey them
- does not give us the huck or the right
- to you know um scold them
- to speak with them um you know with with
- a bitter tongue
- um you know and and just earned their
- respect and
- i'm telling you this and i might have
- shared this with you and some of you
- might have heard this before
- um you know i mean some of you might
- have seen my father
- definitely don't know him per se but you
- know she's of course knows him
- you know my dad growing up was just a
- very old school
- very conservative um a parent and and
- you know honestly sometimes i feel like
- it was a beautiful thing you know i mean
- i'm not you know growing up it might
- have been a little hard
- but over the years as i got older
- i figured this out very very soon and
- very very early
- and some of my older cousins from
- england gave me this advice they said
- listen
- your parents come from a culture where
- they want to be respected
- okay our parents come from a culture
- where they want to be respected
- and if even in your most bitter moments
- and even if
- even if in your most angry moments you
- can maintain their dignity and respect
- you will win them over and when you win
- them over
- then they will do everything you say and
- i can tell you this from from my own
- personal experience
- um you know my father is in his mid to
- late 70s
- um he has changed so much
- in the last 20 years but even the last
- you know people think that once you get
- older you don't change
- much and it's hard change is very hard
- when you get older
- and even in the last 10 years i've seen
- my own father change
- so much changed so much of his views
- changed so much of his interactions
- because because you know i'm able to
- have that conversation with my dad and
- and he respects he respects and this is
- not about me being imam tahir really
- okay i don't want i don't want you to
- think like oh yeah but your mom taught
- her no
- it's not about me being about just me
- being about a respectful son where my
- father says oh okay you know what
- i'm able to have a conversation have dad
- you know have you thought about this
- from this perspective
- like you know they you know it's like
- yeah maybe not and they may not say it
- in front of you
- but they think you know and so that's
- what we take away young men and women
- your our our rights with allah
- and and our rights with our parents
- it'll take us a long way
- if anything if anything
- it'll take us to paradise okay if
- anything
- is going to take us to paradise and
- that's what we're all on that's where we
- all want to get eventually but
- in addition to that it makes our life
- here easier as well
- now i will also add that i know many
- young men and women have come my way and
- you know some of their parents have just
- been you know
- um just very very difficult and very
- very hard
- honestly that's what these blessed
- nights are for raise your hands and make
- dua to allah say allah my
- my father or my mother they just don't
- understand something about my life it
- could be something around
- school career marriage you know
- different things and
- like genuinely raise your hands and and
- and
- and make do up for them um i i have a
- friend
- um you know uh growing up and you know
- we grew up together
- um here in california and um you know
- father became the family was initially
- not very practicing at all
- um and this is a this is years and years
- and years ago um you know
- maybe even before your parents got
- married let alone anything else but
- you know his father became practicing
- very soon
- and and a mother on the other hand was
- not practicing at all in fact
- you know she was on the deep end of not
- practicing if that makes sense
- and again we're not bad mouthing anyone
- i'm just trying to explain to you as an
- example that's all i'm saying
- and um and he would always tell me that
- you know
- my father and this was when his father
- was relatively younger in his 30s and
- 40s
- he said my father wakes up in the middle
- of the night and makes so much dua for
- my mom
- right makes so much dua for my mom and
- of course from the over the years things
- changed and you know
- it shall look you know it's just amazing
- but what i mean to say is
- ladies and gentlemen the power of prayer
- is very strong
- don't give up on prayer don't give up on
- prayer
- um and and you know we you know with
- prayer comes with a lot of other
- responsibilities sometimes we feel like
- oh yeah
- i'm gonna raise my hands for about four
- minutes ask allah and then wake up in
- the morning and then disobey allah you
- know like go back to my regular life
- well
- kind of doesn't work that way you know
- what i'm saying like it's a package deal
- you got to put it all together you got
- to stitch all the pieces together to
- make it actually eventually work if you
- don't stitch all the pieces together
- it's not going to happen
- so yeah that's that's really all um you
- know i have to share i don't i don't
- have a lot to say
- god bless you all i'm happy to see all
- of you online this late in the morning
- or or this late at night and may may
- allah bless you and your families
- sorry about that
- we said this will be a relaxing uh event
- alhamdulillah
- and everybody is is welcome and uh
- masha'allah
- for the reminders relationships with our
- parents
- aside from the quran that we need to be
- reminded of
- tonight make dua for your parents
- parents make dua for your children and
- let's all make dua for one another may
- allah make our relationship
- amazing and beautiful
- for coming and joining us and may allah
- give you a blessed
- what one hour of sleep you know
- barely anything if you give me
- permission i will i will take
- leave as i have to um i have something
- to do early in the morning
- of course thank you so much and i see i
- see my dear friend
- hussein so maulana good to see you
- brother man it's been a while
- next uh our brother mufti hussain kamani
- uh
- talking to us are you in dallas mufti
- yes
- sharing with us on this blessed night um
- at a faculty at the kalam institute
- and i don't want to take much because
- time is ticking and they're close to
- suhoor
- so may allah reward you i met mufi
- hussein kamani 10 years ago
- if not more actually more 15 years ago
- at isla convention
- and he gave me two thub as a gift
- masha'allah
- which i actually gifted to my two sons
- and they were the coolest two kids in
- the masjid
- everyone was asking where in the world
- did you get that though
- man and it was the clothing line of
- mufti hussein kamani which still
- actually exists kamani
- but that's just a side item we are
- in the 27th night getting empowered by
- the quran
- inshallah give us a boost
- foreign
- so i'm going to attempt to explain
- something
- that's a little intricate but
- uh i'm going to attempt to do it anyway
- so i need you guys to give me all the
- attention you can muster
- i also have limited time bakari
- mentioned our
- suhoor is just an hour away and what
- just about an hour from now it's going
- to end so it's going to end and i'm
- still at the masjid because we just
- finished
- right now i still have to go home so we
- have a short window and i'm going to try
- to fit the census give me your undivided
- attention let's see if we can do this
- there is an ayah in which allah says
- that when my servants ask you of me or
- messenger of allah
- say i am near.
- i answer the call of the one who calls
- up to me whenever they call out itadan
- so they should respond to me well you
- know they should believe in me
- they may be rightly guided this ayah
- talks about
- calling out to allah making the law of
- allah and when you look at the verses
- before and after
- someone may argue it doesn't fit in
- because there are some filthy rulings
- that come before islamic law
- issues and then this ayah comes in
- and then the ayahs continue on with some
- other rulings what's this ayah doing in
- the middle
- such an intimate beautiful ayah so i
- wanted to examine
- that question that issue and try to
- understand
- and i feel like if we're able to
- understand it there could be great
- and tremendous benefit for all of us if
- we come a few ayats back we find allah
- subhanahu wa
- saying
- fasting has been made obligated upon you
- so you may gain consciousness of allah
- now when it comes to purification of the
- lower self what we call the nafs
- the human being is basically suspended
- between two forces
- the first force is what we call the
- which likes
- it likes to rise connect with the sub
- and then underneath the is what we call
- the
- the self of the human being and
- underneath that column is the nafs the
- lower
- in san haiwani material loving
- force in the life of the human being
- maybe what sigmund freud referred to as
- the it
- so there's a lower pulling force and
- there's an upward pulling force and then
- in the middle there is the south in sun
- that houses
- now now when because there is an
- overwhelming
- force that's constantly pulling us to
- materialism into
- worldly distractions into sometimes even
- disobeying allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
- speak of the importance of purifying
- yourself of that
- now how do you go around purifying
- yourself so
- there are two principled approaches they
- take the first is what they call tahlia
- which is to purify to clean the heart
- and then the second is tahlia which is
- to beautify
- so a simple analogy if for example
- here wants to take a picture of the of
- the shelf behind him and post it
- on instagram what he needs to do first
- is first he needs to clean it up make
- sure he gets rid of all the gunk all the
- garbage all the dust
- any crumbs he has and wrappers get rid
- of all of it clean it up
- and then he needs to bring in the props
- bring in all the decor
- bring in the books that he wants to
- showcase or any lighting that he wants
- so first you have to clean and then you
- beautify this is why
- we say la ilaha first and then ii
- la ilaha is a negation it's you
- purifying
- it's cleaning it's
- an affirmation it's you beautifying your
- heart and adding
- the most absolute truth into your life
- which is that only allah
- exists so now when we go back to the
- ayah we find allah in this ayah tells us
- to
- fast and fasting is about negating
- you're not doing something in fasting
- you're negating in fasting you're
- negating
- submission to your carnal passion you're
- negating submission
- to your appetite you're learning to say
- no to your own nuts that i won't do it i
- won't do it i won't do it
- for the sake of allah otherwise hunger
- itself
- doesn't result in spirituality it's
- hunger for the sake of allah
- that takes a person on the whole journey
- without the sound intention
- actions themselves don't carry much
- weight this is what
- makes the awliya of allah the friends of
- allah unique that their actions lead
- their ahmad
- well for us lead our actions where we're
- trying to constantly catch up with
- intentions because
- our actions aren't just meaningless or
- mundane they're going
- happening you know anyway
- now if you look at the ayah after that
- allah subhanahu wa then says
- so the first ayah is about refraining
- the second ayah
- is about engaging beautifying
- as a month of the quran of allah when it
- took me right that way
- glorify praise allah and if you do this
- you will be perhaps thankful to allah
- with god so when you
- negate your submission to your lower
- self and you stand up against temptation
- and you say i won't give in
- when you become aware of it when you say
- no to the nephs you become aware of
- yourself it's almost a moment of birth
- like you're breaking that
- collar off of your neck from shaytan and
- you're saying i'm done
- and then as you begin to praise allah
- you're watering that plant and then you
- begin to see the soul come to life
- and perhaps you'll thank allah and in
- these na in these
- nights of ramadan these days of ramadan
- after almost 25 plus days of fasting
- the nufs has taken a beating all that no
- no no and then on top of that
- all of us it's giving the soul some
- some strength and when these two things
- come together
- now the insane spirit of the insane is
- released
- and the first place it wants to go is to
- connect back with allah as it's
- natural disposition of the inside to
- connect with allah
- and as it wants to grow and elevate and
- connect to allah
- now allah answers
- as soon as that soul is released it's
- going to come searching for me
- and muhammad when they go searching for
- me tell them that i'm close
- i was always close i actually didn't go
- anywhere
- i was right next to you unfortunately
- you were fogged unfortunately you were
- blind
- you didn't see it but i've always been
- here waiting for you
- waiting for the moment that you would
- turn back
- unfortunately our relationship with
- allah subhanahu wa has become like that
- of a cashier
- where we acknowledge their existence we
- transact with one another
- but there's no affection love needs to
- be brought back into this relationship
- because as long as we continue on this
- path of worshiping allah without loving
- him
- i'm not sure how much spiritual benefit
- we're going to gain
- and how many more people will be lost in
- this battle
- who will see no value in worshiping
- allah
- these movements represent our submission
- but ultimately submission is of heart
- our purpose in life while we live in
- order for us to start our journey
- back to allah to connect with allah
- starts with us
- admitting our buddhia that we are slaves
- and servants of allah
- when i go into sajdah i'm going to have
- to kick the arrogance out the window
- and if i i'm not willing to do that
- there's no such thing acceptable
- so many things to say so little time
- but i'll leave it there and i pray that
- allah grants us still fear
- i wanted to thank chef bakari for
- inviting me honestly
- um his love is just so unwarranted i
- can't tell you guys
- it's so unwarranted his love is just
- overwhelming
- i remember i think i met his brother
- once in indiana and i thought it was
- hey he said i get that a lot and then he
- told me of his
- uh dean was in the bay area
- but anyway i'm very thankful to him for
- inviting me once again and for
- allowing me to be with you all folks it
- was great being here with you
- i ask you all to keep me in your duas
- maybe one of you is
- all of you are the only and i'm in need
- of those duas so if you can
- in that moment when you raise your hand
- and if you find yourself at the moment
- of sincerity
- say this sinner's name before your lord
- too for we hope for someone's
- intercession
- to reach our abode in the hereafter
- allah
- thank you for answering our invitation
- um and
- uh may allah bless your health your
- wealth your
- family put barakah because this is
- allah said
- is actually with us from indonesia
- he teaches quran and masha'allah his
- brother here
- is now leading salah at wvma
- and it's uh his brother ibrahim
- and uh masha'allah they are a family of
- her father family of
- and they're beautiful and amazing and
- masha allah
- i the original intention that it was
- recite for us quran but i asked him
- right now to if he can give us
- a nasheed he's well known in indonesia
- well known teacher well sought after
- their teacher they are from yemen masha
- allah their teacher
- has one of the highest is not all the
- way
- uh to prophet muhammad when he memorized
- the quran
- his teacher from the teacher to the
- teacher to the teacher is
- one of the highest ejazzas in the world
- recognized so much allah blessed family
- if you first could yani recite for us
- maybe just two ayat
- and then after that you can give us some
- nasheed insha allah we want to hear your
- voice in the
- [Music]
- um
- um
- oh

- [Laughter]

- who's carrying the quran you
- are a beacon of light you are a source
- of guidance you
- are a source of joy uh you
- you see the world differently you're
- gonna be up for a lot of challenges
- so that's the song about the carrier the
- hamil
- of al-quran in sha allah ibraheem
- we will allah
- so i told him we're going back to him
- inshaallah allah ask brother shafiq to
- introduce our next speaker
- thank you
- our next speaker is a young man a very
- talented youth
- he's also you know a product of tawasa
- very heavily involved um omar wasim he's
- an amazing
- filmmaker and photographer actually he
- went um
- he went with the wall saw on an amazing
- morocco trip where he documented it
- using his videography skills and uh
- i'm sure he has a lot to tell us about
- that um he graduated high school last
- year and i think he's now taking a gap
- year to pursue different things
- he has a a clothing line as well
- mashallah is a very busy youth and i
- pray to allah that he continues to use
- his
- creative talent to empower uh the quran
- and to
- shine light on the quran to other youth
- like him uh
- it's all yours brother all right well
- jazakallah for the introduction
- um all right so i guess at some point if
- you're scrolling through instagram or
- facebook you might have come across the
- motivational quote that reads
- you're the sum of the five people
- closest to you or
- my personal favorite surround yourself
- with five millionaires and you will be
- the sixth
- like okay like how am i supposed to just
- find five millionaires
- in fact i personally find it even harder
- to believe when i remember that
- i know people that google google
- but anyways um beyond the e-commerce
- motivational guru posts
- i think there's a lot of truth in the
- importance of uh
- surrounding yourself with the right
- people i'm gonna share my story i was
- very
- easily influenced kid in middle school
- and that could have gone very wrong but
- alhamdulillah i joined a hips program
- and what this meant was that i was
- always surrounded by
- students and teachers of the quran my
- his friends and i
- all embraced our muslim identity pretty
- early on and anytime we had questions or
- any
- type of problem in our life our chefs
- would like always sort it out for us
- and because of the way the program was
- because of the way the program was
- structured
- i spent basically all of my teenage
- years at the masjid
- my closest friends are people i've met
- through my programs and i even got my
- first in-person job
- through the masjid and credit to sheikh
- for that
- alhamdulillah i feel like my overarching
- outlook on life has always been pretty
- positive
- i've never dealt with you know addiction
- or anything else that people my age
- sometimes fall into
- and a large part of that is because of
- my parents but when i was writing this
- speech i talked to some of my friends
- and we all agreed that it is harder to
- fall into the wrong things
- when you are constantly surrounded by
- people of god and that sense of
- community
- is probably like the best most
- empowering gift
- that the quran could have given me the
- prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam says
- a person is on the way of life of his
- companions therefore let every one of
- you carefully consider the company he
- keeps
- um i think we're not to jinx anything i
- think we're almost nearing the end of
- covet inshallah and most of the events
- are definitely starting to pick up again
- so try to make it a priority to show up
- to at least a few
- um they're always a good time and you
- know you could make more
- you could make new friends or you could
- tighten your bonds with your muslim
- friends that you already have
- i see a lot of i guess my high school
- friends and a couple of college students
- here
- so my parting words to sound
- philosophical are surround yourself with
- five millionaires
- and you might be the sixth but surround
- yourself with just one person
- who pushes you closer to allah and
- inshallah you'll never have to worry
- about going down the wrong path
- that was a lot of wise words from you
- quite
- late in the night and it's honestly
- great to hear i love hearing
- how ortho also you really interpret this
- and you know really have their own
- experiences to share
- um as we you know delve into this so
- that was great um and by the way i
- realized you did your hives with
- mca nour which is great um you are now
- the second speaker here who we have
- as a product of that which is honestly
- quite great to hear um
- next we have another though also youth
- who i'm very excited to introduce her
- name is dima
- she have a she has a speech lined up for
- us and
- without further ado dima the floor is
- yours i am very excited to hear what you
- have to say
- what i just said we say at least 17
- times every single day
- but do we truly understand what it means
- when we say allah is
- the most gracious the most merciful
- because allah he created every little
- microscopic cell
- he created humans he created the earth
- he created galaxies and universes
- and he created the seven heavens and in
- comparison to his throne
- his ash alone the seven heavens and
- everything in them is like a ring it's
- like a ring that's lost
- in a desert allah does not need us we
- are so
- small and we are so insignificant and
- yet all we have to do is raise our hands
- and speak to him and he listens to us
- and he provides
- and he sustains and the quran in and of
- itself is a blessing
- because allah could have just let
- humanity be he could have let us ruin
- ourselves because we would ruin
- ourselves
- he could have let us ruin our lives and
- destroy but he sent
- down guidance and it's only when we
- really understand how merciful allah is
- that we can practice that good trusting
- him
- because we live we live in a world where
- we
- are made to believe that if we want
- something really hard or if we
- if we work really hard for it if we want
- it really badly then we'll get it and
- when we don't we can feel defeated
- um personally a few years ago i had some
- friends
- um best friends actually we used to talk
- about like how our kids would hang out
- but
- something happened in the group
- dismantled and i really wanted to save
- our friendship
- like these were my friends for like
- multiple years but
- i did everything i could like i gave
- them space i gave them time i tried to
- talk to them but it just wasn't
- salvageable
- and like that was a really hard period
- in my life but it wasn't
- until i lost those friends that i was
- able to get closer to some of the
- greatest people in my life
- and that's when i really understood that
- things happened for a reason
- that allah had a better plan for me i
- just didn't see it at that time
- another instance actually recently was
- choosing a mentor i was in a program
- where we could choose our mentor
- and i had my heart set on this one
- person and i believed i would get this
- person because we had bonded and it was
- like
- like it was a perfect match but i didn't
- get them and my heart sank
- what's upon allah like if i had known
- the mentor i did end up getting i would
- have chosen this person from the
- beginning
- so it just goes to show that we really
- don't know anything
- we may think we know what we want we may
- think we know what's best for us
- but only
- there is no god but him and upon allah
- let the believers rely
- we have to trust allah's plans we have
- to do our part
- we have to tie our camel but we also
- have to have the faith
- we have we also have to have faith that
- whatever allah has planned for us
- is best for us we may not see it and we
- may not feel it
- but if we know and i mean truly
- understand that allah is the
- all-gracious
- the all-merciful then who else would you
- trust with your fate
- will
- that was really insightful and another
- great reminder of how you know rarely
- allah is the greatest of planners
- and it's always a good reminder to hear
- that um i will now pass it back to
- and he can help us close the event
- inshaallah
- we have last two three segments they're
- all short alhamdulillah
- including the speech of uh imam
- zaitshakir may allah reward him
- um i would like to ask our young
- brother yaseen masha
- this night has been full of youth who
- are half of
- or active or uh you know masha'allah
- you know on the right path very
- reassuring to see this
- and inshaallah will may allah you know
- keep them going so here we have brother
- yaseen masha allah go ahead
- if you can recite for us from surat
- maryam the few verses
- about saydna yahya ali

- and when did you finish your heaven and
- i finished my head around six years ago
- six years ago masha'allah you your
- father
- is from somalia your mother is from
- nigeria and you spent how many years in
- yemen learning
- um i i live in saudi for around two uh
- two and a half years yeah
- that's awesome a beautiful voice
- beautiful delivery
- and jazakallahu for joining us tonight
- alhamdulillah
- um masha'allah um we're we're gonna move
- on inshaallah
- uh with our uh program and
- we have the last uh two three segments
- i'm looking here we have the video of
- uh imam zaid shakar who recorded a
- message
- to us alhamdulillah as he was on the
- east coast and uh
- time was impossible as a matter of fact
- tonight we had sister
- yasmin mujahid she thought that she
- could make it
- but then she realized it will be exactly
- the time of suhoor in new york so she
- uh asked for our permission to uh opt
- out and alhamdulillah we didn't pressure
- her
- so alhamdulillah we have a lot of good
- line of speakers
- uh sister sadio if we can run the
- message of sheikh zayche
- and i'm greeting all of the wonderful
- brothers and sisters complete uh
- participating rather at any level
- in the mca youth kian
- the mca youth kiam has brought together
- teachers
- such as sheikh al-addin and beckery and
- others
- and wonderful students such as
- yourselves
- those who have supported you
- administratively and logistically
- to really create a wonderful program
- focusing on the
- and how we can be empowered by the quran
- the first thing is to engage the quran
- empowerment to use the term uh
- through the quran is not a philosophical
- exercise
- we can read philosophically about
- everything the quran can do for us but
- if we do not
- engage the quran if we don't recite
- is there a problem with the video
- because the the connection stopped
- alhamdulillah inshallah um
- we will try to go back while you know
- fix the video inshallah maybe we will
- end that with that video
- do you have another nasheed for us
- um

- very desired you know teacher in
- indonesia who lives in jakarta
- right now so alhamdulillah i mean
- inshallah
- up to the end of the month insha allah
- masha'allah again
- uh we're a bit over time we're going to
- have a second try with that video and
- that will be the last segment
- i will end up with a quick short dua and
- inshallah you can go on with your
- evening inshaallah sister sadia do you
- think we can run it again
- bismillah
- and i'm greeting all of the wonderful
- brothers and sisters complete uh
- participating rather at any level
- in the mca youth uh kian
- the mca youth kiam has brought together
- teachers
- such as bakery and others
- and wonderful students such as
- yourselves
- those who have supported you
- administratively and logistically
- to really create a wonderful program
- focusing on the quran how we can be
- empowered
- by the quran the first thing is to
- engage the quran empowerment
- to use the term uh through the quran
- is not a philosophical exercise
- we can read philosophically about
- everything the quran can do for us
- but if we do not engage the qur'an if we
- don't recite the quran
- if we don't endeavor to memorize
- something of the quran if not the quran
- and it
- in its entirety if we are not
- passionately
- connected to trying to understand the
- quranic message be that
- through learning and the arabic language
- or through reading the various
- interpretations and commentaries that
- exist in our case
- uh in english so it's very important to
- engage the quran
- omar relates from the prophet salallahu
- [Music]
- allah elevates by means of this
- scripture
- some people and he debases others
- those who are elevated by them by it
- they are those who recite it
- there are those who study it they're
- those
- those who endeavor to implement it
- and so this is very important uh
- for us the unique quranic generation
- that's referred to by said kotov and
- others
- is is a generation that
- took ten verses of the quran and didn't
- go forward until they
- understood and implemented everything in
- those ten verses and then they proceeded
- and so that's how we are empowered
- empowered by the quran is understanding
- that
- it connects us to the divine the the
- the source of all power la
- there's no strength or power except with
- allah
- except with allah and so as we read the
- quran we have to understand we're
- communicating directly
- with our creator with the creator of
- all that exists with the lord of the
- world worlds
- that the when we read the quran this is
- the eternal speech of allah
- that's being conveyed to us and we have
- to understand that because
- understanding that helps us to plug into
- a power greater than ourselves
- when we say empowered let's say your
- battery is dead it's lost
- out all power how do we empower
- that battery how do we recharge that
- battery
- we empower that battery if you will by
- connecting it to a source of power
- greater than itself
- this is how we empower that battery and
- this is how we empower ourselves by
- plugging into a power greater than
- ourselves
- and in this case it's not plugging the
- battery and
- connecting with jumper cables to a
- stronger battery that's being powered by
- a car alternator
- from from a good car a good battery good
- alternator to that
- weak battery we don't do it like that
- we do it by connecting our hearts to
- allah subhanahu wa tala
- and we connect our hearts to allah
- subhanahu wa ta'ala through the quran
- which is a form of vikar so it's through
- zikr
- that we connect our hearts to a power
- greater than ourselves
- does not the remembrance of allah bring
- contentment and tranquility
- to the heart and so the quran
- this is the most rewarded letter
- and if
- [Music]
- is an individual letter lam is an
- individual letter
- meme is an individual letter and each
- letter will be rewarded 10 times over
- and that 10 times is multiplied another
- 70
- times in ramadan 700 times for every
- letter
- this is the most highly rewarded dicker
- but there are others
- in their situation so when we get in the
- car
- uh we don't read quran we say
- subhanallah
- and that in that instance is the most
- highly rewarded
- vicar in the way of the prophet
- sallallahu salaam
- implementing his advice but generally
- speaking it's the quran
- our all-rod and if everyone should have
- a weird that they do in the morning and
- evening because that vicar connects us
- to allah
- and you choose it can be anything from
- the weird allah
- from the hadrami tradition in scholars
- it could be the matarat of al-imam
- hassan al-banna
- it could be any number of things but can
- have a weird of vicar because the vicar
- helps to connect your heart to allah
- subhanahu wa'ta'ala
- and connecting your heart to allah
- subhanahu wa tala
- opens it up to be receptive to that
- power greater than itself
- so this is critically important in terms
- of
- empowering ourselves through the quran
- third and finally by humbling ourselves
- by humbling ourselves because when we
- humble ourselves
- we understand that we are the servant
- and allah is our lord
- these days we have what is called the
- new anthropomorphism
- the old anthropomorphism we projected
- human-like qualities unto allah
- subhanahu wata'ala
- so when you say falca a d
- him we say oh one of these things that's
- anthropomorphism it is haram
- it is forbidden it can be shirk
- but these days we have what one of the
- noted christian theologians referred to
- as the new anthropo anthropomorphism so
- if the old one
- the traditional one human beings
- projected
- human-like qualities unto god so god is
- this
- man with a big beard sitting on the
- throne in the clouds
- that's pure anthropomorphism the new
- anthropomorph
- promorphism we project
- godly divine qualities unto humans
- and so we determine
- oh that couldn't be haram that couldn't
- be forbidden
- because it's insensitive
- and god could never be insensitive and
- so we determine
- what's lawful or what's unlawful what's
- fit or what's proper
- what's uh moral or immoral
- and to avoid falling into that trap of
- modernity or post-modernity
- more accurately we need to humble
- ourselves why what happens
- we're talking about empowerment our
- prophet mentions
- so people are giving us sadaka it's
- ramadan and there's a
- charity will never decrease your your
- wealth
- this is the sound this narration is
- and so these are the knights who were
- seeking allah's pardon
- when uh the prophet sallallahu sallam
- advised i shared
- what she should say in the these nights
- you are the one who pardons you love to
- pardon pardon us
- and then finally
- no one humbles themselves for the sake
- of allah
- except that allah elevates them
- except that allah elevates them so it's
- very important for us brothers and
- sisters
- to understand
- our religion to understand its
- implications
- to understand how we
- empower ourselves it's not through
- material means
- we don't empower ourselves by going to
- the gym we our muscles get bigger we're
- more powerful
- no we empower ourselves by spiritual
- means
- and the greatest of those means is the
- quran and the quran
- is a means for us to connect to allah
- subhanahu wa'ta'ala
- the gold is allah subhanahu wa and
- nothing
- other better than the quran makes that
- clear to us
- [Music]
- then leave them launching into their
- empty sport playing amusement
- this is imam zai shakir and allah bless
- all of you
- to all of those who participated who
- taught
- who helped to make the mca youth
- happen
- at
- uh profound advice um
- that all of us need to hear may allah
- guide
- the youth uh to the best of all
- deeds inshallah the point that he's
- making like okay
- yeah we tell god what
- how god has to say and not to say and
- then now we become we attribute godly
- attributes to ourselves now we get to
- decide what halal and
- we get to decide what's right from wrong
- what's truth from falsehood
- oh my god so inshallah we don't go that
- route may allah help our youth with that
- um um i would like to you know
- make dua inshallah at the end as i have
- promised
- my heart has been very heavy the whole
- day the last 24 hours
- and i truly feel way much better after
- participating in this pyaam
- because of what has been happening in
- philistine in jerusalem
- it's a it's a historical historical
- moment of
- you know epic proportions what's
- happening we're witnessing
- another cycle of history subhanallah so
- i make dua that allah will
- save al masjid al-aqsa from demolition
- i make dua to allah azzawajal that allah
- will save the palestinians who have been
- living there for thousands of years
- in east jerusalem and uh what's known as
- sheikh jarrah neighborhood
- that they will stay at their homes
- because they have no other home
- and they don't know where else to go but
- they're being like
- you know taken one after another one
- family after another just get attacked
- and kicked out of their house very
- simply you know done
- uh and people were praying seventy
- thousand people were praying
- salate tarawih and they were just like
- stormed
- and you know it turned into an ugly
- scene so
- subhanallah may allah give these people
- saber and support
- and insha allah may allah preserve
- al-masih al-aqsa and the people who live
- around it and protect it with their
- lives when they have nothing you know
- they just like literally have nothing
- but their bodies
- what uh what a carriage they have
- what uh what a print what a principle
- that they live with what an identity
- they have
- really unbelievable subhanallah
- we're talking about beyond david versus
- goliath you know
- you know subhanallah so my dua for al
- masjid al-aqsa in such a beautiful night
- um i have it happened to that i went to
- a miz laksa twice in the last three four
- years and
- it was beautiful in ramadan like
- unbelievable and very
- and and the palestinians who live in
- that area wait for ramadan
- the whole year because that's when you
- know islamic tourism comes and they get
- to
- make money for the rest of the year
- because it's becoming less and less and
- less
- for them so that's what it's uh you know
- on so many level economical
- social political religious stressful
- emotional financial it's on so many
- levels
- may allah preserve them support them
- and and and preserve themselves
- the second thing that i want to read
- here from
- uh you know youtube uh brother um faisal
- akbar says please make dua for me
- that allah makes memorizing the quran
- easy for me may allah
- memorizing the quran very easy for you
- and may allah make retaining what you
- memorized
- very easy for you and may allah give you
- the
- energy and the intention and the
- positivity to
- go on until you do all of it masha allah
- we have sister sophia akbar
- who said please make dua for a measure
- which i already did
- please make dua for my children uh in
- this
- for their success and afiya in this
- world and in the hereafter may allah
- protect you and protect your children
- and give you
- successful prosperous life that you
- spend it
- serving allah in this dunya and making
- great things
- in the name of allah for the sake of
- allah insha allah mean
- we have also like requests and so many
- comments
- beautiful comments from sister rashma
- haider who was attending with us
- we have subhanallah from different
- channels we have maintained over 500
- people attendance the the whole time
- even up to this moment late moment which
- is really humbling alhamdulillah
- and uh it's a it's a success even if
- five people attend
- let alone a 500. uh subhan allah
- alhamdulillah and inshallah we all
- repent to allah i want to thank the
- people in the back
- which is sister sadia and her husband
- brother azeem who always are there
- and nothing that you can see would be
- possible without their offer
- their efforts in the background uh i
- would like to thank
- uh brother shafiq ziyada
- like who's like a young brother to me
- like a son
- and may i would like to make a special
- dua may allah preserve
- his father and give him a good health
- and a good life and a long life full of
- good deeds insha'allah
- and may allah bless your marriage and
- insha allah for years and years to come
- inshaallah you and your brothers and
- sisters and loved ones and entire family
- i would like to make dua for sister noon
- you know no one has been with us from
- the first
- event that we did in the beginning of
- 2018 uh
- honorable mother and beautiful brothers
- and sisters masha allah
- may allah preserve you preserve your
- deen and iman
- and always make you answer the call
- for allah and serve his deen and iman
- insha allah
- what a beautiful i would like to thank
- the technical team that has been with me
- in the same room but you don't see them
- i always make you see them in the last
- second here so we have brother basil and
- his brother masha allah
- adil so they are here to make sure that
- if anything goes wrong
- they fix it on the spot may allah bless
- them bless their mother masha allah who
- raised them well their father
- and the rest of the family may allah
- give them baraka in their health wealth
- time
- energy and deen in sha allah and they
- always
- have the energy to come and serve the
- deen of allah subhana ta'ala
- so with that i would like to thank also
- mca for
- sponsoring this event and all the other
- people who
- live streamed this event on their
- channels masha allah this has been
- amazing
- uh full night with a lot of youth uh
- and uh and and i'm so like it really
- brought life back to me and hope
- masha'allah seeing these amazing
- speakers like as
- brother shafiq said can one of them
- teach me public speaking even i can say
- that about them
- alhamdulillah uh
- [Music]
- for the coming summer events and our
- partnership with mca
