Your Origin Story | Your Relationship With Allah Ep.2 | Sh. Alauddin ElBakri | Ramadan Series
Shaykh Alauddin ElBakri
2 moments mention “Mercy”:
- As-salāmu ʿalaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh
- Last episode, we talked about Allah's grace and blessings upon all of us, before we even came to life
- Allah said in the Quran:
- (Indeed, We created humans in the best form)
- We have created the human in the most perfect, most complete shape and image
- Glory be to Allah, we didn't even mention last episode
- that when Allah created Adam and He taught Adam the name of all the things, that knowledge. He asked the angels,
- and when the angels did not know that knowledge, Allah commanded the angels to prostrate and bow down to Adam out of respect
- That's when Satan erupted
- How come this newcomer to the scene, to earth, comes and takes all the glory, all the love, all the attention? Why not me?
- How come?
- So Satan, may Allah curse him, did not bow down to Adam
- And when Allah SWT asked him why, he said "I am better than him,
- You created me from fire, You created him from clay,
- I am better"
- And even in that point, Satan was wrong
- Because it's funny to know that you can put off fire in two ways,
- either you pour water on it or you pour dirt on it,
- and in both cases, the fire will be extinguished
- So even in that point, Satan was wrong and he was ignorant
- And the pride, the negative pride and the arrogance took over
- And he disobeyed Allah SWT and caused himself to be casted away from Allah's mercy
- This is a lesson for us from the get go
- Who's our enemy and why did Satan end up the way he is?
- Jealousy, false pride, arrogance, boastfulness, huge ego
- Then you end up falling down onto your nose and end up getting nowhere
- And you will be wrong and you will be ignorant too
- Glory be to Allah, with Adam PBUH, Allah mentioned two reasons in the Quran
- One, He told the angels to bow down after teaching Adam the names of all the things
- The other reason is after Allah blew in Adam of his spirit,
- his essence
- (When your Lord said to the angels, “I am going to create a human being from clay.
- So when I have fashioned him and had a spirit of My Own ˹creation˺ breathed into him, fall down in prostration to him.”)
- And your Lord told the angels that I'm going to create a human from clay,
- a mixture of dirt and water,
- once I create him and complete his creation
- then I blow in him of My essence
- then fall into prostration
- Two reasons made you great and made Allah command the angels
- to bow down and prostrate to you out of respect and admiration
- One, your soul
- And it's through your soul that you establish a relationship with Allah SWT
- And two, the proper knowledge about who you are? Who your Lord is?
- What's your mission in this world?
- What's your job?
- What's your role?
- What's your purpose?
- What's your goal?
- And when you fulfill that
- Then you become honorable and high in the eyes of God Almighty, Allah Glory be to Him, the Exalted
- to a point that He will make the angels serve you
- And we know from the Hadith that the angels serve us day and night
- That's fascinating
- What an honor that when we say "Glory be to Allah" the angels record that
- What an honor that when we go and help someone on the street
- who needs a hot meal or a car ride,
- that the angels report that to our Lord Allah SWT
- This is fascinating
- And that shows you your place
- It's fascinating to know that when you're born in this world
- You're born pure, innocent, and sinless
- You're not born with an original sin
- You're not being judged for a mistake that your father did
- Especially that Allah said that when Adam ate from the tree,
- he asked for forgiveness and God forgave him,
- and God bestowed His mercy upon him,
- and God brought him on earth with grace and forgiveness and love
- to do the mission that He originally created him for
- It's very beautiful to know that we came from heaven
- And we want to go back to heaven
- And it's like, once you discover that,
- you realize like I want to go back home
- I want to go back with my creator
- I want to go back with my Lord
- I want to go back to where I came from, Glory be to Allah
- My dear brothers and sisters
- When we come to this world
- The grace and the blessings of Allah do not stop
- You come to this world
- And all of a sudden Allah dedicates to you two servants
- Two servants that are ready to die for you
- That are ready to give everything in their power
- Those are our parents
- Our mom and dad
- And that's why Allah in the Quran, so many times,
- Four times in the Quran, after Allah said
- You shall worship your Lord as one with no partners
- And with love and devotion
- Then number two
- And you should be honorable and good to your parents
- Why?
- Because without your parents
- You wouldn't have survived beyond three days
- Especially the first two years of your life
- This is very important to see
- That this is a continuation of Allah's blessings
- Another blessing upon us
- Before Allah ever asked us to do anything,
- Before He asked us to worship Him,
- He gave us like almost nine, ten, eleven, twelve years
- of childhood before puberty
- in which you're not asked to do anything as an obligation
- You can learn from your parents
- You know you can start to explore
- You know with prayers and with fasting
- But not as an obligation
- Look at that break, that childhood
- that Allah gave you
- and He did not ask you
- and He gave you parents to take care of you
- And now you're growing and growing and growing
- And Allah's blessings did not stop
- You grew up into this adult
- That you have a complete body
- That functions without your involvement
- Imagine if you have to keep on telling your heart
- Beat, beat, beat
- You will not be living
- You'll spend the rest of your life
- Just telling your heart to beat
- Or if you have to tell your lungs
- Inhale, exhale
- Or to tell your kidneys
- Filter, filter, filter
- Or to tell your liver
- Release the enzymes, release them
- You're not going to live
- You have a body that functions completely, perfectly,
- with health
- So that you can be busy with other things
- Allah did not give you the job of making your own body
- run the way it's supposed to run
- So that your mind can be free
- for what He wanted you to think about
- The relationship between you and Him
- This is very important to remember
- That even before Allah asked us to do anything
- He Has given us everything
- And what He asked of us is very little, very small
- And what He asked of us
- Actually turns to our own benefit
- And to our own growth
- And to our own peace and happiness in this world
- It's very important to start this Ramadan
- With being positive
- With seeing all the blessings in your life
- Not focusing on the one or two things
- negative that are going in your life
- Which each and every one of us
- all the time has something wrong going on
- Let's focus on the positive, on the 99%
- And let's use these blessings
- To reflect as now adults
- And to say "Oh Allah, thank you
- for what You have given me,
- so much, before You ever asked me to say anything
- or to do anything!"
- May Allah Glory be to Him
- Grant us gratitude in this Ramadan
- And may Allah make us from the grateful ones
- For truly few people reflect on the points that I've mentioned
- And feel a deep sense of gratitude
- And a deep connection with their Lord Allah Glory be to Him
- May Allah connect us with Him
- Ameen Ya Rabb Alameen
- Wa Assalaamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
