3 moments mention “Mercy”:

  1. Assalaamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh “Peace be upon you”
  2. and welcome back
  3. to this Ramadan series As-Sirat al-Mustaqim "The Straight Path”
  4. Allah SWT
  5. has given us missions that we have to accomplish.
  6. The first one we spoke about, is to establish
  7. justice and fairness, and to stand up for that.
  8. The second one is to establish mercy.
  9. To turn mercy into a policy, a policy
  10. that runs the government, the society, the individual, the family.
  11. And then Allah asked us to establish excellence, to do that which is good
  12. to do it to the best of our ability, and to do it with a touch of beauty
  13. that is asked of us, and then Allah asked us to have moral excellence,
  14. not only excellence in how the buildings look,
  15. but excellence in how the behavior and the character of the human being is.
  16. Today, we will deal with the fourth mission that Allah has given to us,
  17. which is to speak the truth, and to tell others about the truth.
  18. And after we tell them the truth, we leave it up to them,
  19. whatever they want and whatever decision they want to take after that,
  20. to embrace the truth, or to walk away from it.
  21. That's all up to the individual choices of people.
  22. My dear brothers and sisters, the truth is that
  23. which is real, whether there is an observer or not.
  24. And that's why Allah's name is "The Truth" Al-Haqq
  25. Before His creation existed, He was real and He was there.
  26. And after His creation cease to exist, He will be real.
  27. And He is there Subhanahu wa Ta'ala "Glory be to Him, the Exalted" all the time
  28. Now, Allah SWT
  29. Also gave us the truth.
  30. What is the truth from a human perspective, is that which matches
  31. actual reality not perceived reality.
  32. And Allah SWT
  33. in the Quran, always gives us the bottom line.
  34. Sometimes what Allah is telling us to do
  35. At the first glance it doesn't look like it's the truth.
  36. But when you look deep in it, and if you have long life experience,
  37. you will realize what Allah told you to do was the truth.
  38. When we invite people to the truth, Allah the Mighty and the Majestic ask of us
  39. to apply the tripod of how to speak about the truth.
  40. Number one,
  41. Call to the path and to the way of your Lord, with wisdom,
  42. choosing the right words, the right time,
  43. the right place with the right intention.
  44. That's what Allah asked of us, to use our Hikma, to be wise,
  45. to be aware of the time and the place
  46. of the cultural context, of the,
  47. you know, ethnic context of the time and place we are in
  48. to speak to the people in a way and in a language that they understand,
  49. and then Allah said: (and kind advice)
  50. and use effective words, heartfelt,
  51. effective words so that you can touch the hearts of the people,
  52. don't repel the people from the truth,
  53. by the way, you talk about it sometimes you are saying
  54. something right and correct.
  55. But you make people run away from it just because of the way you talk about it.
  56. And the third, Allah SWT says: (and only debate with them in the best manner)
  57. when you debate with people about a point, debate in the best manner
  58. because the second you go into an argument,
  59. the emotions go high, and we're human being, the way
  60. Allah created, us when our emotions go high, our intellect goes low.
  61. So now the person in front of you,
  62. they see nothing, hear nothing, understand nothing.
  63. Because you went against them and you turned their hatred
  64. and made them repel you and resent you.
  65. That's why Allah SWT tells us,
  66. Even if you want to debate
  67. and argue, debate and argue with the best way and best manner,
  68. and that's not a sign of weakness, but rather a sign of strength.
  69. Imam Shafie said: "Never
  70. a knowledgeable person debated me,
  71. but I beat him, and never an ignorant person debated me,
  72. but he beats me.
  73. My dear brothers and sisters, I want to put a note here
  74. that do you see the goodness in all the Muslims around the world?
  75. It all was born from the goodness of the Prophet PHBU
  76. We learn how to apply justice, fairness,
  77. moral excellence, mercy and preaching in the right way.
  78. It's all like a big bang,
  79. and now we are in the aftermath.
  80. If you trace back the goodness in any Muslim
  81. in this world, you will trace it back to the person of the Prophet PBHU
  82. His sunnah was not only what he said,
  83. what he did, what he approved,
  84. but actually his state of being, his "Haal" peace be upon him
  85. and his haal "state of being" was to be thankful and patient
  86. and to keep his eyes on the goal
  87. and not to let the instant reality distract him
  88. from continuing on
  89. pursuing the goal and the mission.
  90. And that's why I say, in this blessed
  91. month of Ramadan, may Allah's peace and blessings
  92. be upon his beloved Prophet PBHU
  93. who lived all of these teachings, and whose anyone in the Muslim world
  94. that is trying to apply
  95. some of these teachings, is only a small reflection of him.
  96. Even if we put all the Muslims at all the times together,
  97. we can still not match the Prophet PBUH
  98. We thank Allah for sending us such a beautiful human
  99. being to be a role model that is relevant,
  100. especially for today's reality.
  101. May Allah have His peace on him and Allah send His peace and blessings upon us.
  102. Ameen Ya Rabb Alameen
