  3. Foundation webinar uh for the sake of
  4. benefiting the general Community
  5. inshallah the topic today ISO better
  6. together and our guest
  7. is as a brief introduction
  8. is an Islamic scholar and Community
  9. leader of Palestinian descent after
  10. studying Islamic and international law
  11. and history in Jordan he moved to the US
  12. in 1996 he co-founded Iman in Chicago
  13. mine in Fresno and the support life
  14. foundation in Oakland in 2018 he
  15. established the taso Institute to
  16. empower Muslim youth he is dedicated to
  17. uniting Muslims through education and
  18. Community Service uh before I hand over
  19. the figurative mic to she I do want to
  20. encourage anyone and everyone watching
  21. listening tuning in however that may be

  23. foundation.org check out the different
  24. projects see uh which specific project
  25. may pull on the heartstrings uh for you
  26. to donate and support any amount will go
  27. very far in that region of the world
  28. again isan foundation.org without
  29. further Ado I'll go ahead and hand over
  30. the invisible mic to our guest for today
  31. um we I thank Allah subhana
  32. tala for everything that we enjoy and
  33. um as every and each and every one of us
  34. almost feel
  35. guilty uh enjoying these blessings while
  36. our brothers and sisters and laza are
  37. not
  38. um I want to remember them in the
  39. beginning and at the end of my speech
  40. and say Ya Allah have your mercy upon
  41. them feed the hungry quench The Thirst
  42. of the
  43. Thirsty clothe those who are
  44. naked give shoes to those who are
  45. barefooted heal those who are sick and
  46. wounded and accept as Martyrs those who
  47. have
  48. died and Grant them Victory Ya Allah at
  49. the end of the very hard long
  50. struggle um
  51. alhamdulillah um want to thank uh my
  52. young brother Imam Bilal for the
  53. introduction and I want to thank uhan
  54. foundation for hosting me may Allah
  55. subhana
  56. tala uh continue to bless the
  57. team uh from the founders to the
  58. managers to the workers and in all the
  59. countries in Africa and
  60. worldwide uh may Allah put Baraka in the
  61. Work ofan Foundation as they
  62. truly help the helpless and give voice
  63. to the
  64. voiceless and um are there for the
  65. people who need it the most you
  66. know uh and they're doing a making a
  67. difference both on the not only in
  68. basically handing out food
  69. uh to the people in West Africa and now
  70. even in East Africa but rather also give
  71. them
  72. Education Health
  73. Care uh
  74. training uh you know job training so in
  75. other words instead of giving the uh
  76. fish they are teaching people fishing
  77. and giving them the fish pole so that's
  78. the uh alhamdulillah and I have someone
  79. as who work withan seen their work on
  80. the ground and created a partnership
  81. between support life Foundation andan
  82. Foundation uh we mashallah they're the
  83. best people on the ground to implement
  84. the projects that we partnered with them
  85. on in West Africa may Allah put Baraka
  86. and accept from us uh all of our small
  87. humble little good
  88. Deeds um so
  89. I you know this is just a general talk
  90. and I was asked to talk about the
  91. concept
  92. of and the concept of is mentioned in
  93. the Quran so many times in many
  94. different
  95. suras uh but the people hear the
  96. word uh the most on uh in in the context
  97. ofah because it's short Surah and many
  98. Muslims uh recite it memorize it and and
  99. love
  100. it uh this
  101. Sur
  102. IM and we know that when im says
  103. something big like this he must have
  104. contemplated on it Allah he said if
  105. Allah has not revealed of the Quran
  106. except it would have been enough that's
  107. a big statement definitely coming from
  108. big one of the major of this
  109. um um so then maybe we can explore a
  110. little bit and the meaning of within and
  111. within the rest of the Quran and that
  112. will be something that will benefit us
  113. insh um Subhan
  114. Allah in in
  115. Allah starts by uh using time were last
  116. by
  117. time uh and the word as also in Arabic
  118. means an era a certain era so for every
  119. one of us uh we experience the world
  120. through our
  121. era uh so yes the world has been there
  122. for thousands of years before us and
  123. even millions of years before Humanity
  124. showed up on this planet
  125. and probably planet Earth Will Survive
  126. few million years after you know our
  127. Extinction on this
  128. Earth um
  129. so but what difference does it make to
  130. you and I how many thousands of years
  131. there was before how many thousands of
  132. years they will be after all what we
  133. deal with is our era our time so it's uh
  134. it's it's beautiful that Allah like
  135. subhana T did not say
  136. by time he he spoke he used the
  137. word by the era which era your era my
  138. era every time someone reads Al it's
  139. talking to him about his era meaning
  140. your
  141. lifetime and all the events that
  142. happened around you and around your
  143. lifetime truly uh the human is
  144. in great loss in the state of loss and
  145. that's uh something interesting like why
  146. would Allah say that and
  147. linguistically there has been three
  148. tools of
  149. confirmation uh to to make to confirm
  150. the meaning that this statement is very
  151. very very
  152. true uh Allah
  153. said this is normal this is a statement
  154. but Allah said First Tool of
  155. confirmation the Lamb by itself
  156. is which means a tool of confirming the
  157. meaning is also so Allah could have
  158. said that's also proper Arabic
  159. or complete so number one tool is there
  160. is
  161. a before is by
  162. time first
  163. to so three
  164. words two confirm uh the meaning and and
  165. this
  166. meaning this is before it it mean an
  167. oath by time this is true this is a fact
  168. this is real this is uh the state of
  169. being in this Ayah Allah like takes us
  170. out of our like he invites us to leave
  171. our time and look at our whole lifetime
  172. time especially on this earth like from
  173. an up from an upper
  174. look um Subhan Allah I was sitting down
  175. with a brother this brother was um rated
  176. in 2008 I think as one of the best eight
  177. investors in the
  178. world uh his predictions were almost all
  179. right and he continued to be one of the
  180. best investors but he was rated by
  181. Forbes Magazine
  182. as one of the best uh eight investors in
  183. the world basically uh in
  184. 2008 um and he sat down with me and
  185. showed me how he sees from an investment
  186. point of view from a stock market point
  187. of view through diagram how he sees this
  188. Surah like how he analyzed it and he
  189. drew for me this basically this diagram
  190. and I don't know if you can see it or
  191. not but there is this is basically the
  192. horizontal is time and the vertical is
  193. the resource so if you look at here here
  194. is time this is the ver the horizontal
  195. and then there is here when you look
  196. there is health wealth knowledge these
  197. four are the four resources that we get
  198. usually in life right so now we are born
  199. here in this point time starts okay so
  200. then how did he see see that we come to
  201. life very weak if our mother did not
  202. feed us the first day we will die so we
  203. come here with very little strength very
  204. weak could possibly die in one day or
  205. two days if we don't eat then we get
  206. stronger and stronger and stronger and
  207. stronger until we reach the peak of our
  208. life the peak of your strength for every
  209. person it's different then but in
  210. general we get older and then this start
  211. going down and down and down and down
  212. until this point here could becomes the
  213. point of our death right so this is the
  214. end of our Lives that's here the point
  215. of our death and that's it so we come to
  216. this life if we draw from Health we will
  217. go Health goes up then Health goes down
  218. until we
  219. die so that's the first diagram we draw
  220. this is what he drew for me and I felt
  221. it was I wanted to share sh that with
  222. you and I wanted to also say this was
  223. not my knowledge I learned it from
  224. someone else may Allah reward him then
  225. we come to WTH see when you come to this
  226. world you come with nothing zero right
  227. so also when we were born we came out
  228. with zero right
  229. and we went up and became
  230. wealthy and by the time we go back to
  231. zero so this is the second line here but
  232. now it's wealth we go from zero then you
  233. become very very wealthy then you even
  234. if you stay wealthy here by the moment
  235. of death you lose all of your wealth
  236. like let's say you became wealthy and
  237. you didn't become poor like let's say
  238. this even became the same line here here
  239. here the second you die you drop to
  240. zero so this diagram could be up and
  241. down or could be up stays up but then it
  242. has to drop down to zero because when
  243. you die you can't take it with you when
  244. you go you cannot take anything with you
  245. so then there is a third diagram which
  246. is we come to
  247. life Allah brought you out of your
  248. mother worms knowing nothing so the
  249. third line let's say if this is zero
  250. when you're born knowledge you know
  251. nothing Allah says you come to this life
  252. knowing nothing then you get older if
  253. you actually live long which many people
  254. wish to live long they don't know when
  255. you get older you become sick and tired
  256. and sick and to a point where you don't
  257. want to live anymore like you don't know
  258. that when you are young you know that
  259. when you get older you don't know that
  260. when you're young you only know that
  261. when you get older and older and older
  262. and very sick and very tired and can't
  263. get up out of bed and sometimes you
  264. can't go to the bathroom by yourself and
  265. people have to help you et this is a
  266. problem right so then you come in with
  267. so much you know with the third one is
  268. knowledge you no no no no no no then as
  269. you get older you start forgetting
  270. forgetting forgetting
  271. forgetting by the moment of death like
  272. your knowledge is zero it's gone except
  273. if you wrote something for the sake of
  274. Allah a knowledge that will benefit
  275. people then uh it will uh remain that
  276. knowledge but you your knowledge Your
  277. Capacity is
  278. gone so by time the human is in a great
  279. loss we still did not explore this
  280. Subhan Allah the only thing that we come
  281. up with full full is time meaning when
  282. we were born it was determined how long
  283. we're going to
  284. live so let's
  285. say we like let's say the highest level
  286. is 80 years old here is 80 right on the
  287. top let's say when you were born you
  288. didn't know but Allah said you're going
  289. to live 80 years old you you don't know
  290. I don't know when we're going to die but
  291. let's say that is that so as life goes
  292. right then you're going towards your
  293. death it's actually going down down down
  294. down until you meet your death so you
  295. are in a state of loss so even
  296. though this is 100% loss every day that
  297. passes of your life you're losing it
  298. right and this is wealth you become you
  299. come with nothing you leave with nothing
  300. so you will lose it health you come very
  301. weak you leave very weak and you will
  302. lose
  303. it uh knowledge you come knowing nothing
  304. you know you leave knowing nothing and
  305. so health wealth and knowledge and then
  306. finally time you're constantly in a
  307. state of loss
  308. this is very beautiful way of explaining
  309. this Surah by an intelligent man may
  310. Allah reward him and uh bless
  311. him brother Jamal for teaching me that
  312. so the idea here is I I took this to
  313. heart and I started always like I draw
  314. this sometimes when I'm traveling to
  315. remind myself of where am I in life
  316. right because at the end you're going to
  317. lose it all so
  318. now now for
  319. and for someone who a non-believer who
  320. actually don't care and an evil person
  321. let's say they say for an for someone
  322. who spent his life like just fooling
  323. around and partying around and hurting
  324. other people not not only you know just
  325. fooling around but actually you know
  326. when you hit this point the very scary
  327. thing is that that's not the lowest
  328. point of your life yet because your life
  329. will extend after death your life will
  330. extend after death there's the life in
  331. that grave the life in that day of
  332. judgment and then life after the day of
  333. judgment so there's three more stages
  334. coming so for a CF in the grave it gets
  335. worse on the day of judgment it gets
  336. worse and in Hellfire they just drop and
  337. it gets worse and it's constantly a
  338. prophet sallallahu alaih wasallam said
  339. people will be dropped
  340. uh uh people will be will
  341. drop in Hell Fire they will be in the
  342. state of falling for 70
  343. years and they still cannot find the
  344. bottom of Janam imagine falling if you
  345. fall for 7 Seconds you feel it's seven
  346. hours if you fall for seven minutes you
  347. feel it's seven months if you fall for
  348. seven weeks you feel like your whole
  349. life how can you even possibly the the
  350. longest fall we feel
  351. is 1 second 2 seconds like from your bed
  352. down I don't know if you jump if you are
  353. on a plane usually Landing is the last
  354. half an hour of the
  355. flight but we we can't even experience
  356. anything more than half an hour Landing
  357. from a plane now imagine seven years not
  358. half an hour not seven hours not seven
  359. days not s seven years and you can't
  360. find
  361. the you and I may Allah never
  362. and you know and and this is not only
  363. the cfir the prophet sallallahu alaihi
  364. wasallam in the Hadith said a person and
  365. could be a Muslim that person that says
  366. a word of like says something that
  367. displeases
  368. Allah some people curse Allah
  369. himself some people curse his messenger
  370. sallallahu alaihi wasallam some people
  371. curse the Quran some people curse
  372. Islam some people curse the purest
  373. people around the prophet sallallahu
  374. alai wasallam the
  375. and like why would you want to curse the
  376. best of the best people on the planet or
  377. the prophets and Messengers or Allah or
  378. Islam or Quran like they have so much
  379. anger in them they will curse and they
  380. intentionally curse something very holy
  381. to show you that I don't care and I'm a
  382. big deal and I can curse the holiest of
  383. the Holy the prophet sallallah alaihi
  384. wasallam said a person could say a word
  385. heard of Allah's displeasure that will
  386. throw him in Hellfire for 70 years and
  387. he will not find a bottom for it so the
  388. issue here is after death it doesn't get
  389. better because there's life in the grave
  390. there will be torture life on the day of
  391. judgment there will be torture then
  392. dropping in hell right so Allah so we
  393. ask a question okay how can can we break
  394. this because every human will go through
  395. this Muslim cfir good person bad person
  396. you're going to have to go through this
  397. cycle in life this is for everyone uh uh
  398. Subhan Allah so the idea here is for a
  399. Believer for a
  400. Believer um okay how can we break this
  401. the question so literally after Allah
  402. said and now we see through a diagram
  403. that this will happen to everyone then
  404. says
  405. accept so now we can break this sad
  406. depressing cycle it's not even a cycle
  407. linear like going down and down and is
  408. there a way to break this yes there's a
  409. way four
  410. steps four
  411. things let's take the first two except
  412. those that in this life in this
  413. lifeu
  414. Iman is something
  415. that you gain through knowledge through
  416. learning through seeking knowledge
  417. that's why because wasallam is our uh
  418. role model Allah told him in the Quran
  419. know that there is no God but one God
  420. doesn't know of course he knows he's the
  421. one who guided us to that is just like
  422. keep seeking knowledge keep growing in
  423. your
  424. Iman build your IM on
  425. knowledge because Islam and Iman is not
  426. something that you
  427. inherit what you inherit from your
  428. parents whether your parents are Muslims
  429. or not Muslims is f the state of Purity
  430. the state of pure innate nature the pure
  431. innate
  432. nature uh pure innate nature this F in
  433. Islam we say every child is born pure
  434. innocent sinless and with with some
  435. goodness in them right so whether you
  436. are a Muslim meaning born to Muslim
  437. parents or you're born to non-muslim
  438. parents you're born with them that so
  439. with that Allah is fair and just with
  440. everyone Allah give us all the same
  441. chance and
  442. opportunity um now after you hit puberty
  443. what do you do after that now it's now
  444. it's based on you now it's your choices
  445. you're no more a child you're not
  446. excused anymore and as you know as
  447. Muslims we don't have this concept
  448. teenager teenagers is excused from being
  449. intellectual from being responsible for
  450. being rational in Islam we don't have
  451. that teenager is just a young adult
  452. that's it we train them we teach them
  453. but we treat them as an adults and there
  454. is nothing more beloved to a 13 years
  455. old whether a boy or girl nothing more
  456. beloved to them than treating them like
  457. adults they love it they're sick and
  458. tired of being treated like a children
  459. for 13 years they're done with that
  460. stage in their life they don't want to
  461. be talked to as children they want to be
  462. talked to as
  463. adults and that's what Islam gives them
  464. we will talk to you as an adult we will
  465. treat you like as an adult so shape up
  466. and act like an adult so now with this
  467. Choice like the idea that we Muslims
  468. especially born Muslims have is that I'm
  469. a Muslim why because my parents were
  470. Muslim that's not how you gain
  471. Iman and that Iman that you just
  472. inherited from your parents you think
  473. because your parents because some of us
  474. their parents they're Muslims and
  475. masallah they're good Muslims they're
  476. good Muslims but some of us are parents
  477. are Muslims and they're not good
  478. Muslims so you didn't even have a chance
  479. to learn to have a good example as you
  480. so whether your parents are great
  481. mashallah or whether your parents had
  482. struggle in their life in Islam it
  483. doesn't matter Allah asks us to respect
  484. our parents even if they're not
  485. Muslims Allah said if they're not
  486. Muslims and they're telling you leave
  487. Islam do not obey them but befriend them
  488. become their friend so there's no excuse
  489. for
  490. mistreating your parents you cannot say
  491. my parents were bad I'm going to
  492. mistreat them no not in
  493. Islam but now we're not talking about
  494. your parents and your relationship with
  495. your parents your relationship with your
  496. parents should be beautiful and good
  497. even if they're not good and beautiful
  498. to you you don't answer evil with evil
  499. you answer evil with good but we're
  500. talking about you how can you have Iman
  501. Iman means belief not not only like not
  502. only a belief a belief that is active I
  503. believe in English a belief that is
  504. active is called Faith like this person
  505. got faith meaning they got like active
  506. Iman like their faith makes them hopeful
  507. their faith makes them positive their
  508. faith makes them grateful their faith
  509. makes
  510. them patient and have endurance
  511. perseverance their faith is not a
  512. stagnant belief it's it's an active
  513. Faith active Iman and that's very very
  514. very important to have uh and that's
  515. what Allah refers to Iman is like active
  516. Faith it's not only a belief I believe
  517. in Allah sure do you live by that I
  518. believe in the messenger of God great do
  519. you live by that do you live do you try
  520. to model your life after the model after
  521. the lives of the prophets and Messengers
  522. and their beautiful wife wives and
  523. daughters and companions whether their
  524. Companions and disciples were men or
  525. women do you are you trying so that's un
  526. called belief this belief that turns
  527. into Faith active faith can only be
  528. gained through knowledge it's not
  529. something you inherit from your
  530. parents even what you inherit from your
  531. parents is if your parents when you were
  532. young spoke to you about Allah spoke to
  533. you about Islam that means they taught
  534. you knowledge that means that's why you
  535. have IM because you learned it from your
  536. parents but just because your parents
  537. are Muslims doesn't make you like have a
  538. complete perfect nice Iman no that's
  539. something you have to work on yourself
  540. by gaining knowledge
  541. so means you have to be an active
  542. learner so that you can have active
  543. belief which we call in English Faith
  544. active faith in Arabic the word Iman
  545. includ includes both belief and
  546. Faith then number
  547. two and they did Good Deeds they they do
  548. good deeds and this um uh
  549. expression and they did the Good
  550. Deeds it's showing that they are they
  551. turn their faith into action
  552. and that action is continuous not one
  553. time not two times not every day and
  554. every moment if possible when you
  555. remember so it's very
  556. important and they did they
  557. acted means they acted and acted here
  558. means acted continue to act will act
  559. it's a past continuous tense basically
  560. did and they are now and they will in
  561. the
  562. future and very interesting this word
  563. it's plural
  564. of means good something good but it also
  565. have a hint of something it means you
  566. will use it also this is and this is
  567. meaning this is good and this is not
  568. good this is actively good for you this
  569. is actively not good for you like it's
  570. actively good for you to drink a lot of
  571. water during the day or some water like
  572. to drink to be hydrated it's actively
  573. not good for you to drink alcohol so
  574. this
  575. is is active good and
  576. means something fresh also if you say uh
  577. uh this is not fresh vegetables you can
  578. use the
  579. word right also it
  580. means means some that that that that
  581. fixes you did an action that fixed a
  582. problem so is in Arabic is to fix an
  583. issue so you can we can use it even on a
  584. fixing a car you brought me your car I'm
  585. a mechanic I did is on your engine I
  586. fixed your engine so the
  587. word is a very beautiful
  588. word Deeds that benefit others so it's
  589. not only a good deed it actually benefit
  590. others
  591. actively a deed that fixes something
  592. fixes a problem like problem of poverty
  593. problem of hunger problem of
  594. homelessness problem of God knows what
  595. like it fixes it is is it is to fix
  596. something and from that came the word
  597. the
  598. adjective and Allah did not
  599. say they did a good deed he said and
  600. they did Good Deeds
  601. is plural
  602. of so and that's one type of like to
  603. pluralize a word in Arabic there's
  604. different ways
  605. there's and and and and this word is
  606. like uh very uncommon by the way this
  607. way of
  608. making also like for example
  609. it's a plural
  610. of and it's a general
  611. term it's amazing that Allah used this
  612. expression this expression
  613. in is the last time Allah
  614. used and this expression if I'm not
  615. mistaken it's like number 63 in the
  616. Quran meaning
  617. this like Allah describes the Believers
  618. they have an active faith and they
  619. practice their faith they turn it into
  620. Good Deeds
  621. 63 times in the Quran if I'm not
  622. mistaken maybe 66 67 but I know that
  623. that the the lowest number is around 62
  624. 63 this
  625. expression they had active faith and
  626. they did the good deeds in the Quran the
  627. last time it's mentioned in the Quran is
  628. in this Surah the chapter of time the
  629. chapter of in
  630. alquran the beautiful thing about the
  631. word it's General Good Deeds
  632. praying five times a day General it's a
  633. good deed and it's an
  634. obligation helping the homeless stopping
  635. by buying him a hot meal giving him a
  636. that's not an obligation but that
  637. is you make it an obligation on yourself
  638. that's a a general Good Deed helping
  639. someone with a flat tire on the road
  640. just please if you're trying to do that
  641. on a highway uh I would recommend you to
  642. stop but not get down from your car I've
  643. lost so many dear people because they
  644. got down from their car and another car
  645. hit them so if you're in the highway and
  646. you see someone that needs help let them
  647. stay in their car you stay in your car
  648. you call the uh the roadside
  649. assistants uh that will save your life
  650. and their lives don't try to change a
  651. flat tire on a highway the cars don't
  652. see you and they come at a high speed
  653. and then both of you will be gone the
  654. helper and the helped and we don't want
  655. that um so the idea of helping someone
  656. with a flat tire that's generally Good
  657. Deed smiling in the face of someone you
  658. see someone down you say hello how are
  659. you Salam alaykum how are you how's it
  660. going can I help you are you
  661. okay uh you try to make cheer up someone
  662. someone is in financial problem they
  663. can't pay the rent that's a general Good
  664. Deed uh someone um fell under debt
  665. cannot pay their credit card you help
  666. them that that's a good deed I don't
  667. know what it is it's anything anything
  668. and Allah described the Believers that
  669. they
  670. do they believe they have active faith
  671. and they do good deeds
  672. now if you from the people who believe
  673. and did Good Deeds then then Allah is
  674. saying it in the form of a plural
  675. meaning where's your crew where's your
  676. like let's say gang the good gang
  677. obviously where's your crew where's your
  678. crowd where's the people that you're
  679. going to serve Allah with and do good
  680. deeds with so there's in this ayat
  681. there's an invitation to Collective
  682. group
  683. work Allah didn't say except the
  684. believer no he said except those who
  685. believed
  686. Believers and they did Good Deeds
  687. plural and they advised one another to
  688. stick to the truth and they advised one
  689. another to persevere to
  690. endure so they advise one another to
  691. stick to the truth
  692. why because once you do good you believe
  693. and you do good deed you're going to be
  694. from the
  695. minority and you might start slipping
  696. away you might start losing your faith
  697. you might start
  698. uh becoming weak so you need someone to
  699. say stay strong stick to the truth we're
  700. together in this we can do it we're a
  701. compute we're we're a group of Believers
  702. we do good deeds we help Humanity we
  703. help the planet we help animals we help
  704. we we nurture and preserve and and grow
  705. anything that is good on this Earth
  706. don't give up you know so to remind
  707. someone of the truth don't deviate from
  708. the the path don't get so depressed and
  709. now next thing we know you're doing
  710. Haram and drinking and on drugs and this
  711. because of pressure no no no pressure
  712. leads to growth pressure is good for the
  713. believer pressure creates the Four
  714. Seasons pressure
  715. creates uh experience it creates growth
  716. it's it it filters the good from the bad
  717. even inside you pressure makes the bad
  718. go away if you want it that way
  719. obviously so so the idea here is stick
  720. to the
  721. truth the word taas in Arabic is also
  722. very beautiful word it's a
  723. word um uh a
  724. word uh
  725. is the word is say a word that is used
  726. in the
  727. Quran as
  728. um as a word that refers
  729. to giving a sincere
  730. wholeheartedly advise to someone that
  731. you love and you cherish like when the
  732. father or the mother are on their death
  733. bed and they give the final advice to
  734. their children
  735. that's it's an advice that is comes with
  736. from the most sincere compassionate part
  737. of your soul and heart and mind so Allah
  738. says the Believers advise one another
  739. in Arabic is a word that uh can be two
  740. ways it mean two meanings Al meaning
  741. Truth Versus
  742. Falsehood and Al meaning rights human
  743. rights like rights your rights the
  744. people's rights planets like plants
  745. rights animals rights right so Al in
  746. Arabic has it means Truth Versus
  747. Falsehood that's one definition of the
  748. word Al also Al in Arabic and in the
  749. Quran refers
  750. to meanings right versus oppression so
  751. Truth Versus Falsehood right versus
  752. oppression or aggression or taking
  753. rights away right so I can say our y
  754. brothers and sisters they say when they
  755. say this is mine they
  756. say this is my right and what they mean
  757. I own this this car is
  758. right this is this is my right meaning I
  759. own it this is very beautiful way how
  760. yanes speak you know uh and they use
  761. this word so H
  762. is Truth Versus Falsehood and H is Right
  763. versus oppression any right
  764. so they advise one
  765. another stick to the truth Truth Versus
  766. Falsehood don't deviate they advise one
  767. another don't take the rights of the
  768. others don't oppress them don't be
  769. aggressor don't do this don't do
  770. that and they um and they advise one
  771. another to have perseverance and
  772. endurance I feel that people keep on
  773. translating the word sa in the Quran to
  774. the to patience or I am patient and when
  775. you ask them what do you mean like you
  776. your patient they say I'm going to wait
  777. until the problem goes
  778. away that's not the sa that is referred
  779. to the Quran the sa that is referred to
  780. in the Quran is beyond that because
  781. anyone can do that I'm just going to
  782. wait till the problem goes away let me
  783. let me just wait let me see if the
  784. problem is going to go away no when
  785. pressure hits you when the test that
  786. trial tribulation hit you you stick to
  787. the principles of your Dean you you you
  788. you keep on practicing your faith you
  789. keep on doing your five daily prayers
  790. you give your charity you smile you
  791. don't oppress others just because others
  792. oppressed you you don't give up on the
  793. principles of your faith
  794. right they say there's three types of sa
  795. one perseverance in doing
  796. what is good and what you are obliged to
  797. do prayers fasting charity H pilgrimage
  798. you know
  799. this to endure and and keep on
  800. practicing what your obligations and the
  801. Good Deeds the good things not because
  802. oh you went through hardship you come
  803. and say oh I've been praying my whole
  804. life and I've been praying Dua to Allah
  805. but didn't happen nothing happened etc
  806. etc etc so I'm going to just give stop
  807. praying now you don't have sa you
  808. stopped your
  809. endurance your perseverance your
  810. consistency your
  811. persistency that's what subber means so
  812. persistency in doing good persistency in
  813. not doing evil stay away from that which
  814. is forbidden stay away from oppressing
  815. others stay away from being an aggressor
  816. stay away from lying cheating backbiting
  817. slandering all of that number
  818. three uh uh uh
  819. this and number three is perseverance so
  820. perseverance saber to do good saber to
  821. stay away from Evil and Haram and bad
  822. and the last subber is to have saber
  823. when hardship hits you I don't know you
  824. become sick I don't know you lose your
  825. money I don't know you lose a loved one
  826. you don't lose your IM because you got
  827. pressured you actually stay with Allah
  828. and they say the highest is that's like
  829. the fourth level of sa first level to do
  830. good
  831. consistently second sa is to stay away
  832. from Haram
  833. consistently third sa is to um uh
  834. uh
  835. stay with strong Iman when hardship
  836. hits and keep on doing what you're
  837. supposed to do keep on your Dua and and
  838. Quran and and
  839. and number
  840. four that you are always with Allah
  841. you're consistent persistent you will
  842. persevere you will
  843. endure with Allah and for the sake of
  844. Allah anything
  845. so this is something very very important
  846. to understand and uh uh you know just
  847. just to uh conclude that yeah you know
  848. Subhan Allah if we think that this is
  849. dun right like this is uh let me write
  850. here this is
  851. alun and uh this
  852. is and let's say this is like basically
  853. hell God forbid inshallah and this is
  854. like a
  855. j heaven right basically
  856. heaven or
  857. Paradise uh this is basically here
  858. after so basically if this side of Our
  859. Lives let me draw a line here if this
  860. side of our life is our this life that
  861. we come with nothing and then we leave
  862. with nothing and this side is life you
  863. know like Hereafter or life after right
  864. um and then this is let's say Jenna here
  865. and the bottom here like let's say God
  866. forbid this is hell right so right so
  867. then then what happens when you are
  868. here this is the you see there's a
  869. beginning and there's an end here
  870. there's a this is the end this is the
  871. beginning so here is what we call finite
  872. this is finite this is limited here is
  873. what we call called infinite
  874. forever they shall live in there forever
  875. for eternity twice Allah put
  876. confirmation twice forever for eternity
  877. right so this is what happens when you
  878. do a good deed what happens when you do
  879. one two three
  880. four you break this cycle of loss
  881. because here this is the point of death
  882. if you die as a loser you never believe
  883. it gets worse it's not going to get
  884. better people kill themselves they go
  885. through suicide thinking if when they
  886. die it's going to get better it's not
  887. going to get better that's the scary
  888. stuff that's that's why you don't want
  889. to ever ever ever get to kill
  890. yourself from here the believer bounces
  891. up and is going to get better and better
  892. and better all the way going to
  893. Jenna and it's going to be Infinity
  894. basically like no stopping it just keeps
  895. on getting better and better and better
  896. and better instead of here getting worse
  897. and worse and worse and worse it keeps
  898. on getting better and better and better
  899. and better and better and what happens
  900. when you do this one two three 4 let me
  901. write here one two three four this one
  902. this one two 3
  903. four what happened you basically let's
  904. say there's a moment here I don't know
  905. this moment
  906. this moment is finite it's one minute
  907. but in that one minute you smiled in the
  908. face of person you had a good
  909. conversation you had a sandwich in your
  910. head and you passed it to a hungry
  911. person you spoke the truth to a tyrant
  912. you invited someone to the truth to
  913. Islam and you shared with them your your
  914. faith and you know you left them to they
  915. can make their decision on their own but
  916. you tried right so this is every moment
  917. here is finite you did a good deed in
  918. this one moment so this dot is one
  919. moment it's just a DOT what happen when
  920. you do this dot you go from here you
  921. turn that which is finite to that which
  922. is
  923. infinite so the moments here and
  924. Hereafter they're infinite moments like
  925. time doesn't stop like there's no time
  926. basically it's over no Sunrise no Sunset
  927. no so what happens you go from from here
  928. to here and that is the phenomenal thing
  929. about being a Muslim you're constantly
  930. transferring moments from being finite
  931. to being infinite finite to infinite
  932. finite to infinite that's every time you
  933. do the one two 3 4 you're sitting down
  934. right now
  935. learning right from this program
  936. whatever you know webinar arranged byan
  937. Foundation may Allah reward them for
  938. arranging this webinar you know you're
  939. doing this and you're like basically
  940. you're going from here to here this is
  941. insane right so so you're sitting down
  942. learning right now this is called you're
  943. in number one every moment you spent
  944. right now you transferred number one
  945. from finite to
  946. infinite you go then you go and apply
  947. let's say you decide to donate toan
  948. Foundation right um because of their
  949. projects with everyone I as I told you
  950. job training education for Children
  951. Health Care uh F feeding etc etc amazing
  952. right or you decide to let's say donate
  953. to taasa taasa we teach youth we teach
  954. all ages young old men
  955. women even though at this moment in the
  956. world I encourage you to to donate to
  957. the poor people especially people in
  958. Gaza and people in Lebanon and Syria and
  959. all of these Subhan
  960. but the idea here
  961. is number two find a partner in faith
  962. partner in faith that's that's a whole
  963. model that we have at is we always find
  964. a partner of faith and then you grow up
  965. with them in your IM so you remind each
  966. other stick to the truth and don't
  967. oppress others don't take the rights of
  968. others and stick to the truth don't
  969. don't deviate from the truth and number
  970. four you you you you you say let's when
  971. you are alone you you fall easily when
  972. you are with other people that have the
  973. same agenda you you basically get better
  974. and
  975. better
  976. endurance this cannot be done when you
  977. are alone this has to be in a teamwork
  978. setting and that's why Allah expect us
  979. to be an um like a Community of Faith an
  980. community that actively
  981. is active in their Iman in their faith
  982. active in their action active in
  983. sticking to the truth active in stopping
  984. oppression from happening active in uh
  985. perseverance and endurance during the
  986. easy times and the hard times right
  987. sometimes when life becomes easy it's uh
  988. it's uh it's also a test people forget
  989. Allah because everything is going
  990. perfect they think we don't need Allah
  991. they don't say that loud but that's what
  992. they think right and that's what Shan
  993. makes them go astray so uh that was my
  994. presentation for
  995. today and brothers inan foundation and
  996. uh I'll leave it to give it back to you
  997. to Le the second
  998. part yes I'm
  999. sorry for the well structured
  1000. presentation the it's it's very rich
1001. there's a lot of very good food for
1002. thought very uh practical points of
1003. benefit for myself and anyone and
1004. everybody else uh that's you know tuning
1005. in to benefit from this inshallah just
1006. for the sake of time I know you have a
1007. lot going on and for any time that you
1008. set aside for this my L except the time
  1009. effort the
1010. preparation BL you and and your family
1011. always me if I can uh conclude with with
1012. one uh one one question if somebody
1013. found themselves struggling with the
1014. second and if they maybe from this
1015. webinar maybe from you know something
1016. that happened in their lives if they
1017. feel that they want to shift gears and
1018. they want to get out of uh maybe going
1019. in the wrong direction out of a bad
1020. situation and they have this spark of
1021. inspiration I want to change and go in
1022. the right direction I want to join those
1023. doing these four things what practic
1024. iCal advice would you have for them if
1025. they want to now shift gears and and
1026. transition to going in the right
1027. direction I mean alhamdulillah so one of
1028. the Allah tells us that we have an enemy
1029. unseen uh enemy which is Shan and we
1030. have a beautiful unseen supporter which
  1031. is Angels
1032. Mala and people complain about Shan but
1033. from what we can see from the prophetic
1034. sayings that any given Muslim has 10
1035. Angels joining him from to that's the
1036. day shift and then they give it to the
1037. next shift of evening from to so you at
1038. any given time you have 20 angels 10 in
1039. the morning 10 in the evening and they
1040. switch and they report to Allah the
1041. people angel in the morning report to
1042. Allah then the one in the evening report
1043. to Allah uh so you have 20 angels and
1044. you have one devil that's trying to
  1045. mislead you so you're you're in a good
1046. shape you got a whole army with you so
1047. don't worry about that but what one of
1048. the tricks of Shan is science right and
1049. and our life experience even if there's
1050. no science say it's like time moves in
1051. one Arrow like it always going forward
1052. right so what Allah invites Us in the
1053. Quran you did something good you did
1054. something evil right do you want to
1055. change it yes then go through the
1056. process of Toba what's Toba repentance
1057. what are the process of Toba four steps
1058. stop what you're doing wrong right
1059. now if you're smoking stop smoking
  1060. you're drinking stop drinking if you're
  1061. I don't know messing around committing
1062. adultery and fornication stop today
1063. right now stop today make the intention
1064. I'm not going to do it
1065. again stop it number one make the
1066. intention that you will not do it again
1067. number two show remorse to God number
1068. three follow a bad deed with a good deed
  1069. number
  1070. four and Allah
1071. says I will forgive you not only I will
1072. forgive you I will erase the bad Deed
1073. from your record obviously unless there
1074. is a human right involved meaning you
  1075. took someone's money you can't just
1076. repent to God you have to give them back
  1077. their
1078. money you have to give them back their
  1079. money
  1080. um
  1081. so except if you're a Believer you're
1082. not in the state of loss you're in the
1083. state of gain so what happens Shan one
1084. of his tricks is to make you live in the
1085. past so he pushes you in a time errow
  1086. that goes
1087. back this going back in time and living
1088. in the past and constantly victimizing
1089. yourself because I don't Know What You
1090. Did in your past or I don't know what
1091. your mom did to you what your dad did to
1092. you what your God knows boss or friend
1093. or someone did something violated you
  1094. right they could
1095. have you know I use this with people
1096. that went through rape right I said
1097. that's that was not your fault right
1098. someone attack don't live in the past
1099. because when you live in the past you
  1100. become
1101. delusional because you cannot go back
1102. into to the past the past is gone time
1103. always moves in one Arrow the direction
1104. of time is always moving forward you
1105. cannot go right left up down backward
1106. you can only go forward in space you can
1107. go in all eight directions like front
1108. back right left up down sideways you can
1109. move in all directions this is living in
1110. the past living in the past is from the
1111. devil The Devil Makes You delusional
1112. there is you cannot live in the past so
1113. what does Allah propose literally move
1114. forward move forward with time how one
1115. intend not to do the action again two
1116. stop doing the action three um show
1117. remorse and make prayers to God right
1118. that he will accept your
1119. repentance uh for if you heard someone
1120. took someone's right give it back to
  1121. them
1122. five follow a bad deed with a good deed
1123. the good deed might be that you returned
  1124. the money that you
1125. stole that's the good deed so you
1126. restored someone else the good deed
1127. might be you spoke evil about someone in
1128. front of someone you're back bited and
1129. slander you go back in front of that
1130. person you say I was wrong that person
1131. is good and I was wrong to backbite them
1132. now you made the other person whole and
  1133. complete
1134. again this issue don't become delusional
  1135. this idea and I feel it's a it's it's a
1136. like a double sword of the Shan on one
1137. side he makes you live in the past on
  1138. the other
1139. side he makes you live in the state of
  1140. helplessness and
  1141. hopelessness
1142. and paralyzation like you become
1143. paralyzed and you do everything except
1144. the thing that you should do which is
1145. repent with the four to five steps of
1146. repentance you do everything you get
1147. depressed you you get sad you get angry
1148. you going God knows and then he he with
1149. this sadness and depression he tells you
1150. oh you've been regretting so much you've
1151. been sad so much you've been in pain and
1152. depression so it's time to go and have a
1153. drink you go now and disobey Allah all
1154. over again in the name of I want to
1155. forget what I did wrong okay you don't
1156. forget about it nor you live the past
1157. you just remember okay so now I go 1 two
1158. 3 four five move forward Allah said not
1159. only I will forgive the sins in the past
1160. that's number one I will forgive it
1161. forgiveness in Arabic is to
  1162. cover cover number
1163. two Allah erases it because
1164. he's is different than so there's three
1165. mechanisms of forgiveness that Allah
1166. uses that no one else can use number one
1167. he covered this sin you when you look at
1168. your book of deed if you were able to
1169. look but if you look you you know it's
1170. there but it says it's
1171. forgiven then Allah does number two
  1172. forgiveness level two
1173. forgiveness Allah erases it erases it
1174. like you take an eraser you erase it so
1175. now you look there's no oh he did the
1176. sin then God forgive him no no no
  1177. there's no
1178. sin number three Allah will go back to
1179. that bad deed and will write on it that
1180. you actually did a good deed so when you
1181. wake up on the day of judgment you're
1182. looking expecting to see the bad deed
1183. that you did instead of it you see that
  1184. you did a good
1185. deed no one can do that but Allah subh
1186. tala this is insane this is unbelievable
1187. this is beautiful because there is only
  1188. one
1189. God and that one God can do what no one
1190. else can why because there is no other
1191. God that can do what Allah can do it's
1192. only one it is only one that can do this
1193. and that's Allah people instead of going
  1194. for
1195. Allah that can do things that no one
1196. else can do they go for Shan and they
1197. become delusional and they live in the
1198. past and they live in guilt and they
1199. live in regret and they live in
1200. depression and they live in sadness and
1201. then they go and do more Haram to make
1202. to forget the depression and sadness and
1203. it becomes a cycle you do wrong you get
1204. depressed you go do more wrong to forget
1205. the wrong that you did which means you
1206. now you have another wrong you get
1207. depressed you give up you go and do more
1208. wrong and then Shan C catches you in
1209. that that's what Allah warned us from in
1210. the Quran we should never ever do that
  1211. but
1212. again so essentially at the at the core
  1213. of that that uh
1214. taking that step in in in the right
1215. direction Toba is really the The X
1216. Factor it's the GameChanger if someone
1217. connects with Toba and they uh look at
1218. okay what do I need to correct what's
1219. between me and Allah between myself and
1220. Allah's creation and like you said
1221. earlier in connection with it's not the
1222. way that patience uh is seen even though
1223. sa as you mentioned is is much broader
1224. than just this idea of patience it's
  1225. it's not something passive it's
1226. something active so man is active is
1227. active our Dean commands us to action so
1228. Toba likewise is something active it's
1229. not uh sufficient to just think about
1230. asking Allah for forgiveness but to
1231. actively ask Allah for forgiveness and
1232. then to explore creative ways how can I
1233. replace this bad deed with this good
1234. deed and then Allah will open doors to
1235. facilitate things further inshallah for
1236. the the wonderful presentation may Allah
1237. the time the effort May Lord bless you
1238. anything as we wrap up anything that you
1239. want to share in connection yes uh
1240. actually when you were I see that you
1241. type that you type highlights when I'm
1242. talking and in one of your highlights
1243. you wrote uh pressure can be good or bad
1244. I actually believe that pressure is
1245. always good for the believer uh it's
1246. never bad it's always will make you a
1247. better person out of you and um that
  1248. what I say that's what I believe because
1249. if pressure happens if it happened you
1250. didn't trigger pressure on yourself like
1251. if you brought pressure on yourself then
1252. stop it and stop pressuring yourself but
1253. if pressure is imposed on
1254. you you're driving perfectly fine on the
1255. highway perfectly speed limit 65 mil
1256. hour seat belt everything is perfect in
1257. your lane and someone comes and slams in
1258. you next thing you know you're paralyzed
  1259. from the neck
1260. down you can live in depression for the
1261. rest of your life or you can think that
1262. that is since it happened and since
1263. Allah allowed it to happen it can only
1264. be good and you will you have to set up
1265. your mind that this is something good
1266. this is a pressure this is will last my
1267. lifetime usually when you're paralyzed
1268. from the neck down you can never have
1269. your sense back but since it happened
1270. and it was out of my control it was not
  1271. a result like I
1272. smoked to death and then I ended up with
  1273. a lung cancer that's a different issue
1274. that needs a repentance stop and turn
1275. around uh I'm talking about outside of
1276. your control pressure it means the fact
1277. that it happened it means Allah allowed
1278. it to happen the fact that Allah allowed
1279. it to happen and you are a Muslim that
1280. says there's no God but one God and you
  1281. put your trust in
1282. that means Allah allowed it to happen
1283. only for a good reason only for a good
1284. reason so move on with the good reason
  1285. don't go negative don't think it's bad
1286. don't let it destroy you no pressure
1287. should be destructive to AV if you did
1288. something wrong you know what to do
  1289. repentance 1 2 3 four five we already
1290. spoke about that if it you didn't do
1291. anything wrong and someone wrong to like
1292. now the the people in GZA back again at
  1293. the end of this
1294. presentation like these children these
1295. men wom you know 2 million people
1296. they're having bombs what wrong did they
1297. do they're literally telling them move
1298. from north to south while they're moving
1299. they're hitting them if they don't move
1300. they hit them in the South they're
1301. hitting them they're heading everywhere
1302. so is that their fault no that's blaming
  1303. the
1304. victim that and telling them oh you're a
1305. victim because you like you brought it
1306. on yourself there's nothing like that in
  1307. Islam
1308. but at the end of the day we know that
1309. Allah will reward them so much and this
1310. everything that happened to them will be
1311. good what I'm worried about is US did we
1312. do enough to help them that's where we
1313. should worry but if something happens
1314. outside of your control and is
1315. pressuring you to the max relax it's
1316. from Allah deal with it with your IM
1317. with your active Faith look at it
1318. positively because IM will make you see
1319. everything positive and use it as a
1320. chance to grow and mature and become
1321. stronger as it's known they say the hit
1322. that doesn't kill you or break you it
1323. makes you stronger right so that's my uh
1324. conclusion may Allah accept the again
1325. the the time and the effort
1326. for Reflections and especially in
  1327. connection
1328. with and having company and being around
  1329. the right
1330. people than for hosting me I'm sorry
1331. thank you for hosting me
1332. YouTube I I was gonna ask if if people
1333. wanted to find more of your work with
1334. with taasa where can they find you where
1335. can they offer may Allah bless you so if
  1336. you put taso.org t a w s aw.org
1337. and you there's two buttons one it says
1338. contribute you can contribute by
1339. donating or you can contribute by
1340. volunteering and taasa is a set of
1341. programs established on mentoring like
1342. bringing back the prophetic model in
  1343. teaching mentoring mentoring mentoring
  1344. it's a prophetic model uh that we're
1345. trying to revive we're not inventing
1346. anything new so basically it's
1347. mentorship the old mentors the younger
1348. within a training and guidelines and
1349. like a an well organized structure the
1350. purpose is to literally just apply
1351. that's a whole point of as an
1352. organization is to empower and enable
1353. Muslims to practice in their daily life
1354. collectively as a group so we invite
1355. anyone to come suggest donate help um
1356. give us their expertise in whatever
1357. field they have we we would love to have
1358. that the time is very appreciated I know
1359. you have a lot of different thank you
1360. coming on you're connected to a lot of
1361. different good may Allah accept
1362. all Allah have his utmost Mercy on the
1363. people of and give them Victory and give
1364. them security and give them an end to
  1365. this pain and suffering
  1366. am
