Talk · Your Relationship With Allah | 2025 Ramadan Series, part 12 of 31
The Purest Love | Your Relationship With Allah Ep.11 | Sh. Alauddin ElBakri | Ramadan Series
Shaykh Alauddin ElBakri
- Assalaamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
- and welcome back to Ramadan series with Tawasaw Institute for 1446
- Last episode we talked about how Allah SWT
- Has created us for a purpose, to know Him, to love Him,
- to worship Him and to obey Him and we said we were gonna talk about the love of
- Allah SWT, one of the most
- beautiful, passionate topics that anyone can talk about. The topic of the love
- of Allah SWT in The Noble Quran
- is established on two things, two pillars, one of them is way much more important than the other
- The first question is, do you love Allah? And the second question, does Allah love you back?
- This is a choice that we all have, the love of Allah SWT
- is not just a mere emotion
- it's not just a once-in-a-lifetime feeling, it is something that you wake up with
- and you go to sleep with
- It is a choice, it is a realization
- After you've looked around in the world and you did your evaluation
- Who created me? Who cherishes me? Who sustains me? Who guides me? Who protects me?
- Who shows me the way? Who's there for me all the time?
- Who is there for me before I even ask? Who knew me before I knew myself? All of this
- should trigger something in you, who always answers my prayers?
- Who is there for me in this world, in my grave, on the Day of Judgment?
- Who created me for a great honor, above and beyond my imagination?
- If this does not trigger the love of Allah SWT in you, then what does?
- I tell people that if someone brings you a rose, one rose
- you know, to work or something, you feel "Oh my God, so much touched!"
- especially if there's a relationship, you feel like this person loves you
- If they bring a dozen of roses
- then they really, really love you. Now, I want to share with you that
- on planet Earth, there is over
- 386,000 species of flowers, and we're still not falling in love with Allah
- On planet Earth, there is over 17,500 species of butterflies
- and we're still not falling in love with Allah. The variety of fruits and vegetables
- the variety of leaf shapes, the 6,000 stars that we can see with our own eyes at night
- that makes the sky at night so beautiful. But now through the James Telescope, you know
- the James Webb Telescope, we can see over 2 trillion Galaxies
- If that's not going to make you fall in love, then what does?
- When you see how Allah SWT has surrounded you with every blessing that you have
- right now in your life, including your existence, that you are alive,
- that you can think that you are aware, that you know what's going on,
- that you know yourself, you know life around you, and you know Allah SWT
- If that does not make you fall in love, then what does?
- Love in The Noble Quran, it's not just the mere emotions, as I said
- it has to be taken from a deeply founded feeling and emotion that comes out of a realization
- So it's built on knowledge that then translates into words
- that's when we read the Quran, make prayer, make remembrance, remember Allah, all of that
- and from that, it turns into action, and from an action, it turns into reaction
- like you act good, act good, act good, then in life, things will hit you hard
- you react based on that love, knowing that Allah SWT is there for you at all times
- This is something that we have to translate
- My dear brothers and sisters, Allah describes the believers in the Quran that
- (who love Him and are loved by Him)
- Allah loves them, and they love Allah back
- Allah tells us in the Quran that
- (Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him)
- They are pleased with Allah, and Allah is pleased with them
- It's a two-way relationship, not one-way
- Allah SWT has asked us to do things
- you know, if we are to look in the month of Ramadan to this whole fasting thing in a different way
- you know, when you fall deeply in love, you kind of lose your appetite and you kind of lose sleep too
- So you don't eat in the day, nor you sleep at night
- Why? Because you are engulfed in this deep feeling of emotions
- That's what love does to the human
- Isn't it strange that in Ramadan, we don't eat in the day and we barely sleep at night?
- Where does that come from?
- Maybe you already love Allah SWT and you don't know it
- Maybe you really have to look at what you do in a different way and light
- When you read His word, in my generation, we used to send letters
- you guys now send texts and even texts are no more words
- they become the "You" became letter "U" and the I don't know became Idk
- and, you know, we used to write long letters
- and when someone writes you a letter that you love and this letter is full of love
- you read it and you spend the whole night reading it
- Isn't it interesting that the whole night of Ramadan, we spend it reading the Quran?
- Trying to decipher the meanings in this word and trying to find the love of Allah
- SWT in these words
- and we can't even go to sleep
- Ramadan is a season of total love and devotion
- a love that is turned into devotion and into action
- that love extends from us loving Allah SWT to us doing good deeds
- in the name of Allah
- We feed the poor
- we help those who are in need
- we are there for the one that there is no one there for them
- Why? Because we are reflecting God's love into the world and into humanity
- and into the universe
- My dear brothers and sisters, the word love in the Quran is "Hobb"
- and interestingly, Hobb, if you change the diacritics
- the other way of reading Hobb is Habb
- Hobb and Habb are the same word, just different diacritics
- What is the meaning of the word Habb? Seeds
- Love in the Quran is like a seed that grows and grows and grows
- Allah gave the example of "There is no God but Allah" as a tree
- that keeps on growing and giving fruits
- "La Ilaha illa Allah" means there is no God but one God
- This idea of love and devotion
- and I only love You, Allah, the One and alone
- I don't love anyone else like I love You ever
- You're the only God, so I love You in a special way
- there is a special place in my heart that I do not share with anyone else other
- than You, Allah
- There is another place for Prophet Muhammad PBUH
- there's another place for my parents
- there's another place for good, righteous people
- but the biggest and exclusive place in our hearts is for Allah
- we don't share it with anyone else
- If we do, we actually end up falling in "Shirk" associating partners with Allah
- So love is essential
- love is foundational
- love goes with "There is no God but Allah" with being a Muslim and a believer
- and that's why we turn that love into a way of life, as our Prophet PBUH
- showed us
- Allah told us in the Quran
- (Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “If you ˹sincerely˺ love Allah, then follow me)
- and "Me" here means Prophet Muhammad PBUH
- Allah will love you and Allah will forgive your sins
- My dear brothers and sisters, may Allah the Mighty and the Majestic inspire that light
- you know, Imam Al-Ghazali was trying to explain what is "Hidayah" guidance
- What happens when someone wakes up one day and feel that they just want God
- and faith and they want to do beautiful things and philanthropy work in their life?
- What is that?
- He said,
- It's a light that Allah throws in the heart of the person
- Let's pray to Allah SWT to throw that light of love in our hearts because it will give us
- endless energy and we will start worshipping Allah
- not because we have to, but because we want to
- We will move from being pushed towards our faith and towards Allah to being pulled
- by the attraction and the gravity of the beauty of Allah SWT
- May Allah inspire that to our hearts
- Ameen Ya Rabb Alameen
- Wassalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
