The Only Hope | Your Relationship With Allah Ep.16 | Sh. Alauddin ElBakri | Ramadan Series
Shaykh Alauddin ElBakri
- Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
- And welcome back to Tawasaw's institute Ramadan series for 1446. Before we move
- forward with our series, I'd like to lay the foundation for our relationship with
- Allah SWT, this foundation has three major points that have to be
- clear in the heart and mind of every believer before they build anything on
- the top of it. The first thing of these three things is at Tawheed, that you
- believe that Allah SWT is the One and only but there is much
- explanation to that point that we will explain today. Then we will talk about
- At-Taslim, the submission and surrender to Allah SWT. Then after
- that we will talk about Husnu Dhann in Allah, to think positively in Allah SWT
- at all times. Without these three things it's impossible to
- move forward and you will always be crippling and falling and unable to
- bring about a change in your life based on your belief. My dear brothers and
- sisters, when we see the word At-Tawheed usually it's translated to The Oneness
- of God, I don't like that translation because that makes the whole thing
- established on an adjective, based on a noun. If you believe that God is One
- you're done, you're a Muslim, you can move forward right now. No, Tawheed can also
- be used as a verb which means to unite. To unite all of your hopes in life
- in one hope. All of your fears in one fear. That that hope and fear lies first and
- foremost in Allah SWT. This is so essential, so fundamental that
- without the clarity in the impact of Tawheed on our hearts and minds and on
- our lives. Allah gives an example in The Noble Quran in which He says
- (Allah sets forth the parable)
- If we start using the word Tawheed as to
- unite we will always be called to action not just to stagnant belief and that's
- why Allah SWT tells us that the impact of believing in Allah as
- One and making that faith and belief active the impact of that on you is that
- you become one. What is the blessings and what's the biggest major impact of
- believing in Allah as one on our lives? Is that it saves us from being scattered
- I'm afraid of this and this and this and that and I have my hopes here and here
- and here and there and I rely on this one and that one and this one and that
- one and I'm hoping this one will benefit me and this one will benefit me and I'm
- gonna have to chase this one and I'm have to spoil this one because I want
- something from them and I'm afraid of this and this and that. That's when
- you become scattered but when you believe in Allah SWT that
- your God, your beneficiary is One and that's why Allah described in the Quran
- (Allah is the Guardian of the believers, He brings them out of darkness and into light)
- Allah is the guardian, the caretaker, the protector of the believers, He takes them
- out from darknesses to light. Notice how darknesses is plural and light is
- singular. The darkness of stress, the darkness of depression, the darkness of
- anxiety and fear, the darkness of panic attacks and going frantic and losing
- your mind and heart and soul and peace. So many darknesses in life
- The darkness of the way of the devil, the darkness of bad company, the darkness of
- losing hope in life and becoming helpless. So many things out there that
- can destroy us, Allah takes us from darknesses to light, why? Because we
- believe in Him as our "Walei" custodian and this "Walei" His name is Al-Wahid and Al-Ahad "The One and Sole God"
- They're both very unique names. The One, Al-Wahid, like the One because there's
- only one God so He is the One God. The second one is Al-Ahad, the Only One, the
- unique One, the different One, the One that no one else is like Him. As Allah said in the Quran
- (There is nothing like Him, for He ˹alone˺ is the All-Hearing, All-Seeing)
- and Allah in a short surah that every Muslim recites in their prayers
- (Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “He is Allah, One ˹and Indivisible˺; Allah, the Sustainer ˹needed by all˺)
- Say Allah is unique and different, Allah is special, Allah is the One and Only and
- He is self-sustaining that everyone needs Him and comes to Him for help and He
- doesn't need anyone else. This has a huge impact on our lives. When there is a
- place in your heart that you will only give to God Almighty only to Allah, why?
- Because He's the One and the Only. So just like He's the One and the Only
- there will be a place in your heart and in your mind and in the depth of your
- soul for the One and Only which means no one will share that space in that place
- with Allah SWT. That place is in your mind and heart and if
- anyone else starts sharing that space in your mind and heart then you are falling
- in Shirk, associating partners with Allah. Most people when they approach this
- topic of Tawheed, they're thinking Shirk happens somewhere else in the world like
- people are calling about you know they're worshipping trees or stones or the stars
- or the moon or the sun, whatever people worship or people even worship people
- The idea here is Shirk doesn't happen in the real world because in the real world
- there's only one God, that's a fact. Like people for thousands of years thought
- the earth was flat. It wasn't flat because it was a globe and that's a fact
- whether people say it, believe it or they don't, it doesn't make any difference
- My dear brothers and sisters, out there in the world there is only one God, then
- where does Shirk take place? It happens in your mind and heart and soul. So to
- establish a relationship with Allah SWT Allah has to look in
- your heart and soul and he does have that capacity and ability because He
- sees through you, He knows what you say to yourself
- (Indeed, ˹it is˺ We ˹Who˺ created humankind and ˹fully˺ know what their souls whisper to them)
- We created the human and We know what he whispers to himself. Allah can see
- through you, scan your heart. If Allah sees in your heart that there is a
- special place for Him, that no one else shares that space, then Allah will accept
- you as a devotee, One of Allah's devotees. If Allah looks in
- your heart as He said in the Hadith, the Prophet PBUH said
- in the Hadith Al-Qudsi that whosoever does an action that he puts a partner
- with me, He does it for me and for someone else, I leave my part because I'm
- the richest of the partners, I'll leave my part to the other one and I will
- leave. I will not accept that deed. I will not be in that heart. If a person commits
- Shirk, the biggest effect and impact is on him or herself first because now
- you're gonna live scattered and you know the difference between living in one as
- one entity and one peace versus living scattered is the difference between
- peace and tranquility and between war and destruction. This all happens inside
- you so you have to really spend time with yourself. Every prayer, try at least
- once a day to sit down with yourself for five minutes and say
- There is no God but one God, oh Allah help me to unite all of my fears in one
- fear just only I am only worried about my relationship with You, I only have
- fear from you and I only put my hopes in You, oh Allah purify my heart and my soul
- so that there is no God but One God inside my heart, oh Allah show me how can
- I do that? Show me how can I accomplish that? This is the best prayer that you can
- make and especially in the month of Ramadan. You know Ramadan silences all
- the noises, food, water, mating, relationship, all the things that
- creates noise Ramadan silences it and it gives you that silence so that you can
- think and talk to yourself and engrave "There is no God but One God" in your heart so that
- Allah will become your "Walei" custodian so that Allah will become Al-Wahid Al-Ahad, the
- One and the Only in your heart and that will be very essential the first major
- step on your way to Allah SWT and in your relationship with Him
- May Allah the Mighty and Majestic make us in His eyes from those who really were able to
- purify themselves from Shirk and to practice Tawheed in their lives
- May Allah help us against all enemies that stand against this goal
- Ameen Ya Rabb Alameen
- May God’s blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and all his family and companions
