- Allah
- we thank Allah subhah waala we praise
- him and we bear witness that there is no
- God but one God
- Allah and we bear witness that Muhammad
- sallallahu alaihi wasallam is his final
- prophet and messenger he conveyed the
- message he showed us the straight path
- that will lead us to success in this
- world and in the Hereafter May Allah's
- peace and blessings and salutations be
- upon him and on his
- family my dear brothers and sisters as
- we are kicking in uh another school year
- and as we are trying to take everything
- in and process what's happening to
- Muslims
- worldwide with Gazza and festine being
- the center point of the the Beating
- Heart of the Muslim ummah and how this
- tragedy is dragging and dragging and
- dragging to break records uh in
- historical context one of the things
- that I have shared with you is if you
- notice these one minute videos that come
- out of RZA the amount of love and
- attachment between fathers and their
- children and children and their parents
- you see not only the 5 years old is
- crying hard for missing his mom or dad
- because they were killed in a
- bombardment in an barbaric Savage way
- but also you will find the 15 years old
- is also crying very hard very passionate
- you find those people between 15 and 20
- which is not a common scene that there
- is this much love from Sons towards
- their fathers and daughters towards
- their fathers and towards their mothers
- with the Western Hemisphere that we live
- in there's we're barely trying to keep
- the relationship between children and
- parents it's almost uh a f uh in the
- western experience that when a child
- reaches to a teenage year that they will
- be rebellious and they will be uh um um
- you know giving their parents hard time
- and that they will be the enemies and
- that their the household has to go go
- through hell within our mindset as
- Muslims within our society as Muslims
- this cannot be farther from the truth a
- Muslim goes from a child that is not M
- to a young man or woman that is M so the
- way that Islam works with this age is
- that it tells that young man or young
- woman will come to adulthood you have
- now the angels are writing your Deeds
- you are as responsible as a full man or
- woman so there is no room for you to act
- like a fool or unintelligent or under
- any excuse this puts a pressure and when
- the society encouraged that young boy
- and young girl to act like a young man
- or young woman then the boy you will
- find they gravitate towards even acting
- older than their age it looks cute in
- the beginning when a 10 years old 11 12
- they're actually talking and acting like
- a man that's very beautiful now you've
- saved that child from so much pain and
- suffering because we don't have in Islam
- that there is child and then there is
- something called teenage that is also
- excused and then there is adulthood once
- you hit puberty you are meaning reach
- puberty means sane
- which means
- free which means responsible four words
- that do that are like in a Four Corners
- that hold you tight in the middle and
- put you on the straight path very few
- people know this where this word teenage
- came from it actually came in the second
- world war when the European countries
- run out of men because so many men died
- in the first world war the Second World
- War I so they started saying okay it was
- the draft age was 22 then it became 21
- then it became 20 then it became they
- tapped into the 19 and 18 so the the
- argument was should teenagers be drafted
- and enlisted and involved in the war or
- not that was the the only excuse should
- they be involved in the war or not
- involved should be drafted and become a
- sold and they reach to a level okay up
- to 18
- that excuse from the war became now an
- excuse from life you can do whatever you
- want but my dear brothers and sisters
- what I wanted to share with you is
- because Subhan Allah I shared with you
- before Gazza within 25 miles by five
- miles
- 1,350 Mass more it's a record breaker of
- anywhere else on planet Earth that there
- is that many mass within that small area
- so so these children grew up with the
- Quran the parents grew up with the Quran
- specifically a whole generation the last
- 20 years they've been isolated from the
- world so they be they grew up with
- alquran Kim and you will find the way
- alquran Kim deals with this issue the
- relationship between parents and their
- children it's a very different very
- unique even from what we think as
- Muslims what we think the Quran says
- about the relationship ship between
- parents and children is actually not
- true the Quran is way much more
- sophisticated than we think it is way
- much more sophisticated than our
- statements what is the most common
- statement that a
- father uses to assert his authority in
- the house or the mother what do we tell
- our children Allah says in the Quran you
- should listen to your parents Allah says
- in the Quran you should obey
- parents so here I am a sheh in front of
- you I ask you can you please show me
- where it says that in the
- Quran because it
- doesn't because it's more
- sophisticated it says it in a
- sophisticated way it says it in an in
- inclusive way it says it in a way that
- will not ruin the relationship it says
- it as it's implicit but it's not
- emphasized because Allah wants us to
- have the best relationship with our
- children so he guides us through a set
- of words of what to do with our parents
- and what not to do and exactly the the
- beautiful thing that exactly what Allah
- is asking you you the parents you have
- little children you also have a parent
- exactly the same set of commands of dos
- and don'ts that you should apply with
- your parents who are the grandparents of
- your children your children should apply
- with you so you are in training
- how do you become the best father is by
- you applying becoming the best son and
- the best daughter even though now you're
- old and married that's how you apply it
- you you experiment on yourself first
- then you say Ah that's how it's done by
- applying this aat in
- alquran just so that I close this
- chapter very quickly what Allah said in
- the Quran that if your
- parents fight you to commit your and
- leave Islam that was something very
- common with the first generation of
- sahaba when they became Muslims their
- parents told them you either revert from
- Islam go back to kuur or I will kill
- myself
- like he was known for how beautiful he
- was with his mother in the city of Mecca
- and she stopped eating and drinking so
- he came to his mother and said mother
- you know that in the entire city of
- Mecca no one is better to his mother
- than me to you and people say that you
- know that but my mother I'm going to say
- something to you if you have 100s and
- you died one naps by one naps I will not
- leave
- Islam but I will be I will stay to be
- the best son to his mother like I am but
- give up on this demand so she ate and
- drank because she stopped eating
- drinking and taking a shower he said if
- you have 100 NS I will not if you die
- 100 times but side by side what was
- referring he was referring to an Ayah in
- the Quran in this Ayah where Allah
- say if your parents fight you to
- commit then do not obey
- them in the same breath the very next
- word and befriend them with befriend
- them with kindness in this world in one
- statement do not obey them but befriend
- them imagine how sophisticated is the
- Quran do not obey them in the matter of
- sh but be a good friend to
- them very high
- standard now this word do not obey them
- implicitly what is it saying saying if
- your parents are asking you for anything
- else that is not shik and that is not
- kufur and that is
- not in disobeying Allah then it's
- implicit that you will obey them the
- fact that Allah said do not obey them
- when it comes to sh it means obey them
- in anything else but Allah didn't say in
- the Quran obey your parents and
- everything else because if Allah said
- that it would have ruined the
- relationship between us and our parents
- and us and our children so what did
- Allah say very interesting Allah uses
- words and is a summary each one of these
- words if we Trace its meaning in the
- Quran and in the Sunnah it's a lecture
- by itself so please excuse me for not
- expanding I will just share the words
- with you
- one Allah says we have recommended the
- child the son or the daughter to be good
- to
- them this
- word has so many meanings in it they're
- all beautiful you only
- make to someone that you love so the the
- the will that the father leaves for his
- children and the
- Last Wish of the father or the mother
- when they are on their death bed to
- their children is called was you only do
- was to someone that you love and you
- take care of Wha in Arabic means
- guardianship who's the was of this child
- oh that's his was maybe his father died
- his uncle is the was which means you're
- taking care of someone and you love that
- person that you are taking care of so
- look at the Dynamics when Allah in the
- Quran approach the relationship between
- parents and children look at how Allah
- flipped the model our model the way we
- talk you should listen to your
- parents the model of the Quran it
- flipped it upside down you should take
- care of your parents now I'm going to
- tell you to your NPS to your human NS
- which one is more beloved to you you
- should do this or please take care of
- this completely flip the Dynamics
- we recommended the human to be good and
- take care of his par of his parents a so
- now the dynamic is just flipped instead
- of you telling your child you should
- listen to me now you're saying what
- please Baba take care of me I'm your
- father man y spoil me time look the the
- conversation completely flips when you
- follow the Quran Dynamic
- changes what
- in one a and use open your imagination
- the wordan is a word in the Quran that
- refers to three meanings they're all
- true number one when you do something
- good it's called when you do something
- good if you do something beautiful
- something you beautify something it's
- called isan and when you perfect
- something you do it with perfection to
- the best of your it's called three
- meanings for the wordan in the Quran so
- look what Allah is asking for the
- Dynamics what Allah is asking of us
- towards our parents and what's asking of
- our children towards us usean do
- something good do it beautiful and do it
- with perfection three meanings for the
- wordan third word in the Quran how does
- Allah set the Dynamics say thank you
- Allah says in the Quran this is
- in be thankful to me to Allah and to
- your
- parents the of they said this is one of
- the greatest statements in the Quran why
- because nowhere else in the Quran Allah
- said for the human do something do this
- for me and there's no end in the Quran
- after Allah except
- here be thankful to me and your parents
- this and your parents in the language of
- the Quran it gives you the Goosebumps
- the MU like oh what's going on
- here look what what Allah is setting the
- Dynamics be thankful yeah say thank
- youa for the way you raised me for the
- way you taught me for the way you dealt
- with me you know this does so much to
- the heart of the father and the mother
- more than you will ever think what does
- Allah use another word in the Quran look
- this is as if we always like to refer to
- Stanford and you see s and God knows the
- UC system but go back to ALR what does
- Allah demand from that child towards the
- parents instead of listen to your
- parents as if a slave master
- relationship what does Allah
- say befriend your parents listen listen
- this was revealed, 1400 years ago in the
- desert of Arabia where they didn't know
- this stuff even here in America they're
- just reason oh become the there should
- be friendship but this friendship be
- careful it's not friendship of equals
- it's a friendship of a son towards his
- father a daughter towards her yeah
- children with parents because there is
- something that I keep on having to
- walking many parents it's a bit funny I
- have to walk many parents to cross this
- bridge they cry and then I have to hold
- their hands and help them what the
- father and the mother oh I wanted to be
- the best friend of my child
- no please don't do that that's the worst
- idea you cannot be the best you cannot
- and and this is where it becomes
- confusing and you're thinking you are
- mashallah smart you want to become the
- best friend but you want to tell your
- child what to do and what not to do the
- best friend your best friend doesn't
- tell you what to do and what not to do
- if they do that they will not be your
- best friend so what you need to
- understand this friendship is that Allah
- is referring to is a friendship with
- respect not friendship of equal for
- example Allah
- says Allah is the of and Allah
- says so the m is the of the and Allah is
- the of the woman is this here the same
- no the this friendship between a slave
- and a master between us and
- Allah and between equals between the
- Believers so it's the same word but it's
- not implemented the same way so please
- take out of your dictionary that you
- want to be the best friend of your child
- that will ruin the relationship and that
- will load the relationship more than it
- is but the child what does Allah command
- not the father to tell his oh I am your
- best friend no the Son and the daughter
- to befriend the parents talk to them
- have a conversation how are you my dear
- brothers and sisters I really need you
- to examine your home you come home do
- you have a conversation with your
- children how are you what's going on
- what happened today in school what's
- going up and they ask you and you answer
- them if you don't have this conversation
- then you have defined your job as a
- parent I'm going to feed you I'm going
- to clothe you I'm going to give you
- shelter please shut up and get good
- grades what kind of relationship is that
- but the yet that's what's predominant in
- most of the homes because the parents
- don't know how to talk to their children
- and as a result the children don't know
- how to talk to the parents what did
- Allah
- say in this and the other word
- is what is the other word that Allah Us
- in the
- Quran speak to your parents in an
- honorable way it's okay the father can
- be upset the mother can be upset that's
- okay but you cannot be upset when your
- father is
- upset because you're not equal let him
- have his moment let your mom have her
- moment after that you can come back and
- explain there is no place for argument
- and it never works if the father States
- their the parents State their opinion
- and you try to convince them at the same
- moment I'm telling you right now you
- failed on start you failed on
- departure let the parents have their
- moment of upsetting being upset or angry
- let them say with this call them
- down I listen to you then come back when
- they are calm down and say but you know
- I want to talk to you about this they
- will have the longest conversation with
- you be smart about it there's no you're
- saying this and I'm saying that and it's
- either my opinion or your opinion you
- need to teach your child teach your
- child hey when you see me upset don't
- talk to me right now don't try to
- convince me let me come down then come
- back and talk to me nicely and by the
- way when you come to bring with you a
- cup of
- tea so that we can have a nice
- conversation my dear brothers and
- sisters these commands of the the Quran
- if you trace them what Allah
- says lower the wing of Mercy to your
- parents as if you are an angel and you
- have a wing lower the wing of mercy be
- humble and merciful to your parents tell
- your child share with your child do you
- know that I barely sleep and I work do
- you know you're upset with me to tell
- you pick up the garbage do you know what
- my boss tells me at work do you know how
- long I work share with you you but don't
- share while you're upset tell them this
- is my work day this so that your child
- when they're sitting down said oh my god
- I didn't even know do you know more of
- most of your children don't know what
- you're sacrificing for them the problem
- is your problem you never share with
- them again a cup of tea mashallah we
- have the best tea in the world you go to
- Iraq the best tea festine the best tea
- Egypt the best tea Pakistan India
- Bangladesh Afghanistan the best let the
- tea do its
- work well you can raise your child over
- a cup of
- tea have a conversation let's learn I'm
- telling you you think it's a joke look
- at the conversation between Yousef and
- his father yob oh my father I saw
- yesterday a dream when was the last time
- your child came to you and said my
- father I saw a dream do you know what's
- the interpretation look at the closeness
- look at the conversation they're having
- a conversation they're talking about
- dreams Beyond reality so that's why my
- dear brother brothers and sisters you
- know the time of theba is a short time
- but we try to remind ourselves with
- these quranic words
- humbleness
- and can you believe
- two youth
- one and one
- is ISA the one who resurrects the Dead
- the one who heals the leopard instantly
- the one who heals the one who's born
- blind
- how does Allah
- praise how does speak about
- himself one of the highlights OFA that
- he's good to his
- mother that goes with large Miracles one
- of what
- is the word that needs a whole lecture
- to trace the word b in Quran and Sunnah
- and apply it so these are just headlines
- and the last
- one make Dua for your parents my dear
- brothers and sisters I just shared with
- you a list of the Dos I didn't share
- with you the list of the Dons because
- there is no time next or next event may
- Allah put that beautiful relationship
- between us and our sons and daughters
- and between us and our mothers and
- fathers may Allah make us from
- my dear brothers sisters I do believe
- with all of my heart and this is
- something I tried to apply my whole life
- the part of my job as a father for my
- children not only to provide them with
- food shelter home
- but to provide them with a Masid with an
- Islamic Center I can't raise my children
- all of you who know me slightly and know
- my children all of you have done me a
- favor with the way with being role
- models for my children my sons and
- daughters I'm talking to the brothers
- and my sisters we have we are
- all I have done you a favor you have
- done me a favor every man and woman just
- by showing up to the Masjid imagine if I
- bring my son or daughter and they find
- in Salat Only One
- S how depressing is that by you becoming
- the Masjid you don't know how much favor
- you're doing to the Believers and how
- much favor the Believers are doing for
- you and that's what Allah expects from
- us but in order to have that we have to
- have a center like MCA one of the
- largest in my judgment it is the largest
- uh actually from square footage point of
- view the largest Islamic Center in the
- United States is sincerely yours where
- you're sitting down and therefore
- alhamdulillah we're moving on to a new
- building where it will be a place for
- Granada school to accept more children
- so that we don't have somewhere between
- 200 and 400 on the waiting list so that
- we can have a youth center for our sons
- and daughters who don't go to Granada to
- Islamic school maybe they go to public
- school but we need to have them after
- school program and on the weekend so
- that we don't lose them it's just like
- you provide a Shel for your children you
- should provide a Masid it's the shelter
- for
- their in one of the suras of the Quran
- Allah defined himself as the Lord of
- this Masjid the Lord of this house
- imagine
- Allah Allah is the of this bait and the
- r of the mca2 and mca3 and that's why
- inshallah by coming Saturday a week from
- tomorrow there's the fundraising I
- invite you to buy the tickets to come
- and to donate again it's one or two or
- three million to finish which means if
- every income earner pays
- $1,000 we have two 3,000 income earners
- that's it we're going to close no need
- even for a fundraising so we can do it
- and we owe this to ourselves we owe this
- to our children and Grand children
