3 moments mention “Mercy”:

  1. Assalaamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
  2. and welcome back to Ramadan's "As-Sirat al-Mustaqim"
  3. Today, we're going to talk about a new station.
  4. This station has four stops.
  5. This station is on The Straight Path
  6. its job is to define for us the curriculum and the method.
  7. Allah SWT in The Noble Quran,
  8. and in Surah Al-Jumu'ah, He said Subhanahu wa Ta'ala:
  9. (He is the One Who raised for the illiterate ˹people˺ a messenger
  10. from among themselves, reciting to them His revelations
  11. purifying them
  12. and teaching them the Book and wisdom
  13. for indeed they had previously been clearly astray)
  14. It is He, Allah
  15. Who sent among the illiterate a Messenger from among them
  16. What does this Messenger do?
  17. He recites the word of Allah unto them.
  18. Then he purifies them with that word of Allah
  19. Then he teaches them the Book.
  20. Then he teaches them the wisdom.
  21. Each one of these is a beautiful exploration on this Straight Path
  22. that every Muslim has to be well-versed in these stops.
  23. Not only this defines the curriculum, but it defines the sequence
  24. of the curriculum.
  25. And we will explain, Insha'Allah, why that is very important.
  26. But let's start with the first one:
  27. (Reciting to them His revelations)
  28. This Messenger recites the word of Allah unto them.
  29. Notice Subhanallah, I wondered
  30. when I was young, and every Muslim wonders,
  31. if I was living at the time of the Prophet PBUH,
  32. what type of Daawah would I hear from him?
  33. What type of speeches would I hear from him?
  34. What kind of like wisdom? What I hear from him?
  35. And you will be surprised in the Quran and in the records of Sunnah and Sirah
  36. Most of the speeches, the Daawah,
  37. the advice, the effective change that the Prophet PBUH did
  38. was through reciting the word of Allah to people.
  39. If you read the story in Honored Mecca,
  40. he used to walk in Mecca, and the Companions will do that.
  41. They will walk while reciting the Quran, and they will get beaten very badly for it.
  42. Prophet PBUH would sit in front of the Kaaba and recite, to a point where Quraysh said
  43. to the people: "When you come and make Tawaf around the Kaaba,
  44. put cotton" and they start giving them cotton in their ears
  45. "Because he's going to throw a spell on you and he's going to put some magic,
  46. and he's going to draw you and suck you into his religion"
  47. Subhanallah, one of these leaders, Tufayl ibn Amr al-Dawsī, put the cotton
  48. and then he took it out and he said: "I am the leader of my people.
  49. I am a poet.
  50. I am an Arab man who understands the difference between
  51. magic spells and divine revelation"
  52. He sat down with the Prophet PBUH
  53. and after listening to the Prophet
  54. reciting the Quran, he converted to Islam immediately.
  55. And Quraysh, the tribe that was ruling Mecca, they were so upset
  56. because Al-Ṭufayl ibn ʿAmr al-Dawsī
  57. has a huge tribe and the Prophet PBUH
  58. instructed him to go back to his tribe and invite them to Islam.
  59. My dear brothers and sisters, reciting the Quran is something that is healing.
  60. Prophet PBUH used to recite the Quran
  61. as healing. In the Quran, it says:
  62. (We send down the Quran as a healing and mercy for the believers)
  63. We reveal of this Quran of what is healing and mercy to the believers.
  64. What kind of healing? Physical healing. One companion recited,
  65. Surah Al-Fatiha on someone and he healed them immediately.
  66. He was literally boiling from a scorpion that stung him.
  67. And once he recited Surah Al-Fatiha, he got up and started running.
  68. Healing mentally, it removes your stress. Healing emotionally,
  69. it connects you with Allah and enables you to overcome
  70. your emotional depression or deep sadness.
  71. It's on every level healing. And "Rahma" Mercy, through its teachings
  72. that Allah SWT
  73. put in it. Now for a moment,
  74. if you can stop what you are doing and listen to this.
  75. Do you know what it means that you are reciting the Quran?
  76. It is actually the word of Allah
  77. that came in a form of revelation through the greatest angel.
  78. Angel Jibril PBUH
  79. To the heart of the Prophet PBUH
  80. And this word was put in a human language.
  81. And now, when you recite this
  82. with your own human voice, when you recite the Quran,
  83. you're actually reciting the word of Allah.
  84. Every time I think about that, I feel like Mount Everest is on my shoulders.
  85. I read that Uthman ibn Affan May Allah be pleased with him,
  86. when he used to sit down and put the Quran, start
  87. reading, and he's the one who made seven copies.
  88. He would go back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and sweat
  89. before starting his recitation.
  90. And his wife would say: "What's wrong, what's going on?
  91. What's worrying you?"
  92. And he used to look at her and say: "Don't you know which word I'm about to recite?
  93. I am so stressed.
  94. I'm about to recite the word of Allah in my own voice"
  95. Subhanallah
  96. So this should give us some motivation, if you're amazing and professional
  97. in reading the Quran, the Prophet PBUH
  98. said that you're with the highest angels.
  99. If you are, you know, new to Islam, new to Arabic language or
  100. Arabic is not your mother tongue, or you don't recite the Quran fluently,
  101. the Prophet gave you a glad tidings, two rewards,
  102. the reward of reading and the reward of hardship.
  103. Reciting the Quran has amazing effect and reciting it aloud.
  104. When you say "Tilawa, Tarteel, Qira'a"
  105. this all means "Reciting aloud" this will affect the environment around you.
  106. It pushes the devils and Satan away.
  107. It brings the angels.
  108. It brings the presence of Allah SWT in your life.
  109. And you should not only read the Quran in Ramadan,
  110. but you should figure out an amount that you can read from the Quran every day.
  111. For the believer who reads the Quran is like an orange.
  112. It smells amazing and it tastes very sweet.
  113. That's the example Prophet PBUH gave us.
  114. May Allah make us from those who recite the Quran.
  115. And even in Jannah "heaven" the only action that you can do in Jannah
  116. that will get you upper and higher and higher and higher in heaven is
  117. when you recite the Quran.
  118. That's the only action that a believer can do to Jannat Al Naeem
  119. May Allah the Mighty and the Majestic gather us all in Jannat Al Naeem,
  120. and may Allah enable us to read Quran and rise in the ranks
  121. in Jannat Al Naeem,
  122. In the Gardens of Heaven
  123. Ameen, Wa Assalaamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
