- Assalaamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh "Peace be upon you"
- And welcome back to this Ramadan series
- As-Sirat al-Mustaqim "The Straight Path"
- When you are on a constant
- journey to know Allah SWT
- And then that leads you to fall in love with Allah SWT
- And by the way, just the small reference to knowing Allah, our scholars said
- in the past, we spent our entire lifetime trying to know Allah,
- and the only thing that we are certain of is that we don't know Allah.
- And what they are referring to is that no one can comprehend
- and encompass Allah SWT except Himself.
- We know Allah what Allah wants us to know about Him.
- But there is so much about Allah that we don't know.
- And once you see the blessings of Allah upon you and around you
- in every direction, then now it's natural
- that you would want to have a relationship with Allah.
- The third station is the station of worshiping Allah.
- What is worshiping Allah?
- It is having a relationship with Allah
- based on His terms, not your terms.
- The word in Arabic that is assigned for worship is
- "Ebada"
- It comes from "Abd" who is "Abd" in Arabic?
- is one of two things either a servant or a slave.
- And that's meaning shed on the acts of worship in Islam
- that your acts of worship.
- It's in service of Allah SWT
- and in obedience and submission to Him.
- Subhanahu wa Ta'ala "Glory be to Him, the Exalted"
- And that takes worship to a whole other level.
- Worship in Islam is two types:
- One is the type of worship that Allah explained in details
- inspired to his prophet to explain it to people, mentioned it
- in details in the Quran, and that includes the five pillars
- of Islam established on, you bearing witness that there is no God
- but one God and Muhammad is this prophet and messenger first.
- And that's knowing Allah and loving Allah
- Then comes the four rituals, prayers,
- fasting, charity and pilgrimage.
- Prayers "Al Salah" is the connection.
- It's literally relationship
- between you and a Allah SWT, five times a day.
- Because that's how much you need to talk to Allah
- to keep your sanity, your peace, and feeling secure every day.
- Charity is to save you from yourself
- and from becoming the slave of your own wealth and money.
- Fasting is to free you from your own whims and lust and desires
- and to make you in charge of you instead of yourself.
- And your desires become in charge of you.
- Pilgrimage is for you to connect with Allah
- through a journey away from home and to connect with the believers
- worldwide so that you become part
- of humanity and worship Allah together.
- The second type of worship is open-ended.
- It is any good act that you do
- in the service of Allah, in the service of the creation of Allah,
- in doing something good, with a good intention that counts
- for you as a worship to Allah SWT
- Now people think that the only type of worship
- are these for rituals, but worship in its core
- is that you have
- the most love for Allah SWT
- as we mentioned in the last episode. If you start loving someone
- more than you love Allah or equal to loving Allah,
- Now your worship needs some clarification, needs some recommendations
- to remove that we call that "Shirk" (Associating partners with Allah)
- When you fear something so much,
- that you change your entire life based on that fear.
- That's an act of worship.
- We believers are free from
- fearing anyone other than Allah SWT
- When you put all of your hopes in one person,
- you are committing an act of worship (correction: Shirk)
- because you should put all of your hopes
- and trust in Allah.
- We can trust people.
- We can ask people for help.
- But that's not called total trust and total fear and total hope.
- These things, these stations of Iman "faith", should be reserved between the believer
- and his God and shall not be directed
- towards any of Allah's creation.
- It should only be reserved for Him.
- Subhanahu wa Ta'ala "Glory be to Him, the Exalted"
- Oh Allah
- It's an honor to know You.
- It's an honor to love You.
- And it's such a distinguished honor to worship You
- and to have a relationship based on Your terms.
- We are Your servants.
- We are Your slaves.
- And we realize Allah that in this relationship
- the benefit of the master goes to a slave, not the benefit of the slave
- goes to the master because You don't need us Allah!
- We thank You for being there for us every step of the way,
- even with our weaknesses, shortcomings and sins.
- You still accept us, for You
- are "Al Rahman, Al Raheem", the most Forgiving,
- the most Merciful.
- Alhamdulillah Rabba Alameen “Praise be to God”
