2 moments mention “Relationship with Allah”:

  1. Assalaamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh "Peace be upon you"
  2. And welcome back to this Ramadan series
  3. As-Sirat al-Mustaqim "The Straight Path"
  4. When you are on a constant
  5. journey to know Allah SWT
  6. And then that leads you to fall in love with Allah SWT
  7. And by the way, just the small reference to knowing Allah, our scholars said
  8. in the past, we spent our entire lifetime trying to know Allah,
  9. and the only thing that we are certain of is that we don't know Allah.
  10. And what they are referring to is that no one can comprehend
  11. and encompass Allah SWT except Himself.
  12. We know Allah what Allah wants us to know about Him.
  13. But there is so much about Allah that we don't know.
  14. And once you see the blessings of Allah upon you and around you
  15. in every direction, then now it's natural
  16. that you would want to have a relationship with Allah.
  17. The third station is the station of worshiping Allah.
  18. What is worshiping Allah?
  19. It is having a relationship with Allah
  20. based on His terms, not your terms.
  21. The word in Arabic that is assigned for worship is
  22. "Ebada"
  23. It comes from "Abd" who is "Abd" in Arabic?
  24. is one of two things either a servant or a slave.
  25. And that's meaning shed on the acts of worship in Islam
  26. that your acts of worship.
  27. It's in service of Allah SWT
  28. and in obedience and submission to Him.
  29. Subhanahu wa Ta'ala "Glory be to Him, the Exalted"
  30. And that takes worship to a whole other level.
  31. Worship in Islam is two types:
  32. One is the type of worship that Allah explained in details
  33. inspired to his prophet to explain it to people, mentioned it
  34. in details in the Quran, and that includes the five pillars
  35. of Islam established on, you bearing witness that there is no God
  36. but one God and Muhammad is this prophet and messenger first.
  37. And that's knowing Allah and loving Allah
  38. Then comes the four rituals, prayers,
  39. fasting, charity and pilgrimage.
  40. Prayers "Al Salah" is the connection.
  41. It's literally relationship
  42. between you and a Allah SWT, five times a day.
  43. Because that's how much you need to talk to Allah
  44. to keep your sanity, your peace, and feeling secure every day.
  45. Charity is to save you from yourself
  46. and from becoming the slave of your own wealth and money.
  47. Fasting is to free you from your own whims and lust and desires
  48. and to make you in charge of you instead of yourself.
  49. And your desires become in charge of you.
  50. Pilgrimage is for you to connect with Allah
  51. through a journey away from home and to connect with the believers
  52. worldwide so that you become part
  53. of humanity and worship Allah together.
  54. The second type of worship is open-ended.
  55. It is any good act that you do
  56. in the service of Allah, in the service of the creation of Allah,
  57. in doing something good, with a good intention that counts
  58. for you as a worship to Allah SWT
  59. Now people think that the only type of worship
  60. are these for rituals, but worship in its core
  61. is that you have
  62. the most love for Allah SWT
  63. as we mentioned in the last episode. If you start loving someone
  64. more than you love Allah or equal to loving Allah,
  65. Now your worship needs some clarification, needs some recommendations
  66. to remove that we call that "Shirk" (Associating partners with Allah)
  67. When you fear something so much,
  68. that you change your entire life based on that fear.
  69. That's an act of worship.
  70. We believers are free from
  71. fearing anyone other than Allah SWT
  72. When you put all of your hopes in one person,
  73. you are committing an act of worship (correction: Shirk)
  74. because you should put all of your hopes
  75. and trust in Allah.
  76. We can trust people.
  77. We can ask people for help.
  78. But that's not called total trust and total fear and total hope.
  79. These things, these stations of Iman "faith", should be reserved between the believer
  80. and his God and shall not be directed
  81. towards any of Allah's creation.
  82. It should only be reserved for Him.
  83. Subhanahu wa Ta'ala "Glory be to Him, the Exalted"
  84. Oh Allah
  85. It's an honor to know You.
  86. It's an honor to love You.
  87. And it's such a distinguished honor to worship You
  88. and to have a relationship based on Your terms.
  89. We are Your servants.
  90. We are Your slaves.
  91. And we realize Allah that in this relationship
  92. the benefit of the master goes to a slave, not the benefit of the slave
  93. goes to the master because You don't need us Allah!
  94. We thank You for being there for us every step of the way,
  95. even with our weaknesses, shortcomings and sins.
  96. You still accept us, for You
  97. are "Al Rahman, Al Raheem", the most Forgiving,
  98. the most Merciful.
  99. Alhamdulillah Rabba Alameen “Praise be to God”
