Legacy Mentor

A Legacy Mentor takes on a leadership role in shaping and guiding programs and initiatives. Building on years of growth within the Tawasaw pathway, they not only mentor individuals but also lead efforts that strengthen the community as a whole.

Legacy Mentors design and lead initiatives, support the development of younger mentors, and ensure that the values of Tawasaw are carried forward with excellence.

  • "We activate mentors who are passionate about serving their Deen and community."

What does it mean to be a Legacy Mentor?

Bi-Weekly Halaqas with Shaykh Alauddin ElBakri

Legacy Mentors are committed to their own continuous growth by attending biweekly halaqas with Shaykh Alauddin Elbakri, ensuring that their leadership remains grounded in knowledge, sincerity, and guidance. These sessions provide a dedicated space for deeper learning, reflection, and mentorship, allowing Legacy Mentors to seek clarity, ask questions, and strengthen their connection with Allah. Through this ongoing relationship with the Shaykh, they are better equipped to guide others with wisdom, consistency, and a strong foundation in the deen.

Bi-Weekly Leadership Training

Legacy Mentors are required to attend bi-weekly leadership training sessions designed to strengthen their skills in mentorship, communication, and community building. These sessions provide a space for ongoing development, reflection, and accountability, helping mentors grow in their ability to lead with clarity, humility, and purpose. Through consistent training, Legacy Mentors are equipped to support others effectively while continuing to refine their own character and leadership in alignment with the Tawasaw vision.

1:1 Sessions with Shaykh Alauddin ElBakri

Legacy Mentors are required to participate in 1:1 sessions with Shaykh Alauddin Elbakri, providing a dedicated space for personalized guidance, reflection, and growth. These sessions allow mentors to seek advice on their spiritual and leadership journey, address challenges, and deepen their understanding of the deen. Through this direct connection, Legacy Mentors are nurtured with care and intentionality, ensuring they are equipped to lead others with sincerity, wisdom, and strong grounding in Islamic knowledge.

Host a Program with Tawasaw’s Support

Legacy Mentors are encouraged to host programs within their communities with the support and guidance of Tawasaw, creating meaningful spaces for learning, connection, and growth. Each program is required to include a halaqa component, ensuring that gatherings remain rooted in reflection, remembrance, and Islamic learning. Through this structure, mentors are able to design impactful experiences while staying aligned with the Tawasaw model—where knowledge is shared, faith is nurtured, and community is strengthened.

Yearly Retreat with Legacy Council

Legacy Mentors, Legacy Shepherds, and Legacy Stewards are required to attend an annual Legacy Retreat with the Legacy Council, creating a dedicated space for reflection, guidance, and renewal. During this retreat, participants spend meaningful time with respected scholars—sharing challenges, seeking advice, and gaining insight to strengthen their leadership and service. This experience ensures that their work remains grounded in knowledge, sincerity, and barakah, while reinforcing their role within the ongoing chain of mentorship and growth in the Tawasaw community.
